New OCLP target new macOS versions. The latest releases from 0.6.2 onwards in particular made some severe changes for some Macs (disabled AMFI, again) which will disable functionality on Big Sur and Monterey just to allow the use of the latest Ventura releases. Especially Kepler and IvyBridge 2012 Macs are hit by this.
Does it really disable AMFI on Big Sur and Monterey? I thought the settings are automatically applied based on the chosen OS and the hardware you're installing to? OCLP has come a long way. Installation is really easy and I like how it automatically checks for updates. It seems like it makes more sense to continue to keep it updated since Apple is still updating Big Sur and Monterey.

Grrr.... everyone is talking about it and complaining about it, but no one is saying WHAT specifically happens..... WHAT happens to an Ivy bridge Mac using OCLP on Monterey or Big Sur if AMFI is disabled? Which apps are affected, what specifically goes wrong? WHAT are the specific losses in functionality? People need to illustrate their assertions.... 😑

Well, quite a few of the apps were mentioned here. VMWare and other virtualizers. Seafile Client wouldn't start for me. And then there is the security aspect. I would like to disable as little as possible. Not to use Catalina anymore is a security aspect. So if I can avoid disabling AMFI, I will do so...

Great. Thank you for that info.... How about apps that come with macOS like pages, numbers, FaceTime, calendar, mail, etc? or apps for telework like zoom or teams? Do you know if there are any issues here?

Actually, I don't know. Maybe others can contribute...
EDIT: It wouldn't be to difficult to test, would it? You could install your OC EFI to a removable drive with AMFI disabled and see what happens. Own risk, of course. Haven't tried that...😇

I actually have Monterey OCLP 0.6.4 installed on one of my HD4000 devices, and I haven't noticed anything strange myself using apps on this device, but there has been such a ruckus about AMFI getting disabled on Monterey here, I thought that maybe there is an issue with common apps that I was missing.... perhaps not?

Different topic-- I like the idea of an OCLP menu feature, where we specify which OS (Big Sur, Monterey, Ventura, whatever comes next) that we intend to install, and we specify our target machine, and then OCLP spits out a customized EFI that is different for Big Sur, Monterey, Ventura, and perhaps whatever OS is next. I am not a developer, but I wonder if it would be so difficult to automate that process, as they have already automated so many things brilliantly...

Hello! I installed big sur with 0.6.4 opencore in my MacBook Pro 5,2. The spinning wait wheel has no animation. Exist any way to fix it? Also the app verification install process is a bit slow, it’s normal? Thank you

as was told to me, for big sur and monterey, you dont need any version after oclp 0.4.11 . almost every version after this is for ventura and will limit some functions that wasnt need on this Os's.

Huh,
Hmmm, can we downgrade our oclp from 0.6.4 to 0.4.11 easily?
Regards Wayne

Yes, just install OC and the Root Patches. It'll just overwrite the files.

EDIT: Sorry, have to correct myself (because somebody who knows told me so... :) 🙌). That would work with Monterey, but not with Big Sur. You have to do the OCLP downgrade (more precisely: reverting the root patches) directly after a system install (update or just reinstall the current version).

I just downgraded to 0.4.11 since I am using Big Sur and I keep seeing this being advised. Everything was working fine for me on 0.6.4, but I want to make sure I'm using the most stable and compatible settings as I plan on sticking with Big Sur for a few more months and then I will move to Monterey until it is retired. So I shouldn't need to bother with OCLP updates until I move to Ventura.

Really no need to downgrade OCLP if you weren't having any issues. There are other benefits to getting the latest OCLP (newer OpenCore binaries, etc). I'm running 0.6.4 with Monterey without any issues, but that can depend on what machine you have and which OCLP patches are installed.

Strange but my observation for OCLP 0.4.11 on a Big Sur 11.7.6 VS OCLP on a Big Sur 11.7.6, the former seems snappier!

I have a mid 2010 iMac 21.5 base model (iMac 11,2) 500HDD 7200 RPM & 16GB RAM. My goal is to install 11.2.3 on it. (TeraScale 1 GPU distortion issues).

I have cleared the iMac and used the internet recovery to reinstall High Sierra. I had created a OC (using the latest patcher) external SSD boot drive and tried to install 11.2.3 BC but get "the update cannot be installed on this computer"

I have been able to install the latest BS that the patcher had on its download list as well as the latest Monterey.

Is it still possible to install Big Sur 11.2.3 (The last version that worked with TeraScale 1) I downloaded the installer from the archive.org site (wow was it slow!)

I need all of your help!!!

Ps. I have installed a clean copy of 10.13.6 (17G14042) on the iMac...

Ensure to boot your iMac with OCLP (assuming it's already installed on your external SSD boot drive) by holding the Opt/Alt key when boot up and select the OCLP EFI first.

TigerA,

Yes I did do that.

I am able to install the last BS downloaded version on the iMac. I am starting to wonder if this version in that it has been removed from apple download directory is being blocked from being installed by apple?

I have been able to install Monterey as well.

The reason that I am trying to install Big Sur 11.2.3 is this version is the last version that does not have the TaraScale 1 graphics issue.

I would like to hear if anyone has been successful installing the above listed version onto their 11,2 iMac???

Dave

It appears your OCLP installation is not working (unsupported device):

Are you certain you booted the OCLP EFI? What version of OCLP is installed?
