My safari totally freezes my macbook 2017 when it plays video content on any webpage, my iphone 11 pro plus with ios 14 turns itself off when taking a photo for facebook too !

I don't think it's stable enough to actually use , it's a nightmare at moment trying to so by ebay sales with anything picture related killing all my apple devices.

It keeps telling me it can't find the volume.
Code:
/Users/joey/Downloads/big-sur-micropatcher-main/micropatcher.sh
BarryKN Big Sur Micropatcher v0.0.10
Thanks to jackluke and ASentientBot for their hard work to get Big Sur
running on unsupported Macs!

Failed to locate Big Sur recovery USB stick.
Remember to create it using createinstallmedia, and do not rename it.

Patcher cannot continue and will now exit.
I did not rename it. It is still called Install macOS Beta.
Code:
/dev/disk9 (external, physical):
   #: TYPE NAME SIZE IDENTIFIER
   0: GUID_partition_scheme *62.5 GB disk9
   1: EFI EFI 209.7 MB disk9s1
   2: Apple_HFS Install macOS Beta 62.2 GB disk9s2
I'll have to look at it this weekend. Some possible workarounds:
1. Try downloading v0.0.9 (the changes in 0.0.10 aren't very important, and I tested 0.0.9 with beta 1 so I know it works with the old name).
2. Try using Big Sur beta 2 instead of beta 1 (beta 2's installer USB is called "Install macOS Big Sur Beta" not "Install macOS Beta").

Now it would be nice to enable LAN for order, but nvenet.kext is the IONetworkingFamily.kext plugin. Do you happen to know how to do it by the same way as in your script? :)
And what about Tesla now? What happens if I add Tesla kexts, how it is done for Catalina? Have you tried this already?
I can definitely add nvenet.kext to my script. I may or may not be able to get to it next week -- I have a list of things to fix in my patcher piling up...

Regarding Tesla, my initial attempts failed but there's other stuff I need to try before I actually give up.

Hi, found this and tested with my MacBook Pro mid 2012 non retina and it WORKS!
Follow the instructions very carefully. WIFI working with handoff, etc.
I haven't tested handoff or AirDrop. Basically, if it works after applying the WiFi patch, great, if not, I'll have to get to it later because there are some higher priorities.
Got my Mac Pro 5,1 updated from Big Sur DP1 to DP2, this time using successfully @Barry K. Nathan's micropatcher v0.0.10 too. Update went smooth, no issues. Thanks a lot, great work so far. 👍
First off, can't help much with fixes but I have two unsupported Macs to test stuff. The MBP 9,1 is already running DP2, using the @parrotgeek1 guide as described in #1731. (Note that ParrotGeek has released a 0.1.5 version in the meantime, maybe it's adding kexts for legacy WiFi cards now too, not tested.)

However, the Mac Pro 5,1 isn't an IvyBridge- but an even older Westmere machine so I was in doubt if @jackluke's fix for WiFi/AirDrop/Handoff used on the MBP would work.

The 'micropatcher_sh' variant looked promising with its very detailed description (loved the part about 'tab completing') so I tried this instead. As expected, the already existing WiFi kexts (added with the @libneko method) were overwritten, a new snapshot was created. Fortunately WiFi is working nonetheless, it's included thanks to the '"post install"/adding IO20811Family.kext' process instead.

Assume it's using the AirPortBRCM4331 plugin for the original WiFi card (supports just 802.11 a/b/g/n not ac) so no Handoff or AirDrop yet. I don't think this card can do Handoff at all but maybe AirDrop sometime later (doesn't show up in Finder sidebar). Added the terminal output for you to check, hope that helps Barry. Many thanks again.
Edit, typos.

Also @hvds noticed that, seems that booting from opencore the macOS recovery can't use "csrutil" (this seems an opencore issue), if you have an USB Catalina Patcher try use this method (without booting from opencore): https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...unsupported-macs-thread.2242172/post-28640224

or this (also from an USB Catalina Patcher if you don't have a previous macOS Recovery): https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...unsupported-macs-thread.2242172/post-28654818

check in BigSur normal booting (using prelinkedkernel fix4 you can boot without opencore) that "csrutil authenticated-root" is disabled.
Ok now I'm rewriting my 16 gb USB pendrive (the other one finished on Tyrrhenian Sea with my Toyota Yaris key  ) with dusdude1 Catalina patcher, then I will add OpenCoreLoader3 and csrutil2 :)

I found another bug, I insert a flash card in My Mac Mini, it's a card with photos, if I open the private Folder on the card, created for a photo camera, Finder crashes.

Above that message, it should say "Installing IO80211Family to:" and the next line should say the name of the volume you entered in the command. Is it listing the correct volume name, or is part of the name getting chopped off? (I think I should be able to modify the script to find the drive automatically, if you can wait until next week.)

What you describe sounds to me like the volume not getting sealed. If I remember correctly, the progress bar after the 29min one takes longer if the volume's being sealed (or if not longer, then it still takes a long time -- it feels like it takes longer!). My patch-kexts.sh script should work either way, however -- I've tested it on both sealed and unsealed. (I'll see if I can create a shell script or small utility or something to tell the user whether the drive is actually sealed or whether it's just an unsealed snapshot root.)

