Reset NVRAM and PRAM. Sometimes the same appears in my MAc Pro 5,1, and after resetting it comes back.
Thank you, I tried that and now the mac tries to boot then keeps re-starting in a loop lol
I know i can just install Beta6 right over it but its a pain..
UPDATE: It decided to start now.
Still no WIFI

Does anyone here know if the OCLP v0.2.5 Nightly Build REALLY works on a 5,1 2012 cMP with ORIGINAL wifi card in it?
The patch seems to do something but no wifi...
Thanks

First of all, I'd take this opportunity to sincerely thank all the OCLP developers for their excellent work of supporting the old Macs so that a lot of people will continue enjoy their perfectly working hardware, and not being ended up in landfill.
Just updated to the latest OCLP v0.2.5 Nightly release for my late-2009 21.5" iMac C2D Nvidia 9400 running Monterey B6. The Bluetooth works perfectly now. But the WiFi is still not working even though the release note states the Atheros legacy wifi is supported now. The system recognises the wifi device now but can't find any SSID.
P.S. The default Photos app always crashes and not sure if it's expected. The default Apple Maps won't display any map now.
Other than that, the system seems working well.
Photos also crashing here on an MBP5,2 (Nvidia 9600 or 9400) with any 12.0 beta (now on b6).
Independent of installation method (OCLP or BaseSystemfix).
It always dies with an illegal instruction in com.apple.photos.metalrenderer-compile, when trying to select a different album.
Crashlog of Photos and output when starting it via Terminal are attached.

What does the crashlog indicate in your case?

(Maps I don't use)

The attached crash report is from a mid-2011 27" iMac with the stock HD6970 graphics card, also running Monterey 12.0B6 with the latest OCLP_v025n.
Don't really understand the report because it's too much info ?
Note: It seems the uploaded txt file is not displayed. not sure the reason?

All patchers only bring back OpenGL functionality while it is impossible to write a metal library for these old cards. Apps based on this metal API will either show glitches, missing functionality or just crash and there is nothing, really nothing we can do about this. Home, Maps, Photos are Apple apps known to get more and more metal based functionality.

If you cannot change the GPU with a more recent metal capable model (iMacs and MacPro) the great update my old Mac story may end here sooner or later.

Same applies to WiFi/BT and other hardware. While a patcher may bring back basic functionality you will never get the latest and greatest like AirDrop, HandOff, Continuity, SideCar, Universal Control because these features depend on the existence of some real hardware which cannot be just patched magically into your old system.

Your iMac12,2 in particular can be upgraded with a metal GPU and a BCM94360CD WiFi/BT combo card and will become completely compatible with Big Sur, Monterey and most likely with all/most current apps.

I appreciate Ausdauersportler and the recommendation to check out the info quoted below to get Monterrey working on both of my iMacs 15,1 ... an "endurance athlete" who I upset apparently because I am a physician not able to devote much time to patching/hacking but I do appreciate those who do develop patches...

"If you really tried to scan the whole document you could not have missed this entire section. Even searching for iMac15,1 within the online docs would have given you two hits."

ahoy! The current OCLP_025N brings Monterey connectivity equal to Big Sur. CPs now function and trackpads are now trackpads and not mice. Beta 6 can now be a daily driver on unsupported Macs.?✅;)?

OCLP v0.2.5 Nightly Build.
I get this after patching WIFI:
Any chance of getting the original wifi card working on my cMP 2012 5,1 in Monterey Beta6?

That's unfortunate, did you rebuild and install a new OC Build? The kext were updated to work with Monterey's new root patches. You can verify you have the new kexts by running this:

Code:
kextstat | grep "IO80211ElCap\|corecaptureElCap"

If these return nothing, make sure to update OpenCore as well from OCLP

Wow! I wasn't expecting there to be a workable solution for 2011 iMacs with stock hardware this soon. I may need to upgrade to Monterey and give it a try later this year. Well done.

After getting the wifi working, I started using safari and noticed it froze after a few minutes of inactivity, or woke up from sleep. I had to restart the iMac (late-2009) to get safari going again.
And the default Photos app still crashes every time I try to launch it.
Same here with Safari (and Photos as said earlier) here on MBP5,2, 12.0b6, installed with BaseSystemfix by jackluke.

The latest Firefox is for me a good replacement for Safari; writing from Firefox 92.0 in b6. Still looking what I can do about Photos. Because otherwise, 12.0b6 behaves very well, and it would be good to benefit further from the most recent development.

It is as Ausdauersportler said in #1457 - applications get more and more "metallic". Apple's own apps are likely to be ahead of others in this respect. For good performance, standardization, maintenance reasons I imagine. Some others, like for instance Affinity Photo, (still) explicitely offer to choose between OpenGL and Metal in their settings. But with time...

Good that your machine can be upgraded to Metal hardware.

I installed on MBA 2013 4GB and all is functional also GPU acceleration
I've installed OpenCore Legacy and I'm on Big Sur 11.6 right now. Will I be able to directly update to Monterey from System Settings or do I need to install it only via USB, formatting my drive? Thanks!

Update should work as long as you have subscribed to the Beta program or wait until November.
Had some Big Sur installations already updated this way.

This year I'm actually waiting for the public final release to hit the Store and update that way :)
I did the upgrade via System Settings. Make sure you have a backup just in case something goes wrong
Nice! Good to know and yes I'll do a backup for sure. Thank you. BTW there's no way to just make an update to the OS if you start Monterey from a USB? I mean, that procedure will always overwrite the actual OS (in this case Big Sur), if I'm not partitioning my drive and install Monterey on another partition/container? Sorry for this question, I simply don't remember it o_O
