Today, I upgraded two iMacs2009 to 12.3.
One is 21inch without upgraded any hardware. After oclp patch, it works OK.
One is 27inch with upgraded graphics card and WiFi / BT. except that it crashed when starting Safari for the first time, it works near perfection.

I want to know whether the two iMacs can use the same set of mouse and keyboard through universal control? I tried but failed.
In fact, I still don't understand how to use universal control,
Is it necessary to upgrade the hardware of both imacs?

… And when SIP is only partially disabled (or lowered, as required for root patching: see the picture above)…? Does TCC work, in this case, or not? Thanks…
I don’t know? I did an upgrade of Monterey to 12.3 with latest OCLP and apps now prompt for permission to access camera, mic etc... so I would assume yes?

For those with older MacBooks Pro (10,1), check SilentNight report on whether you need to update the EFI firmware, last round I was at 425 but upon checking today, I saw 426 was recommended. Booting into Catalina, while it did detect an update from Apple, applying the update did not resolve. I suspect since I had not cleared PRAM prior to booting into Catalina, that prevented a successful update. Having learned from that prior experience, cleared PRAM and reinstalled Catalina from scratch on my external HD, applied the recommended patches from Apple brought my items up to date (specifically EFI, MRT). If you're like me and want to stay on the latest possible firmware, give it a shot though before booting into Catalina, clear your PRAM to avoid running into a wall with the update.

Anyone has problems with external drives?
I update 12.3 -> run patcher and all seems to be ok.
Now I find out that my external drives are missing? I try my Mercury electra dual in another Mac (M1) and it works fine.
But it not work at all in my OCLP Mac mini?

Other external drives seems to work so there is issues only my OWC Mercury Elite Pro Dual (USB3)

I test that also my M1 mini and OCLP iMac -> both volumes work fine.
Mac mini reconize Elite Pro dual, but cannot mount/see disks? After restart I can see disk in desktop but it unmount immediately (and get error: you unmount disk wrong.. etc)
in diskutil there is no these disks so wtf?

As of this post, I'm currently running Monterey 12.2.1 with OCLP 0.4.3 (Opencore Legacy Patcher) on an external-mounted 2TB Kingston NV1 on my MBP 2014 (11.3).

I've been trying OCLP for the last couple of weekends or so, met with failure at all attempts to get Monterey to install (stuck in startup loop) until I figured out that it was the graphics driver causing the problem. I also screwed up the OCLP install, as such it restarts back into my hard drive (which also has OCLP) in each stage of the install, so I had to restart and force an EFI boot (sounds ominous, but it's just the Option key startup) each time the install goes through a stage. So I see the drive changing name from "untitled" to "Mac OS Install" to the drive name I assigned. That's when I know to force a restart in Safe Mode.

I was able to install 12.2.1 last night, twice, but now, the problem is when migrating Data from my internal drive. Each time, I had to redo the process of installing OCLP and Monterey installer on a USB install drive because it gets screwed up after the failed migrate (which shouldn't have happened if I did not reset the NVRAM/PRAM, but now I know better).

After a relatively quick and successful install (because I already know the cycle) I'm not going to attempt to migrate data from my Internal (1TB Kingston A2000) since it's been causing problems somewhat, at least not right now while testing it. I'm going to have to test Adobe CC as well as my other apps for design and teaching, by signing into my CC account and installing the necessary apps I use for Graphic Design: AI, PS, ID.

I've already set my iCloud account up, which is the easy part, but I would have to manually install Adobe CC. My other settings (web browser and stuff) will have to wait as a I fully test Monterey with the apps I use. I'll install 12.3 later (point update), I think 12.3 still has a few bugs since it just got out of Beta.

But, everything's working, Bluetooth, WIFI, Graphics Acceleration, the Keyboard backlight and Display brightness. and for something running on an External SSD, it's relatively running fast (or, at least when I launch freshly installed CC apps).

Eather you download the InstallAssistant from page 1 or you can use the terminal:
softwareupdate --list-full-installers

Which gives you a list. For instance to download 12.2.1 (to Applications folder):
softwareupdate --fetch-full-installer 'macOS Monterey 12.2.1-21D62'

The most recent GUI versions of OCLP (0.4.2 and 0.4.3 offline) already provides a catalog of all the most recent MacOS releases and allows you to create the Installer from within OCLP. No more fussing over installer packages or creating the installer via Terminal, everything is now in OCLP.

Just a report:

Successfully went from 12.2.1--->12.3 on Mid2011 MBA 4,2

zero issues so far.

Procedure was: update OCLP to latest, remove previous patches with latest OLCP, update to 12.3 via system update, reapply patches with latest OCLP... which I think is 0.43?

It's nice to have native keyboard LEDs working correctly again, also nice to have volume and other sliders working correctly.