There should be no problem with the Mac not recognizing the SSD as an SSD. (I'm pretty sure the external SSD I'm using in most of my tests isn't recognized as one by my MacBook Pro either.)

Why do you have to use OpenCoreAPFSloader3? An iMac13,1 should be able to just boot APFS straight off an external USB drive, and with my patcher there should be no need to have OpenCore spoof anything (at least not on an iMac that recent). (OpenCoreAPFSloader3 is probably not the problem here, and if it works it works, but I'm curious.)

Edit: I have no idea why that triple-posted! Anyway I've deleted the two duplicates.
Without the OpenCoreAPFSloader3 usb when I try to to boot directly off my external ssd using a seagate USB adapter I get a circle with a line through and when I run first aid on the ssd I get a few mismatch error. I think since its a ssd USB adapter it recognizes it as a seagate hdd instead ssd and its the only adapter I have to connect a ssd/hhd to a USB port I have had it since the windows xp/vista days

Does anyone know if the snapshots in Big Sur can be completely pruned away when booting from the recovery volume? Since I am testing an installation made on an external usb drive from a supported machine, I could put it back on the supported machine and remove the snapshot from the recovery volume's terminal if that is an option.

I already started LAN. I just added the nvenet.kext from Catalina with your script right inside IONetworkingFamily.kext (I added another item to the script myself .
The driver start up, but I can’t check LAN network - now there is no router with LAN.
In truth, this kext may have been added to Catalina with the dosedude patcher - I don't know.

I removed the spoofing for Imac 14.4 and the speedstep CPU started up. The spoofing is only needed for installation or upgrade.

The webcam is working. Acceleration of Tesla, VP3 decoder, and Handoff does not work. (we need to patch the Bluetooth framework or return spoofing, but then we have to patch speedstep and AGPM)

And what else does not work, as you know?

Finally It worked 🤓 SIP disabled on Big Sur and together with dosdude1 Cat patcher I still have your opencoreLoader3 as a separate voice on boot screen, without reinstalling it. Thank you, now I can continue to modify and optimize BigSur beta 2

I'm a rolling stone.
Some things regarding the install are just plain stupid or intentionally made hard.
I wanted to create a USB installer, my Big Sur installer resided on an external disk, I couldn't figure out
why terminal refused to make the installer, it said it was not a valid installer, guess what, I moved it to /Applications, it worked, so picky.

The reason your iPhone is acting up is because of a bug with the Facebook api and any app that uses it, will probably get fixed in the next beta.

As for your Mac, That's just a risk you take when you install macOS beta

Maybe I could be wrong but maybe since some of us who don't have wifi working or have an ethernet cable to sign in with our Apple ID maybe that is why the patch-kexts.sh are not working as I can't sign in the terminal in Big Sur usb so we are only standard users with no Administrator rights to make changes from the terminal

Check the Extensions list in System Profiler opened from the About this Mac dialog. Specifically look for multiple copies of IO80211Family.kext. If your hardware requires downgrading that kext from the Big Sur copy (1200.12.2b1) make sure that one isn't showing up as being loaded rather than the older copy. I ran into this issue with the Big Sur copy of AppleHDA.kext in S/L/E loading rather than the High Sierra one installed in L/E. I had to delete the competing copy from Big Sur as the precedence of loading for these competing kext seems somewhat random.

All of that is known. The issue is whether building prelinked kernels (a deprecated feature) can properly be done under a mounted snapshot. One definitely has to execute the kextcache commands through chroot to keep the paths correct but there still seems to be some incompatibilities in the resulting kernels for legacy usb support. It would be very helpful if someone on hardware that didn't require legacy usb support could build and test a prelinked kernel on a mounted snapshot. This would at least tell us if the problems are legacy usb specific or more general to that whole approach.

ps Remember that when you go into single user mode and rebuild a prelinked kernel that way, the kernel cache has become purged. However the presence of the snapshot will inhibit the purged kext cache from getting written out to the / partition. That is one worry.

There's another oddity, I opened InstallAssistant before today, a BIG Sur Installer more or less is created instantly in the Applications Folder, that's an almost 10 GB installer, some magic done here.
I know it can't be 10 GB, it takes considerable more time to create a ~10GB App than just a second or so, even on fast SSD's it takes long, CPU is normally also involved for instance for unpacking.
I think it's all links and some trickery, like fooling the Finder it's 10 GB

Hi,

My first try installing in a Imac 10,1(late 2009), make an usb installer following "parrot geek" method.
I'm able to boot into the installer, but the funny thing, I don't have mouse or keyboard working! No magic keyboard or mouse, no usb keyboard or mouse, nothing. Staring at the recovery screen without the ability to do nothing!
Anyone seen this problem, any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Yes, had that as well, I pressed the buttons on the side of both my trackpad and keyboard, didn't seem to work for a while, but then the mouse showed up and I could click the button to proceed.
