Updated to 13.1 and got the prompt to redo root patch. Seems ok.

Think safe enough to proceed since there are issues in 13.0.1 that I was hoping to get fixed.

Yes we can! :D
I can confirm this too--I just updated my Macbook Pro 15 Inch Mid 2014 (11,3) from macOS 13.0.1 (installed previously with OCLP 0.5.2) to macOS 13.1, using Software Update.

First, to speed up the process, I used OCLP 0.5.2 to revert the OCLP root patches so Software Update would download just the delta updater (about 1.8GB?) instead of the full 13.1 installer (a little over 12GB), then I rebooted to flush the patches out of RAM, then I opened Software Update and had it download and install the delta updater. After the usual number of restarts, the installation was finished, and when the desktop reappeared, OCLP displayed an alert reminding me that its patches needed to be reinstalled, so I let it. A couple alerts appeared during the patch reinstallation telling me that an application (apparently OCLP) wanted to modify two system-level apps, but that I had to open Privacy & Security preferences and approve these modifications, but when I opened Privacy & Security, no specific option to approve modifications to these two particular apps appeared, though under "Full Disk Access", OCLP was listed and showed its on/off slider was off, so I slid its slider to "on". But this didn't appear to be necessary, since when OCLP was finished reinstalling its patches, it displayed a message saying that if you get messages during this process telling you to approve modifications to apps, you can ignore them. Then I rebooted the Macbook and everything worked properly.

Is this the "official" way to enforce downloading on the delta updates. Is this working for all machines or are there restrictions?

1. As far as I know, single "official" way is installing update from USB stick with OCLP and proper OS version on it. Any OTA update you make is made at your own risk.
2. I guess everyone can speak for his specific Mac only. Mine is OK for that. And I don't remember cases in this thread when OTA itself (and not patching/unpatching!) caused any problems.
3. My personal opinion is that such manipulation for delta update does make any sense only if unpatch/reboot/download/install seems simpler and/or faster to you than dealing with a full 12 Gb OS.

OTA updates for minor versions (13.0.1 to 13.1) should be fine (12GB download)! Removing the root patches to use Delta is not recommended and may not work for everybody (@Ausdauersportler).

I have used both on my MPB11,2 and never had an issue.

Hi all

Successfully upgraded cMP4,1-5,1 from Ventura 13.0 to 13.1
For this, I replaced my RX 580 GPU (which I usually work with) with my old R9 280X
After Root Patching with OCLP 0.5.2 I did several hours of testing, 13.1 seems to be as smooth, responsive and fast to boot as BigSur 11.7.2
LAN and WIFI work, as expected, only Bluetooth does not work, my BCM94360CD card does not seem to be recognized

Once again, a big thank you to all the developers who made this possible, because like many of us, I thought Monterey would be the end of the road for my cMP4,1-5,1

Just wondering how your WIFI is working? I have the same machine.
Cheers

Hello to all,

I have an Apple developer account, hence I was able to install Venture 13.2 beta 1 and command line tools for Xcode 14.2, both via OTA method.

No Issues noted during installation, and all functions were available once system was patched with
OCLP 0.5.3n (December 3rd release).

I just wish to clarify the post-install instructions on opencore's website before I update to 13.1, in case my wifi stops working. (I'm on a late 2015 5k iMac)

When they say to download the closest kernel debut kit to the OS that was installed, do they mean the original OS I had prior to installing Ventura or they mean the latest version of Ventura I'm installing?

My eternal gratitude to the devs!!! The installation experience was not smooth, but I managed to install Ventura on a macbook air 5.2 (mid 2012)!

View attachment 2123371

The process:

I downloaded the OCLP v0.5.2.
I chose to download the macOS from the OCPL menu (Create macOS Installer -> Download macOS Installer -> macOS 13.0.1 (22A400) - 12.2GB). After the download finished I got the error : "No Installers found in Application folder". I am not confident with macOS disk internals, so I did not manage to find where the downloaded file went, to see what is wrong...