I hope that the great guy in Ukraine who makes all this happen comes out of that whole mess OK, and may they please just stop fighting soon. Absolutely stupid war.

I now have three working startup drives. After AlphaPrime, Omega Prime was <cinch> to install, but I still had to patch post install. Since Omega Prime is a secondary Volume with Alpha Prime, I can simply <delete> it and start over if the Migration get screwed up again. I will still use X9 (A2000) as my main drive later on if everything goes well. The NV1 will remain a test bed for new OS and OCLP Versions, but I might get another A2000 and an enclosure for it.

As a followup to this post, I just want to say that 12.3 and 0.4.3 feels a lot less stable overall than 12.2.1

Random iMessage crashes, disappearing title bars, Firefox randomly stops sensing mouse clicks, lots of other weird random bugginess.

I feel like the issues are more related to 12.3 than OCLP, but don't know for sure.

12.2.1, aside from the known issues, felt rock solid. This release, not so much.

It's not OCLP 0.4.3, but Monterey 12.3. I did mention earlier that 12.3 is still buggy just coming out of Beta.

That's why I installed 12.2.1 on one volume and 12.3 on another so I can test both.

… Hmmm… Sadly, after some more experiments on my late 2013 MacBook Pro 11,3, I discovered that the TCC access prompts only partially work, in a root patched Monterey 12.3: some are indeed present (for example, prompting for access to calendar, photos, etc.), but others are strangely absent, when they should indeed be there; in particular, I installed Parallels Desktop (which on first run prompts for access to the Desktop, Downloads, Documents, etc. folders), both without (NVidia dGPU disabled and SIP fully enabled) and with root patching (dGPU enabled and SIP lowered), on freshly installed 12.3 systems (on external SSD): well, in the latter case, there were no prompts for approving access to those folders, which thus were accessed automatically, without asking. So, in this case, there seems to be an at least partial problem, with TCC not asking for approval to access files and folders (and thus nothing appears as approved in System Preferences: Privacy and Security: Privacy: Files and Folders): could this perhaps have to do with the “allow unrestricted filesystem” flag (see below), which is applied after root patching...? Anyway, it’s a rather serious security lowering, IMHO (YMMV): so, would it be possible to fix this glitch, in some way…?

(… Of course, a simple but not ideal workaround could be to disable the dGPU in NVRAM (with SIP fully enabled): but this would mean no screen brightness controls, which thus would have to be provided also for these more recent MBPs; which, if through kernel extensions, however would again require root patching. So, the ideal solution would probably be to maintain the dGPU enabled with root patching, and make some minor adjustment in order to fully enable TCC: but not sure if this is even possible, however…)

I wouldn't say it's a glitch, and this part should have clued you in. Just remember, anything that disables SIP in part or in full will always pose a risk to any system.

^^^ Yes, that’s true, of course: I just didn’t expect this to be visible at the user level (see the partially missing TCC prompts)…

I have the same dGPU (GT 750M), how did you overcome the graphics issue? Last time I tried back in December I had to boot in Safe Mode all the time. Thanks

Quoting myself and highlighting:

I know that the installation has gone through the next stage and is stuck at the Apple logo/progress bar screenwise because I started to hear the Voice Over set up prompt. I realized this after having my earphones inserted (and I don't know why I did that, I was installing after all) and have read about the dGPU issue with 2011 MBPs, but instead of doing a Terminal reset of the NVRAM, which I couldn't figure out when to do anyways, I just restarted in Safe Mode, which was tricky at first try during the first install, because I really don't know what was happening. I thought getting stuck on the Apple logo after when it restarted has something to do with the failures I've been reading about all over on Models (2015 and later) that are still supported by Apple. And then there's the nVIDIA issue, which I glossed over.

I've put two and two together, realized it's the dGPU after all. But here lies the tricky part: since it's still in the process of installing, when it starts up to my internal drive, it's because it ignores the EFI of the USB installer and goes directly to the EFI of the internal at some point. When I do an NVRAM reset, the USB EFI stops working somehow, and I had to do another round of Downloading Monterey, creating a USB installer, installing OCLP and started up from it via boot loader. I wised up and downloaded both 12.2.1 and 12.3, and save them into a backup drive, just in case I screwed things up again.

At the least two attempts for 12.2.1 and 12.3 respectively, in their respective volumes, in the Setup part of installation, I restarted via bootloader, loaded the EFI (now installed on the respective drive, but, loading it from the USB still works), and I immediately pressed shift as I click the setup stage of the drive. It took a few tries earlier on, but, it was relatively easy when it came to the second Volume for 12.3, because I already know what to look out for.

Now, given that I have OCLP on my internal drive, the EFI which is what causes the restart cycle to begin with, I didn't want to uninstall OCLP since the SSD benefits from the power management. It became a minor inconvenience at that point.
