Yep. Same error in terminal (I must add that every time I try to rebuild the cache, either via OCLP or in terminal, the dependency mentioned in the error message, changes. Weird).

Onyx hangs the system (latest version of onyx).

I am thinking of reverting to Monterey 12.4 using a full install.

Updated to 12.5b4 working fine, no problems here. MBP 11.1, OCLP 0.4.7.

I suspect that the beta releases are the real issue. Your idea of using a USB installer to install 12.4 should work.
It may help to use the latest OCLP 0.4.8 nightly (read the change log first) which is available at:
The OCLP developers do try to make OCLP compatible with the beta versions, but Apple does change things often.
My personal opinion is that it is better to wait for RC versions at least, and most likely the real 12.5 release will be the best. That is on Monterey, for Big Sur, the betas are very stable (b2 is available now at the Mr. Macintosh site.

My 2011 iMac with a Nvidia k4100 card updated to 12.5 beta3 and I am stuck in the boot loop. I tried your tip but it didn't work for me. Any suggestions, to get out of the boot loop?
In case anyone finds themselves in this boot loop after installing 12.5 beta 3 or 4, here is how I got my computer working again:
1. Use the OCLP patcher to create your flash drive (choose 12.4) on another computer.
2. Reboot while holding the Option key and choose your flash drive.
3. Click on Utilities and choose Disk Utility, click the "+" below Volume and add a new volume giving it a recognizable name.
4. Install Monterey to your new volume.
5. During the initial boot, choose migration services and select the hard drive that had the boot loop.
6. Select what you want restored and let it do its work.
7. After the migration process has finished, run the OCLP patcher.
8. Reboot
9. After everything checks out, you can delete the old volume.
10. Follow these forums closely before updating to a beta version.

Good luck!

Guys, quick question... Upgrading OTA my MBP 9,2 with OCLP 0.4.7 (as usual) to the latest (21G5056b) Monterey beta, goes flawlessly until applying post root patches, which fail with an "unable to build kernel cache"error:

I'm thinking about trying reinstalling with a full Monterey image... any other ideas?

Thanks!
Out of curiosity: SIP is disabled? (recovery mode; terminal "csrutil disable")

Well, csrutil was disabled, but I disabled it again, just for kicks, no dice.

Tried using a full installer, no dice either ("this disk cannot be downgraded")

In the end, what fixed the issue was the 1.71 GB OTA beta5. Downloaded, applied, and patched without a hitch.

Should have been something wrong with beta4.

Everything is OK with the world now :)

Thanks!

That still didn't work for me. I just did a SU, ran the post install patch using OCLP 0.4.5 only to result in the login loop issue. Running at late 2012 iMac 13,1.

First, while I can understand the relief at having a working system up and running again, it is certainly not the case that "Everything is definitely OK with the world now." This is not the right forum to even begin to list what is amiss with this world. Get back to me in 10,000 years or more.
I still think a new install of 12.4 after wiping the target SSD using Disk utility, and resetting the NVRAM, followed by a data migration or manual data install or addition, is still the safest way to proceed. Of course you will have to reinstall OCLP, and after a reboot, run the post install Root patch. Betas are not recommended for normal users, they are intended for developers, in order to get feedback to Apple. Apple's decision to release public beta versions is incomprehensible. Release candidate versions may be somewhat safer, but there is rarely any serious merit in installing a beta for a normal user, and as can be seen in this thread, there is a high risk of inducing downtime, stress and a variety of Sad Faces, :(:eek: etc.

I never had any issues with 12.5 beta 4 OCLP 0.48n.

I really shouldn’t answer this, but I’ll bite.

The “OK with the world” line was meant as poking fun at myself. Nothing more. Sorry if you somehow took it personal, which you really shouldn’t have, and that shows your age. I’ll raise your 10,000 years and talk back to me in 10,000 aeons. You are way out of your league here, kid.

I have been a sysadmin/developer/tinkerer for more than 40 years, which looks like a lot more time than you have been on this earth so, firstly, I can find my way around these things. Was asking just in case it had happened to some one else and, as an engineer, it makes no sense to reinvent the wheel.

Secondly, your advice, though sound, is not necessarily the best way to solve any problem. Again, years of experience. There are, at least, 8 different ways to tackle this problem, and wiping out is not even in that list.

Thirdly, I somehow agree with your public beta rant, but I advise you to not assume that because someone asks a question is a normal user. In my case, I use prerelease versions to learn. When you grow up you’ll find out that asking questions is a way to learn.

Chill out. As you said, there are a lot of other things going wrong with the world. Believe me, you have no idea.

I stand by my thanks to the other users. They, instead of trying to be pompous, tried to help.

Nice day to everyone. Keep safe.

I am on Catalina with Dosdude patches at an iMac 7.1, CPU Penryn T9300, 6 GB Ram and a ssd harddisk.
How can I upgrade to Monterey?

