No. Since firmware updating runs only after direct boot into last supported OS, bypassing OCLP EFI, so they don't interfere.
But you'll need a partition or a volume with Big Sur installed. Once you update Big Sur (directly after resetting PRAM/NVRAM), the firmware updated is being installed.

I also have an iMac 2011 21" with the K110M card running Ventura. Even though the integrated speakers are not presently working, the headphone jack is still functional using .52. Plugging in headphones or external speakers seem fine if/until this can be addressed.

Finally made the transition to Ventura, on my main MBP11,3 (leaving the MBP11,1, used by a non-power user, on Monterey: which, besides being better supported, is also more secure, as it doesn’t require root patches on that machine, and thus SIP and SSV can be fully enabled): sofar, (almost) everything seems to work really well! 
Let’s hope that Ventura OCLP support will evolve over time (perhaps even reaching the current Monterey levels, or almost)…

Yes, that’s the way to go: install a basic macOS Big Sur 11.7.1+ natively on an external disk (or internal partition or volume), and then keep it updated; every time the OS update includes a firmware update, it will be applied to the Mac: the current firmware version for the MBP11,3 is 474.0.0.0.0; and more info here, for example:

Just finished updating my late 2015 iMac (with fusion drive) to Ventura and so far it's running smoothly.
Just two quick questions:
When wanting to install Opencore to the internal drive, it's giving me two choices since it's a fusion drive. Should I put it on the SSD or HDD portion of the Fusion drive?
When running SilentKnight says the firmware is old, should I bother trying to update it using a bootable drive of Monterey or don't bother?

I have the same issue with firmware being out of date. However, given that I'm running 13.0.1 with no problems, I've decided to leave it as is.

hi, ATTENTION if you have an iMac 2011 21.5" with Ventura installed and probably some other model not yet fully supported, with OCLP 0.53 of December 10th you NO longer have headphone output and microphone input and built-in microphone (the December 4th version is OK)
I have an iMac 17,1 running 12.6.1 - which is now the last supported version. I have been reading up on OCLP and trying to figure out where to start. I would prefer not to lose my data, so can I use OCLP to re-install 12.6.1 on top of my existing 12.6.1 and then OTA to 13 or should I use OCLP to install 13 on top of 12.6.1?

I've been using OCLP since I upgraded from Catalina -> Big Sur, and I've never done a clean install, only upgrades. All has been fine so far, and I'm on 13.0.1. If I were you, I would upgrade directly from 12.6.1. to Ventura.

I used it. Should be required viewing with OCLP. Makes OCLP easier to understand.
Nop. It´s a modern wifi/bluetooth module. Wifi works so great. I think it´s because it takes the power from the old legacy bluetooth port. Will try with an external cable later.You mean everything works except the legacy wifi and bluetooth? hehe
