As nicely as OCLP already woks, I think these older machines are worthy of a sticker like that to spread the gospel:

Thank you, hvds, for taking the time to look into the issue once more.

I indeed was looking for the FW prompts in the build protocol and it wasn't there, which was entirely my fault.

So, I built everything again as per your detailed instructions, and it executed as you described.

Thus, the FW issue looks resolved. I hope, it will be in the next OCLP 0.3.4 release.

Thank you for the tip on how to get the n builds via clicking on "Code">download .zip on the Github OCLP page.

Awesome, hvds. You made my day.

Merry Christmas to you.
Thank you, and I wish the same to you.

My benefit from our conversation here is that I have now put my installer SSD into the FW enclosure permanently, and can enjoy the higher bandwidth during installation, as you intend for your system.

This is a great outcome of our exchange of thoughts, hvds.
And your skills and expertise to provide the mods to have them then included into OCLP have led to a huge benefit for us having those fast FW800 ports on our legacy machines.

(Apple pushing FW as their very own hardware standard and then callously discarding the whole thing looks like pathological narcissism on their part, figuratively speaking, of course.)

Well, I will use FW-boot/install from now on o n l y, if your mods will it make into the future releases of OCLP.
I also saw FW boot option in OCLP 0.3.4n GUI prefs.

Awesome work, hvds.

Q: How to bypass an SSE 4.2 check upon installation of an application, while the app doesn't require SSE4.2 to run?

Successfully installed Syncretic's MouSSE 0.95 into /Library/Extensions of my current Monterey, as per Syncretic's instructions here on MacRumors:

https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...emulation-to-enable-amd-metal-driver.2206682/

Still receiving the prompt "SSE4.2" not present on my MBP, then the installer of the application quits.

Under Catalina, dosdude1's patcher contains the option for SSE4.2, and the installation of aforementioned application completes without error.

Would anyone know how to resolve this issue under Monterey?

Does anyone have a working patch for a 2013 MacBook Air that could possibly attach it in a response or DM?

downloaded Monterey and thought I did the olcp thing but it got to the black screen with the apple and progress bar and stayed at less than a minute remaining.... and never finished, ended up having to put Big Sur back on it.

“a minute remaining . . . . . . . is an Apple sight-gag which can take up to an hour to complete.;)

Hello!
I have a problem when I boot into the drive: "Display: Lilu Dev:mad: failed to obtain model information, retrying" Model: mpb 15 - 2012 (i disabled GPU Nvidia)
I had a similar issue with my MacPro5,1 here that didn't really get noticed (could be wrong and just didn't notice a reply). All I did was do a forced reboot and it worked. Not really sure what's going on with Lilu but it could be a bug with certain configurations.

Freezing after wakeup from sleep

Ive updated my iMac late 2013 27" to 12.1 also oclp to 0.3.3 and since then Ive notice spontaneous freezing after I wake up my iMac from sleep and I have to force shut down with the back powerbutton. Did anyone have the same problem or know how to fix it? Thanks

Doesn't make sense. SSE4.2 patch is the same as MouSSE.
MouSSE does not fake the CPU ID feature flag that an SSE 4.2 check would use.

Use Migration Assistant to move the Catalina install to Monterey?

What? Are you asking how to download Catalina? The OCLP install instructions have one way to get it.
No, I wouldn't ask for basic info like that. I am precisely asking how to bypass the SSE4.2 check by a software installation. Once it is bypassed, I know how to get it up and running.

So, can you tell me how to get it done, if MouSSE does not do the trick?

I was confused. It's not that you can't install Catalina. It's just that you would prefer not to. Maybe you could install to a Catalina VM? But that's about the same amount of hassle as installing to a non-VM installation of Catalina.

Can the installer be edited to remove or skip the check? See if it contains any scripts.

It is like you said. The suggested modifications to the installer are way over my expertise. Thank you for taking the time to answer.

Hi Guys,

I'm trying to upgrade from Big Sur to Monterey on my MBP Mid 2012 (MacbookPro 9.1) with OCLP.

During the installation process (after booting on my USB Patched Key) I got (12 min remaining) the following error : "An error occurred loading the update".

Already tried to rebuild a booting key with another USB support, same issue.

Any idea ?

Thanks

L.

Worked for me on my MPB 9,1. I don't have an idea - but suggest, that you try again with activated verbose mode (TUI 0.3.3 menu: 5=>1=>1. Enable Verbose Mode. - Remember to "Install OpenCore to USB" again for this mode to be activated.

I tried verbose mode but no error appears (only show the OCLP boot process where there's no issue)
