Is there any comment of dosdude that he is still working on a patcher ?
I just found one in this thread on June 8: "For anybody wondering: At this time, I am planning on creating a brand new patcher for Monterey."
I prefer the patches of dodsude and I skipped BigSur for that.
I hope we can expect some patcher soon.

Yes, Catalina works very nice with dosdude patcher, but OC runs better. Updates are native, problematic with patches. Big Sur and Monterey runs with OC in my Mac Pro 5,1. Can´t be happier.

You did yourself a disfavour by waiting, and missing out on what others have achieved, both for BigSur and Monterey. No-one can take away from what @dosdude1 did for Mojave and Catalina, but no-one is indispensable either. Had you given a chance to the efforts that many put into making BigSur work on unsupported Macs, you would not be longing for what may, or may not come from @dosdude1. Even now that I have given away my mid-2012 MBP, I am (still) in awe of the ingenuity of folks on the Unsupported Mac threads. @dosdude1 was/is good; but so are the guys behind OCLP, Patched Sur, etc. Here's to all of the unsung heroes.?

I got the 9,2 over here running Monterey Beta. The only thing necessary is to enable bluetooth by running sudo kill -9 $(pgrep bluetoothd) in Terminal once the update is done. I did not need to upgrade hardware whatsoever. BigSur wasn't a problem either, I did use Barry k's patcher.

That is interesting and very positive as I have read that the Wi-Fi card in the MBP 9.2 isn't compatible with Big Sur and that a USB adapter should be used, do you know what Wi-Fi card you have? Mine is the Broadcom BCM43xx

Also, I don't know if it makes a difference, but my MBP 9.2 is the 13" version.

If I don't need to worry about either the WI-FI Card or the Bluetooth Module, it would be a great start, and I can start with Big Sur and make the jump to Monterey after.

So you have a Mac Pro 3,1 also and didn't try to patch this one ?
I do have a Mac Pro 3,1 and it seems not to be that easy for that one ...

For what I understood it took almost a year for the patch for Big Sur to work properly.
I didn´t find any manual or video showing an easy way to apply OCLP e.g.
Or did î just missed it ?
And in addition it was just a question ...

Is there any trick to getting an RX580 working in a MacPro 3,1 with OCLP 0.22 that is currently running fine with a GTX680 flashed with Mac efi rom? When I swap-in the RX580, the verbose boot shows a kernel panic and the MP3,1 enters a boot loop. The same thing happens when I try to make a new OCLP install from a 0.24 OCLP USB installer. There are reports of success with the RX580 (Sapphire Nitro+ 8 GB) so it must be doable somehow.

I think you should try to set up the "latebloom kext" in OCLP in order to minimize race condition during the booting process. Use OCLP in TUI version:

1.- Access menu nr 5.
2.- Then in menu nr 13: try this values: Delay 200, Range 20, Debug 1.
3.- Build OPenCore (menu 1)
4.- Reinstall it to USB/internal drive (menu2)

Check this thread ( by @Syncretic ):

Check #2 for other configuration of values according to your computer.

Latebloom is included in OCLP from version 0.2.4

I hope it could be useful for you!

EDITED: You could also try to switch to the second BIOS in your GPU:
The BIOS switch (it is very tiny) stock position is usually located towards the GPU Power Connector. The stock BIOS is supposed to have the best timings for Gaming, while the secondary BIOS has alternative timings.

Is your OCLP setup injecting MouSSE? If not, the symptoms you describe are consistent with the SSE4.2 issues that affect recent MacOS versions on MP3,1. I had heard that Big Sur and Monterey no longer required MouSSE, but I haven't gone past Catalina on my MP3,1 so I can't be certain.

If your kernel panic shows "type 6=invalid opcode", it's most likely the SSE4.2 issue, and MouSSE is worth a try. If the panic shows "type 14=page fault" or some other value, it's most likely not the SSE4.2 issue, and MouSSE won't really help you.

If you do end up trying MouSSE, please use the version attached to this link - that's the one that works with Monterey. (I haven't had time to update the first post on the MouSSE thread.)

Good luck!

Thanks Enricote—about to try with different Bios and latebloom; will post the results

Thanks for your advice Enricote and Syncretic. It worked (with no need to install MouSSE).
I am glad your MacPro works now.

I see your signature says now RX 580 non gaming BIOS.
Actually my Rx 580 works with both BIOS. My GPU is original never flashed. Second hands GPU are frequently flashed with modified Bios. I don't know if that is your case.

I think your main gratitude (and mine) must be to @Syncretic. Latebloom kext (Still a experimental workaround) is being a great step forward helping to maintain our cMacPro alive after more than 12 years…

Didn´t know that Syncretic was the one that developed Latebloom. Since I installed it in my Mac Pro 4,1->5,1 , Big Sur 11.5.2 runs like charm. 1 bad boot in 10, more o less. So, @Syncretic , thanks a lot. Amazing work.

There was a program written called patched Sur which was very easy to install and you had Big Sur micropatcher Automator which was also very easy to use and You had open core. Also if you look on page 36 of this tread you will see that dos dude 1 just released with other amazing and talented people a new patcher with a GUI for os Monterey.

Hello everyone, we're proud to release OpenCore Legacy Patcher v0.2.3!

Some of the more note worth changes from this release:

- Add NightShift support in Monterey for unsupported Macs
- Fix Intel HD4000 DRM support in Monterey (thanks EduCovas!)
- Allow TeraScale 2 acceleration on all models

And many more changes under the hood!

Additionally after much anticipation, we're pleased to also announce our new GUI for OpenCore Legacy Patcher! With the great aid of dosdude1, we not have a full Objective-C front end to make the process a bit easier.
View attachment 1804928
  • Currently the GUI is missing some more developer-centric features such as custom SMBIOS overriding, however the front end will continue to develop in the coming releases

Final note for this release, our provided binaries will be a bit different. Now we'll have the following:
  • OpenCore-Patcher-TUI
    • This is the familiar Text-based interface users are familiar with
  • OpenCore-Patcher-GUI
    • This is the new Graphical-based interface added with v0.2.3
  • OCLP-CLI
    • Backend used for the GUI, only applicable to developers. End users can ignore
Here is a new patcher for os Monterey for everyone who did not see it.

Please note that I did not make this patcher I am just reposting this so everyone knows that a new amazing patcher has been made. ?
