You are basically telling everybody who cares about this topic, who is eager to test, to try out, just for fun or just to learn something new to eff off. That's the developers audience. Many have been there from the beginning. Nightly build or not, its called a community and this is a support forum. If you don't want to help, just don't answer.
No, what I am saying is the nightly builds are not for hand-holding. Asking questions about the public release and the documentation should be encouraged. Honestly, although I have never done it, i would be happy with the developers removing the nightly builds and instead encouraging users to install Python or build the executable themselves.

This MacBook Air had been used with bootcamp before.
Run Boot Camp Assistant and let it remove Windows completely.

That should restore back to single Mac partition (claim back all the disk space).

If something other than BCA was used to remove Windows partition (eg. disk utility), it would not have cleaned up properly and could result in what mess you are seeing.

Then, maybe try this.

Why not.
Going via the "green button" of https://github.com/dortania/OpenCore-Legacy-Patcher and running from source provides a minimum exposure to the commit history of the nightly, to python, and terminal. Also the code is so well structured that by browsing it one can learn how it works, and even hunt problems down oneself - helping the developers.

Just saw newer beta available and without reverting the OCLP post-patch (for my HD4000 support), the OTA was a little over 11GB and installed within an hour post download. Of course, I had to reinstall the OCLP post-patch to restore my HD4000 support.

Now running: 12.3 Beta (21E5212f)

No impact to EFI firmware, persisted the latest for my machine (425.0.0.0.0).

Hi guys! Happy to report that I have succesfully updated OTA my MBP 9,2 mid 2012 non retina to macOS Monterey 12.3 Beta 3 using OCPL 0.2.5 GUI. All working perfect after applying the post patch. Thanks to everyone involved and have a great one!

Completely agree. Although I haven't done it, the documentation is well-written and seems easily done. As long as the nightly exists, there is no motivation to do so since I actively peruse the ChangeLog and determine if the current nightly is worth the installation. For example, the Feb 11 nightly added useful fixes to non-Metal and the keyboard backlight for my MacBookPro 5,1. There is no reason to go beyond it at this time. With my current hardware configuration as shown in my signature, OCLP works at near perfection.

The comment is simply to state that I am a believer in "weed-out". The developers began the process by hiding the nightly links. They could take a step further by eliminating the nightly build and having users complete the last step which I would cheerfully and happily do if required to do so.

Dear all, I updated my MacBook 5,1 to 12.2 with OCLP 0.4.2 and patched it afterwards. Everything works, safe for WiFi, which does not find networks. If I repatch, it works again, but only until the next reboot. Any ideas? Patching with an earlier OCLP? Thanks.

Here again no problems updating MacPro3,1 to 12.3 Beta3.
Everything works, even UniversalControl still works without problems with iPadPro 1st Gen.
Thanks again to the developers. 👍

The developers have made learning-before-using a Nightly part of the process. Too many were grabbing and then demanding support from developers, so access has been reduced to those who can read. 😉🤫🥸

All in all working smooth for my MacBookPro6,2 (mid 2010), using OCLP v0.4.2. It's actually running cooler than when I was on the Catalina Patcher. Granted I do have to redo my thermal paste from when I swapped my logic board. But this was using the same board.

Minor graphical issues, but kinda "solved"
  • Weird mouse hover color discoloration on finder. Solved by Reducing transparency in Accessibility.
  • Keyboard backlight. I would prefer an OEM solution Like through the patcher. It visually doesn't show animation on screen, but using the recommended app Lab Tick does the job. However, it won't dim when the screen goes sleep 🤷‍♂️
  • I'm using Monitor Control for my external display. Works fine for the most part.

Is there any way to customize the EFI picker screen? For example add the OCLP version, or text, or change the background colour?
Regarding the background colour, joevt has described it in his post #3,890 . Useful for distinguishing the OCLP phase of booting from the subsequent ones. Eg find "Backgr" in the config.plist and replace AAAAAA with /39/AA.

Same for my 10,1 though I'm on an even older firmware 262.0.0.0.0. Please post back when you figure out how to update, I'm planning to install the latest "Supported" (at least officially) of Catalina on a USB to see if it'll update my firmware which may not work since its not the built in ssd.
233.0.0.0.0 over here.

I was thinking along the same lines, clean install back to my last supported version (Catalina) and upgrade back up to where I am now. Does anyone have a list of macOS releases that include firmware updates, Catalina and above?

This should be the one that contains the latest firmware updates when running Catalina. Besides, wouldn't it be enough to install Catalina on an external hard drive, swap it with the internal one, run the update and switch back?

When downgrading to Catalina you might need to know this:
