Tried to read the famous docs coming with the software to be found on the same Github page? How ?
Def weird. I normally have speakers plugged in, so I knew something was up. Try to install 0.5.1 and see if that fixes it. That's what worked for me 🤷♂️I just tried the audio jack on my MBP 8,1 on 0.5.2 with MacOS 12.6.1 (21G217) and it doesn't recognize the headphones or a microphone either.
Sorry to kick my question,I got a 3DConnexion cable mouse,
After a few minutes of use, when I hoover with the mouse over an element, like a button, icon ( dock) or menu(item) the icon/area more on the right side get visually hoovered, or get clicked when I press a button.
I have to go to the top left of my main screen going behind the Apple menu several times, moven back and forth, to get the click point right under the mouse point.
Any suggestions? Please help because during xcode development or drawing with Fusion360 or sketchup it works terrible.
Somehow I installed the ivy bridge sound driver on the old 0.3.3 patcher I had. Everything flies now with 4k etc after over a year with it being like a 2009 Mac mini !How ?
You may update to the 0.4.11 or later and revert/re-apply patches. Guess there might be some new developments. Read the change log of the more recent versions to keep track of it. And it is surely not a sound driver which gives you 4k video playbackI installed

I am running an iMac15,1 (late 2014) and with OCLP 0.5.1, I noticed that some of the SIP and SSV settings were disabled. That is probably necessary for Ventura but I had Monterey 12.6.1 installed. Downgrading to OCLP 0.4.11 and the SIP and SSV settings were enabled. Overall, I did not notice any major differences in performance, but the Brother Laser Printer, connected via Wi-Fi, was iffy at times, disconnecting randomly. The latest 12.6.2 Beta 2 20G312 (downloaded via MDS) fixed that, and I was able to reinstall the Brother software via the Printer pane in the System Preferences, which was not possible with Monterey 12.6.1 or the 12.6.1 B1 install. Before posting „new“ issues you might spend some of your lifetime and search here for known problems. We cannot collect and in a single post just because people in general do not read documentation, the first post of this thread or search for other useful posts here.I have just moved my MBP 2011 (8,1) from Catalina(Dosdude1) to Monterey 12.6.1 with OCLP 0.5.1. Everything went smooth, better than expected. Currently my Mac is running fine. Just minor points.
Thank you to all the developers! @khronokernel great work!
Minor points so far:
1)After Monterey installation I used Apple SW update to get Safari 16.1, upgrade was OK. In very few cases, Safari doesn’t load the webpage asking to reload (“an error has occurred repeatedly – reload page”), in this case you never get the page. With Firefox the same page is loaded properly.
2)Using MSFT Word, selecting a string or a text area, instead of getting it highlighted to be edited, it is covered by a grey opaque rectangle; you cannot see the text anymore, but it is properly copied. In Apple Preview same function works as expected.
Dear Ausdauersportler, I was misunderstood! I am very happy about OCLP 0.5.1! reading the forum during the last 4 months I was well aware of the problems related to non Metal GPU and I was really "worried" about such upgrade. At the end, reading the last releases highlights, I decided to give a try. And, as I have written, my MBP is running better than expected. It has a reasonable speed and the MINOR POINTs are really minor ... I am not asking to fix them ... I just encouraging to give a try to OCLP even for non Metal GPU, I just want to testify that such issues are not relevant for my usage. Developers (and people supporting us in this forum!) made a great piece of work, and the results is much much better than expected even for non metal machines. Before posting „new“ issues you might spend some of your lifetime and search here for known problems. Just an idea…after a complete year of Monterey support though OCLP. BTW: You will never get your non metal GPU patched away and much more issues exist. From time to time Apple generates a new one and sometimes they fix one, but never on non metal hardware. This journey is over.

Unfortunately enough, the known solution you referred to (using Office version 16.49) for MBP 2011 has limitations. You did not get my main point:
1. both issues are long known
2. the word issue has a solution, which could be found by searching
I would appreciate if you just search … you cannot imagine what treasure of knowledge is sometimes just hidden behind a quick search and following a simple link, instead of repeating things the public already knows.

I ran into the same "issue" recently when I couldn't use my 'metal' equipped iMac and had to try to edit a Word file on my old MBP 8,2 running Monterey and OCLP. A search quickly revealed the Office version 16.49 available on the MS web page as the "solution". However, the file concerned was created on a newer version of Office (probably a Windows version, with the file having a "docx" extension). It is regrettable, but that older version will not open newer Office Word files, so its use is extremely limited. I didn't even try Excel or the other apps, so I can't comment on that, but Word from the Office version 16.49 was useless for me, as 98% of the files I work with are file created on newer Office versions.

