I installed this on my 2011 MBP (15") with broken AMD Radeon GPU. This was after I installed Catalina using this: Catalina on 2011 MBP

However, sleep and screen brightness control did not work. Overall the speed was VERY slow. Loading app was slow, watching video online was very jerky in the beginning.

I ended up reinstalling Catalina.
You have to apply the Post Install Volume Patches (selection n. 3 in OCLP TUI). In addition you didn't detailed your system: is RAM extended (>4Gb), is your internal disk an HD or SSD (SSD is the best) ? I'm writing from a MBP like yours that is very performant and without any artifact and glitch.

I did the Post Install Volume Patches. My MBP has 16 GB RAM with 250 GB SSD.

Perhaps it was because I installed Monterey 12.3 beta???
I will try it with Monterey 12.2.1 and see how that works.

Also, under Misc Settings in OCLP v0.4.2 did you use "Partially Enabled"? I used Fully Enabled hoping to use AirPlay. Maybe this caused weird performance issues.

Yes, I left the 'partially enabled' setting. I'm running both 12.2.1 and 12.3b4.

🪓Mini3,1 w/macOS 12.3b5>OCLP_043nTUI offline variant - the "Messages crashing after 20 minutes bug" is back.💣 macOS 12.2.1 Messages v.14 also crashes after 20 minutes. 💣 System log gave this, attached -

ASB🟢 might want to look into this?;)

No idea where to ask this question, I wish there were OCLP specific forums.

I finally have Monterey 12.2.1 running on MBA 4,2 (Mid-2011). It was a bit harder to install than I expected. I am sad it won't run the latest GarageBand version.

I cannot get a FiFine external USB microphone to be recognized by MacOS, nor can use the built in audio in/out jack with adapter for a microphone. The MBA internal microphone works fine.

I need to have a way to add an external microphone to this thing, as it's a primary part of my recording studio. Any suggestions?

There is on P.1 - For easy troubleshooting and discussion with developers, we recommend joining the OpenCore Patcher Paradise Discord. 👀

This is always the case after the fix for the “Catalyst Scroll” issue, even on the latest Big Sur with the latest OCLP nightly build on my non-metal 2009 iMac. I suspect this has become the same issue as the default maps, News etc.

Looking at the log, clearly BlurBeta which pre-dates the Catalyst Scrolling fix by a month or two is implicated. ASentientBot aka ASB or 🟢 has been working on the Legacy Video Patches, hopefully this is on his plate? 🤷‍♂️

If this is the case, can you disable the "BlurBeta" feature in OCLP to see if it makes any difference?

Update: Just tried by disabling the OCLP v0.4.3n "BlurBeta" feature running Big Sur 11.6.5(20G525) on my non-metal 2009 iMac. The Messages app still crashes every 20 minutes.

Please describe how to "turn-off" BlurBeta? Serious question.👀

In my 2011 Macbook 17", discrete GPU disabled, works like a charm. I used the TUI version.

That feature is not in the TUI. BlurBeta was set once with the Terminal after an early beta as a test with ASB🟢. Persists to this day. Never used the GUI which obviously has bugs. Still looking for the Terminal cmd to actually remove the function and confirm. 👀 defaults write -g ASB_BlurBeta -bool false Nope, Messages crashes still there.

The GUI has been re-developed lately and shares code and functionality with the TUI (exceptions are possible). I am still using the TUI because I wrote some simple scripts to generate configs from a single machine for different target systems.

So I had some time today and reintalled Monterey using TUI OCLP and using the "Partially Enabled" setting, which disables AirPlay and SideCar.

That seems to have resolved the issues I observed with "Fully Enabled" setting.
Bottom line: don't set AirPlay/SideCar for 2011 MBP.

SideCar will no work because of the missing metal iGPU and AirDrop/AirPlay needs BT 4.0 with all post High Sierra macOS versions. Missing hardware cannot be patched back…technically it could be possible if Apple would publish some code :)

Maybe someone can help :) I have run the EFI patcher and am trying to upgrade from Big Sur to Monterey, however, when I restart and check for software updates, my Mac says it is up to date, and I can't download Monterey? I have a MacBook Pro 11,1 mid 2014 13 inch.

Are you using the OCLP 0.4.2 patcher if so have you applied the root volume patches for you MBP.

Hi

I'm trying to enable Content Cache in Monterey.
I added Restrictevents.kext to kext folder, it's on the Kernel part of config.plist and it's enabled. I added -revasset on boot-args and finally enable AdviceFeature on Generic, miscellaneous.

Nevertheless, Content Cache at sharing is greyed out.

What am I missing ?

You can create a bootable USB Monterey Installer using OCLP Patcher. You can then use the USB stick to update to Monterey.

I did that for my 2011 MBP (from Catalina to Monterey).
