On my MacPro 4.1 (flashed to 5.1) Monterey 12.2.1 is working fine with OCLP 4.2. However, Software Update does not show the update to 12.3 ("Your mac is up to date").

Is anybody else experiencing this?

I am unsure if it's a good idea to update via OCLP 4.3 and image download just yet.

BTW, I really appreciate all the hard work and commitment by everyone keeping our old Macs alive!

Had this last night with an iMac and minimal spoofing (in fact the iMac refuses to see any update even on the developer seed for a while using different versions of OCLP) and my solution was to download a full InstallAssistant.pkg and create and use a new USB installer.

Edit: It was the only one out of four similar equipped and configured systems which showed this problem.

My retina MBP 10,1 reports the same card and has worked perfectly for many months. I was gonna upgrade it to a faster card but I don't use wifi on that m/c so no point really. Bluetooth is solid, initially had to reset it sometimes but that problem has gone away. Here's what the system report picks up:

Firmware Version: Broadcom BCM43xx 1.0 (7.77.111.1 AirPortDriverBrcmNIC-1710.3)
Wow, up to Monterey with this chip? I must have misread the OP; I thought it said support had been dropped. You say you don’t use Wi-Fi, though… does it work and you just don’t use it? I guess that’s my real question. 😛 Thanks for the reply!

If it does actually work, I might give this whole thing another go. Though cracking open iBooks Author only to see it render the UI but not my book is going to result in an immediate restore to High Sierra…

This current 6.1 version needs a update coming shortly for MacOS 12.3, look for another update Wednesday.
CCC 6.1 in my supported Macbook Pro 16" 2019 made a perfect 12.3 clon for me. I´m now working from it just for testing. Can´t test it in Mac Pro 2010 as I couldn´t update to 12.3.

Same model here. But mine shows the update. Tried yesterday but installation stucks.

Also tried OCLP 0.4.3, but gave me a lot of hardware errors. Trackpad, for instance, is not detected.

I will try a clean install from an USB Monterey 12.3 installer later.

It’s interesting that your machine showed the update. I will probably wait a little before installing it manually via OCLP.

Correct. Wi-fi does work perfectly if I enable it. Bluetooth works perfectly.

No guarantees though, Mac Pros seem to be the hardest range to get going, or at least it seems that way following the discussions on here. Good luck!

This is funny. I got MBP11,3 (with Nvidia discrete graphics) and MBP11,4 natively supported by Monterey. Both are running Monterey 12.3. MBP11,3 uses -no_compat_check boot argument. MBP11,3:

MBP11,4 (Intel only Monterey supported):

Universal control is not selectable:
View attachment 1973957
Anyone knows why Universal control is not selectable?

Edit: SIP is enabled on the MBP11,4 and disabled on the MBP11,3. Does it make a difference?

Universal Control is compatible with MacBook Pro (2016 and later). That's why UC is not working in your MBP 11.4.

Using -no_compat_check worked for me, but my MBP froze or rebooted often (at least once a day). I learned that using OC is better in my case.

I've re-built OpenCore, now at 0.4.3, and Universal Control… I'm not sure. The Universal Control… button shows up, as it did before, so I'm assuming part of macOS thinks it should work? But it doesn't seem to.

(Maybe the release notes are saying "if your Mac natively supports Monterey, but not Universal Control, we're patching it to add UC". Mine doesn't natively support Monterey. But it does have Haswell…)

So I gather I also need to spoof my MacBookPro11,2 to a 11,4 (since this is apparently hardcoded somewhere in Universal Control), but I'm unsure how to do this. If I go to SMBIOS settings and select Minimal and MacBookPro11,4 ("Allow Native Spoofs" is greyed out), then rebuild and reboot, About This Mac still gives the real model, and launching OpenCore-Patcher again shows no spoof settings. There's also no post-install patch available.

@OllieW, did you solve the graphic glitch of the Control Center? My sliders are a mess like in your pictures. I got Monterey 12.2.1 and oclp 0.4.2 on a 17" MBP late 2011 using the integrated Intel HD3000. The other gpu is fried. Post-install patches are in place (AMD TeraScale 2 and Intel Sandy Bridge). "Beta Blur" is activated. Cheers
The graphical glitches of the sliders with post-install patches are fixed in OCLP 0.4.3 - give it a try!

My White MacBook is working nearly perfectly with Monterey 12.3 and OCLP 0.4.3 - there are only these final bugs:
  • The wrong keyboard layout is shown at lock screen after power-on and fresh boot, but the correct layout is used. After clicking on "English - US" it will switch automatically to right setting. Entering lock-screen with running system or from standby will always show the correct keyboard setting.
  • Resuming from hibernation (suspend-to-disk) still doesn't work (will hang right before showing lock screen)
  • AirDrop won't work with upgraded WiFi-card, but AirPlay works perfectly. (Possibly a problem with the WiFi fixes for the regular WiFi-card which aren't needed - any idea how to turn this off?!)
Any chance that video acceleration for some codecs on non-metal graphics can be optimised? I've tried out several browsers (Safari, Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Opera), but some videos are accelerated and some not.. :-(

As I said earlier this morning, tried a clean install 12.3 form USB, OCLP 0.4.3. Then migration assistant from previous 12.2.1.

All seems to work like a charm.

Gonna clone it to the internal NVMe. Fingers crossed.

Never mind. I guess patching or spoofing isn't needed after all. Instead, my mistake was that the iPad has a different Apple ID than my Mac's main account. After rebooting, then logging in to a different account that matches the iPad's Apple ID, things eventually worked. Observations:

  • pretty cool when it does work!
  • macOS seems more and more finicky especially with Fast User Switching. For example, Control Center intermittently would not show up.
  • Handoff (as tested with Safari) took a while to appear. Then Sidecar took another while. Then, eventually, Universal Control showed up. The user interface is quite unhelpful in this regard, but searching Console for my iPad's name revealed that it was busy negotiating with the device.

How come I can enable it on MBP11,3? That is my question. I know the hardware compatibility, but my question is why can I enable it on one and not the other (both are supposed to be incompatible).
Just FYI UC in my MBP 10,1 (mid 2012 15" retina) is totally functional. Maybe it has problems with graphics? Isn't yours the one with problematic discrete graphics?

No I said it works on the MBP11,3 it does not work on MBP11,4 (no discrete graphics)

It has been a while and I can't remember the process too well. I have a 2011 15" MBP 8,2 with 12.2 and OCLP 0.4.2 on internal SSD which is working well.

Now that 12.3 is out and 0.4.3 do I need to work off an external USB to Build and Install OpenCore again or do I just update the Apple OS from Software Update and then run the Post Install Root Patch with newly downloaded OCLP?

I am a bit confused about the Build and Install OpenCore part of it - since I did it with 0.4.2 first and now there is a new version. Thanks!!!

It is because of the -no_compat_check. It enables the feature because it does not check for compatibility. Try the -no_compat_check on your 11,4 too. I guess UC is going to work...

after downloading OCLP v4.3 to your machine (just so its in your applications folder),
do an in place update of Monterey from System Preferences/Software update.

After the update, when the machine self boots to v12.3,
Build and Install OpenCore (with any optional settings) to your internal Macintosh HD's EFI
AND
apply Post Install Root Patch, specific to your machine
Reboot

On Late 2009 iMac 10,1 21 inch, After update to Monterey v12.3 with OCLP v4.3,
Messages will not launch correctly ( no messages viewer window & menu selections corrupted),
...then will crash. ...was working fine under 12.2.1

Any Suggestions, please?
