Bonjour,
Monterey on Imac 27" 16GB 1Tb hard drive (original) mid 2010 ---Issues
Mail not working freezing--replaced by Spark
Safari slow --replaced by Opera
Photo freeze -- replaced by Gimp and LR
thank you

Hello everybody. Im having problems installing Monterrey on my MacBook Pro 15 mid 2014. The thing is I ran through every part of the installation, but at the end the apple logo stays on the screen with half bar completed and the voiceover starts to talk. but nothing else. Did I explane myself? does anyone knows how to fix this problem?

You may think about replacing the graphics card with a metal compatible one. Your iMac11,3 Mid 2010 is the most compatible for such an replacement! All your (iMac & Monterey) problems will go away at once...

Boot into safe mode and apply patches again

No need to have all these compromises.
Just replace your iMac GPU to an AMD one, like the WX4130.
It is well worth the expenditure to extend the usage of your iMac for probably a few years running the latest macOS with acceptable performance for daily chores.

I think I would break my machine if I tried replacing the graphics card. The patches are far from perfect, but they give us some choice.

10+ year-old Macs being able to do most things on the latest Mac OS with stock hardware is pretty good (well my machines are stock except for doubling the RAM).

It is a job for a long cold December Omikron lockdown Sunday :)

My Monterey is installed in a partition on the HDD part of the Fusion drive of the iMac14,2 (27-inch, Late 2013) since Catalina is in the fusion drive container. It runs fine (I don't use it all the time) but I am thinking about replacing the Fusion drive with normal SSDs.

It was slow in the beginning but the OCLP post install (adds Nvidia Kepler acceleration) and maybe some time fixes that.

Thunderbolt Target Display Mode (TB TDM) (press command F2) works in Monterey (before, I was using High Sierra for TB TDM).
The HDD of the fusion drive was horribly slow - it had some S.M.A.R.T. errors that made it run slow. I replaced the 128 GB SSD (794/351 MB/s read/write) and the 1 TB HDD (4/9 MB/s) with some iMac specific upgrades from OWC (includes tools and display adhesive strips and suction cups and the SATA SSD comes with a heat sensor) Aura Pro X2 (825/774 MB/s) in iMac's built-in PCIe 2.0 x2 Apple slot and Mercury Electra 6G SSD (515/507 MB/s). And I maxed the RAM.

Now the OSs are all running at the proper speed.

I couldn't get Disk Utility or diskutil to clone the APFS partitions (one for Catalina and one for Monterey) from the fusion drive so I had to reinstall the OSes and use Migration Assistant.

I used my DiskUtil.sh script to fix the volume icons so they all appear while running each different OS. But I couldn't replace the hard link for the .VolumeIcon.icns on one of the Monterey partitions (I probably have to mount the snapshot?).

One annoying thing is that my account on the Catalina partition has a different id than on my Monterey partition so I can't access the files in the user folders of one OS while booted in another. This happened because my account on the Catalina partition is the second account instead of the first. One fix is to adjust permissions so all administrators can access the folders.

This seems to be an Apple APFS error. A lot of people have experienced it since May/June this year even on supported systems. Some users where successfully by just deleting older APFS file systems generated from High Sierra, Mojave, Catalina from the system, completely!

Sometimes it comes with crashing apps including the finder. A fast fix (in case it happens again) is entering sudo purge on the command line using the terminal app.

Hi, I have a suggestion for @Syncretic.
Please in future there will be a possible SSE4.2 emulator release for the Mac Pro 3.1 that let run apps that require SSE4.2 (Photoshop, InDesign, Luminar etc?) and not only for AMD compatibility?
At the moment the SSE4.2 fix for Photoshop 2021 & 2022 crash every time at startup.

Thank you in advance

AHOY!? Only one troubling bug? remains in OCLP with BRCM2046 Macs - Apple B/T Keyboard and Trackpad or Mouse do not connect until the Desktop appears. Unavailable during any BootPicker. Must have wired KB and mouse to select. Always worked perfect in BigSur and earlier. Otherwise OCLP_032 is ready to ship. ?

No big deal. I always have a USB keyboard connected. Hate it when the bluettoh keyboard doesn´t send The Alt key.

Actually, for me it is a big deal. Mini is across the room, I am 15 feet from 46" LED TV which makes a great display. Wired KB has to be reconnected to make any bootpicker useful. PITA ??

Checking in. Macbook Pro 11,1 13inch 2.6 i5, 8gb.

Finally got round to sticking a new NVME drive in, went with a 250gb P2 which doubled my existing storage and is more than enough for my use case. I went with a straight OCLP Montery install and then used migration assitant to move my 11.6.1 Big Sur data over from time machine. All seems to be running well so far after an initially slow start but I expected that; I think it should be a relatively boring update for my model as I wasn't expecting anything to break but I'll update in here if anything crops up.

Hallo

My iMAC 14.2 will not boot, after patch system

OCLP 32n rdrand
MacOS 12.1b3