It seems to be a long lasting marketing strategy to force users into using latest M$ software products and breaking compatibility to older M$ versions by "accident".Have you tried editing the docx file using LibreOffice for macOS?

I tried with "Pages", it seems working well. Simpler editor are fine (i.e. Textedit). There is also another issue related to use back level MSFT ... I feel more secure working with High Sierra MacOS than with a one year back level MSFT softwareIt seems to be a long lasting marketing strategy to force users into using latest M$ software products and breaking compatibility to older M$ versions by "accident".
P.S.:
Never needed those crappy tools, if you want to write reports and books use TeX, otherwise use Twitter, as long as it will exist
P.P.S.:
If an active user here wants to maintain a software compatibility list starting with Apple apps (needing mostly metal) and other third party apps I would really appreciate it. Just add another spoiler to the first post named "Application Support" and create either a table or a long list. One can start with a single entry...no need to do the complete work.
Strange. Until some months ago I used 16.49 on my 8,1 and different current versions on newer Mac without running into problems when opening the documents on the 8,1. A quick web search doesn't lead me to any information about MS having changed the docx-format. Can anyone confirm this?Unfortunately enough, the known solution you referred to (using Office version 16.49) for MBP 2011 has limitations.

No, I did not try to edit that file using any other software. The circumstances were a little unusual (in the hospital with limited Wi-Fi and no access to any backup or OS versions, except Office 16.49 and the current version at the date in question). I can definitely confirm that 16.49 would not open the target DOC file, a medical report created on a Windows 10 machine. I used the current version and struggled with the blocked out selection for copy and paste operations. At that time I did not have access to any other files or the energy to test it further. So, it may have been a one-time incident, I really have no idea. For those here who do not have to use MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint, in order to stay compatible with the industry standards, especially Microsoft Office, you are lucky indeed. I have briefly tested LibreOffice and other similar suites, but the learning curve was simply too high for me. Personal choice, you are welcome to a different opinion.Have you tried editing the docx file using LibreOffice for macOS?

Sorry, I meant a USB wifi dongle, not BT which works ootb.Hello folks,
a question: What is the status of the Macmini3,1 on Monterey? It works but without BT, is this correct? If so, can you recommend me a USB BT dongle?
Are there any other limitations?
Well, if you must use MS apps... The college I work for makes more than 200 different apps available for MS Windows users ONLY through their cloud environment. Every time I need to use one of these apps, I run a Windows 10 VM in Parallels. No, I did not try to edit that file using any other software. I would think about: Installing via OCLP from scratch (means formatting the disk) and transferring the user data via icloud. (Of course a copy of the user data on a timemachine AND on a spare harddisk might be useful in case something goes wrong.)Did you use Apple migration assistant ?
Or how did you moved your user folder, and keep in tact ?
I am still strungling to find a way, to move over a dosdude1 mojave patched install to OCLP Monterey, with a user folder almost 1TB big.
I am not waitning rebuilding the entire user profile again, manually..
thanks I do have multiple copies of time machine, and disk image's created with CCC and superduper.I would think about: Installing via OCLP from scratch (means formatting the disk) and transferring the user data via icloud. Sorry for pushing this up again, but I was unable to find an adequate solution yet. Apart from 10GBEthernet, my imac mid 2011 runs perfectly with oclp 0.5.0 and Monterey 12.6Not sure if this is the right place, but as my issue started with upgrading to monterey...
I have an imac mid 2011 with a WX7100 MXM card running Monterey 12.3 and OCLP/OC0.8.1.
Before I was using a Sonnet Solo10G PCIe Card flawlessly in a TB1 enclosure (Atto Thunderlink).
After upgrading to Monterey, the card is no longer recognized as an ethernet card upon start and after poering off and on again either it is detected but does not receive an IP or the system freezes.
Neither manual Aquantia patches nor the new OC Kernel Quirk changes something.
IORegistryExplorer does not list AppleVTD. As I don't have a hackintosh, I cant't activate VT-d in Bios either...
Ideas anyone?
Is it due to Thunderbolt? Internal Aquantia cards seem to work in MP with OC?
Best regards,
r.
EDIT: Upgrade to OCLP 0.4.5 and Monterey 12.4 went flawlessly, but Aquantia ethernet still "broken"...