I tried the following:
I downloaded OCLP 0.47, installed it to /Applications/Utilities did run it and downloaded Monterey 12.4, did install this to an usb stick with 16 GB.
When I boot from this stick with "Options", shortly after selecting the stick I get a sign "circle with diagonal bar".

Make sure you are on the latest firmware (Silentknight)
Re-apply a properly set up OpenCore using OCLP to the EFI partition on the stick.
Make sure all installation restarts happen from this stick (at any restart during installation hold alt [option] key and select the stick. Then select the volume to start from within the OC boot picker)
After a successful installation re-apply OpenCore to your regular boot disk EFI partition by either re-running OCLP with same options as before and writing to boot disk instead of the stick or by copying files from your sticks EFI partition over to your boot disk EFI.

Just installed beta 5 on Mac mini 5,1 using oclp 0.48. System running very fast, safari is the fastest I've ever seen. Still struggling with graphics acceleration issues though with hd3000. Maps still doesn't work at all and Apple TV is very hit and miss, however was like this on 12.4 as well. Think I've resigned myself to the fact non metal will ever be able to work properly with stuff like apple TV!

Try installing the OCLP-patched installer to a different USB flash drive, maybe one that's a minimum of 32GB.

Also, you should be aware of some limitations for OCLP when used with your iMac7,1, as detailed at https://dortania.github.io/OpenCore-Legacy-Patcher/MODELS.html:

- Requires an SSE4.1 CPU Upgrade
- GPU Acceleration in Public Beta, see current issues (#108)
- Stock Bluetooth 2.0 card non-functional

Hey guys! Just finished updating my MBP 9,2 mid 2012 non-retina OTA to macOS Monterey 12.5 Beta using OCLP 0.2.5 without a hitch! All working perfect. Have a great one.
I'm curious why you used OCLP 0.2.5 instead of 0.4.7, which is the current release version.

Try installing the OCLP Patcher to a different USB flash drive, maybe one that's a minimum of 32GB.
He does not install the OCLP Patcher to the USB. He creates a Monterey installer using OCLP and this installer is more than happy with a 16 GB space. Why 32 GB for an installer with ~14 GB payload? I'd rather suspect the actual flash drive to be faulty, size has nothing to do here as long as it is big enough for the installer to fit.

He stated clearly he has a T9300, which is SSE4.1 capable. You'd know it if you read the actual link you provided.
The amount of RAM (or lack thereof) bothers me, although personally I quite comfortably run Monterey in a VM with 4 GB RAM, just for content caching purposes though so YMMV.

I'd say: redo all the steps using a different (not necessarily larger) flash drive and proceed only once you are able to select the installer volume from the OC bootpicker.

Think I'm going to roll back to big sur and try that instead of Montreal on 5,1. According to the known issues, HD3000 has been noted as issues with maps and other applications running. Older API on big sur which seems to okay nicer with HD3000.

Hey all, running Montery (open core .4.4) on MacBook Pro 10,1 (15" Retina Mid 2012).

I can't get my SD CARD reader working, does anyone know how to?

EDIT: FIXED with this KEXT File: https://github.com/dortania/OpenCore-Legacy-Patcher/issues/978

Just pop it into the Extensions folder and reboot. SD Card now detected when inserted!
I did a fresh install of Monterey 12.4 on my MBP 9.2 using OCLP 0.4.7. Just discovered my SD card reader doesn't work any more. Will the above work and can I confirm the path is System/Library/Extensions, as I when I tried to copy the Kext file over I get the No Entry icon.

Can someone who has updated their wifi card confirm that this card will be compatible with my CMP 3.1
The only thing I can confirm is that the Apple BCM94360CD card included with this product works in my MacPro3,1 with Monterey and OCLP. I cannot confirm that the adapter that goes with it works well for both wifi and bluetooth but it looks like it should. It's only suspicious that the 3,1 wasn't in the list as compatible.

Hello to all,

Attempted to Install Monterey 12.5 beta5 on 27” iMac 13,2 - late 2012, 1 TB fusion drive , 24 GB Ram,
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680MX 2 GB.

An OTA Update installed without any problems, as have betas 3 and 4 before, but just as the latter, it stalled in a loop at final Login Window.

I booted into Safe Mode to try and retrieve logs from the OCLP EFI partition, *by any means”, realizing, that under normal circumstances it is not possible to mount EFI partition in Safe Mode(?)

Just a side note: macOS install log is always(?) located on the target drive in /var/log/install.log per some reliable resources. I will try to install next 12.5 beta(6?), boot into safe mode, and see if logs are retrievable from location noted above, rather than EFI partition (assuming that OCLP keeps its own logs?) and compare data from both.

In case of iMac 13,2 , Apple seems to have “banned” certain Kepler Nvidia cards(?)

In contrast, installation of Monterey 12.5 beta5 on MacBook Pro 5,2 (2009) with Nvidia Ge Force 9600 GT 512 MB, went without a problem; machine is fully functional.

Hope this information may be of help.