So I manually downloaded the macOS from this link (mrmacintosh.com/macos-ventura-13-full-installer-database-download-directly-from-apple). When the download finished, I moved the ventura installation app file from "InstallAssistant.pkg" into Application folder.

I erased the usb flash drive with disk utility, using format APFS and Scheme GUID partition map. Then I tried to flash the ventura installer into the usb flash drive using OCLP. After about 5 minutes I got the error "The bless of the installer disk failed.". So after a bit of googling I decided to flash the usb via terminal.

The flashing via terminal was successful and I used the OCPL's top menu option "Install OpenCore to disk". I chose the destination to be the efi of the usd flash drive but I got permission error 1. I googled a bit and I found how to give permission to OCPL to access drives (apple icon menu -> System settings -> Privacy and Setting (iirmc)). After giving permission the installation to efi was successful.

I booted from usb, deleted the sdd with the old ventura OS and I made a clean ventura install. At some point I got the error : "an error occurred preparing the software update". Clueless I chose to select a start disk, there was none to select. I rebooted and I found a white page showing the charging icon (no os found I guess...).

I started again the clean install (deleting again the ssd) and eventually I got the same error. I rebooted but while pressing the option button, I chose again the usb efi to boot. I had lost any hope but eventually after many automatic reboots the new Ventura showed up!!!

Soon I realised that I cannot boot without the usb stick. So I downloaded the OCPL again (clean install I had to) and I used the "Install OpenCore to disk" choosing ssd efi this time. It asked for reboot, I did it, then I removed the usb drive and I reboot again to confirm... and yes it booted without usb. I open OCPL again I check the post install root and I saw I had to apply a patch. I did it and rebooted. Now everything seems to working great!

Thanks again!!!!
I have same Mac(MacBookAir 13-inch mid 2012), and I am stuck facing the same problem.
So "An error occurred preparing the software update".
How did you solve that problem?

My environments are below.
OCLP 0.5.2
Try to install Ventura 13.1(22C65) by clean install to internal ssd(128GB)

As I wrote, this is what I did : "I rebooted but while pressing the option button, I chose again the usb efi to boot. I had lost any hope but eventually after many automatic reboots the new Ventura showed up!!!"

I remember that after seeing that error, I only rebooted once while pressing the option button. The rest of reboots was automatically.

Just note that I installed macOS 13.0.1 with OCLP v0.5.2, not sure if that matters though...

Same here: rMBP 10,2 presented two errors (and caused a minor heart attack). I hadn't seen your post, but did the same thing (obviously the only possible way): just rebooted and saw, that the installation process continued. MBP 9,1 got stuck only once. Both machines finished without further problems. Everything works well - no, better than before!

Hello,

On my test iMac 27" mid 2011 with :
- Graphic card WX4130 (Dell)
- WIFI and BT: BCM 94360CD

Installation Ventura is OK
(with last boot in safe mode ;)) , WIFI/BT OK, metal OK. The only thing I noticed , a external display (iiYama ProLite) doesn't working on Thunderbolt port (I try the two ports) .

I upgrade from Ventura 13.0.1 to 13.1 with OCLP 0.5.2 and the external display now work :)👍

Made the transition last night on my 15" MacBook Pro (mid-2015) from 12.6.2 to 13.1 using OCLP 0.5.2.

Does anyone know how to stop the OS from verifying every non-App Store downloaded app every time I open them? It's a pain to have to verify apps like Chrome, Firefox, Discord, and others every time I want to launch them.

EDIT: Looks like I figured it out by typing "sudo spctl --master-disable" into Terminal, going back into System Preferences to allow Anywhere, and then having to uninstall / reinstall all the affected apps.

Is there any guide how to update from 13.0.1 to 13.1 with OCLP 0.5.2? I am afraid to update via automatic updates in system preferences; maybe it will break my installation...

You can do it OTA (via System Preferences) or create a USB stick with the full installer. Just go ahead - but have your backup up to date!
