Hello, in the

Add support for non-Metal Graphics Cards in macOS Ventura

section on the OCPL 6.1 website, it mentions that it only supports Tesla Nvidia cards through 8000-200 series, does that mean that only the 300 series like the GeForce 320M in the 2010 models or the GT 330M is not supported?

Thank you

Hi
Can someone explain me in simpler words?
I read but understood only marginally but never fully:

“For users with 2008 to 2013 Mac Pros (MacPro3,1-6,1) and 2009 to 2011 iMacs (iMac9,1-12,2), keep in mind macOS Ventura now requires AVX2.0 support in the CPU for native graphics acceleration. Thus while your GPU may be natively supported, you cannot run Ventura officially with these GPUs.”

I have iMac 21” 2011 i5 2.7 ghz and NVIDIA QUADRO K1000M 2gb GPU; I have updated to ventura (now 13.2) for some time now and basically the system is quite good except in some situations with more than a few applications open where I notice some slowdowns than before with Monterey and native AMD GPU which weren't so evident

Do these slowdowns or other related situations have to do with the AVX2.0 issue?
Thanks

The 320M works fine here with Ventura on my MacBook Pro 13".

Can confirm graphics acceleration on MacBook late 2009 and Mac mini late 2010 but no Bluetooth or WiFi functionality detected in profiler but not able to connect AFTER THE POST INSTALL patches are applied able to connect prior to patches applied post install - open core 0.6.1

After install completed on both systems after wiping and doing clean install WiFi does not show up in the menu bar but when you go into settings is detected and able to connect but as soon as post install root patching is done and kernel cache rebuilds and restarts WiFi disabled completely….brand new made use(done 3 times on two different flash drives) and clean installs only no upgrades. Also same for Ethernet on both and Bluetooth….

Update: Friends 2009 13 inch MacBook Pro….same thing

same problm with 0.6.0 and ventura 13.2 hardware accelaration not working with new update.
Exact same issue on my late 2014 iMac 15,1 with OCLP 0.6.0 installing Ventura 13.2.
Tried twice, took hours, now back up and running 13.1 with OCLP 0.5.3.
Will wait for someone reporting success with a future OCLP version.
Anyone tried the 0.6.1 on n iMac 2014 or 2015?

Just a quick note in case anyone else here has the same issue, as it took me hours to figure this out. If you are installing on older macs, basically 2012 or before, depending on the model, you need to plug in your keyboard and mouse through a USB 2.0 hub, or you'll get a weird screen that tells you to turn on your magic mouse and keyboard when trying to boot using the installer. See https://github.com/dortania/OpenCore-Legacy-Patcher/issues/1021

I can confirm that with 0.6.1 hardware acceleration issue for 2015 machines is now working...

Clean or conventional installation of macOS 13.2 with OCLP 0.6.1 via USB3 card reader on a native USB 2 port or a card reader in my display (actually a USB 3 hub ...) doesn't work here. With about remaining 12 minutes of the installation procedure this error suddenly appears:

inst_err.jpeg

An offered restart always brings me back to this point.

Can this be fixed or circumvented?

Thanks in advance for useful hints! :)

If you restart and go to Mac OS installer from efi boot it will finish successfully but you will not have WiFi. I had the same above issue happen and no WiFi on either Mac same with a friends Mac…

Thanks for your reply. As I said, a restart (including the selection of the macOS installer) brings me back to this point (from 29 minutes remaining down to 12 minutes). Again and again.

Got my Mac mini 7,1 upgraded to 13.2 (from 13.1) last night, and found out my dual SATA hard disk USB adapter no longe mounts - it still shows the device but detected no drives.

Move this to USB hub or direct Mac mini USB port bears the same result. However it is completely working on a MacBookPro 16,1 with Ventura 13.2, and another i9 Macintosh with Ventura 13.0.1

Any idea I can try out to diagnose?

Which OS did you originally come from? Before Ventura?

Thanks Digitalcan! Based on that post, I tried 0.6.1 and it worked. First time, after several bad installs with 13.1 Beta 2 and 13.2 RC, followed by 2 times today with OCLP 0.6.0. Whew, Enough install procedures to last months!
Thanks again.

I tried to update from 13.1 twice, using 0.6.0. See my post above, success with OCLP 0.6.1 updating from Monterey 12.6.3 on an internal SSD (128GB split from a Fusion drive with a 1TB HDD. The Monterey install is effortless, as the late 2014 iMac 15,1 model doesn't require patching, just have to install OCLP first. Actually it is quite usable and stable on this hardware, but after using Ventura, I found it easier to use and judging only by feeling (no benchmarks referenced) it seems just as snappy as Monterey even though there a ton of files patched!
The devs doing the OCLP are doing very well indeed to get these discontinued Macs working!:)😍😃

Oh, without a doubt! Sadly my iMac (though the same as yours) isn't so willing. With that DEC500 "can't run diagnostics" error as soon as I select the EFI boot. Yosemite issue, maybe. Or something else? I have no idea. I would love to get it solved!

I use this as my main computer now…might I ask, you updated OTA from settings, rebooted then reinstalled root patches only when prompted and that was it? No creation of a usb boot?

I’ve done this numerous times in my 2009 MBP and since it’s a back up computer I don’t care if it’s down a few days. However if my 2015 goes down then I have to hear it from my wife…lol.

I have the following issue:

System: iMac 15,1 2014 27 inch Retina model
Current OS: Yosemite 10.10
Target OS: anything between Monterey 12.0.1 and Ventura 13.2 (for Airplay Receiver)
OpenCore Legacy Patcher version: 0.6.0

Problem: whenever I load the EFI partition via the boot menu (before I can even start the installation or do anything) I get the message Unable to run diagnostics. DEC500
OCLP 3.1 is the latest version that does not have this problem and boots up the installation just fine. Only then the installation crashes at around "11 minutes remaining" in the first installation step. Update: fine for Monterey, Ventura installation immediately gives a big stop sign on OCLP 3.1, tried it just now!
I'm trying to create a bootable mac OS USB because I cannot and want not upgrade this iMac itself but I would like to use it as an extra screen for my new MacBook Pro via Airplay. I am also avoiding any alternative (and very expensive) options for doing that. This iMac could be used more often. It still sits on my desktop anyway.
Does anybody know a solution, please? Maybe a setting in OCLP? The latest version explicitly mentions it's compatible with 15,1 iMacs but I cannot get it to work. Thanks in advance!
Do you have Carbon Copy Cloner? You can use that to make a backup of your Yosemite disk, but after you make a new task, click once on the "Volumes" to the right of the "Task" above the task itself, and drag the Yosemite disk name with "disk name - Data" to the source Icon. Then let CCC make the copy to your external disk.
Next, you will have to clear the pram (r+p+Option+ Command keys down at boot and hold until you hear the Bong twice. Of course you have to do that with a wired keyboard.
Then run OCLP and install the OCLP to the target disk's EFI partition (Use the Developer Settings menu in the OCLP app and reset the 5 sec wait setting to 10 seconds).
Copy the Apple install app to the target disk/Application folder.
Reboot and use the OCLP boot picker to select the recently installed EFI disk - then click on the Apple install app on the target disk.
Did you get that far? No DEC500 error, I would think that zapping the pram would get rid of that. Not sure about that.

Thank you for your extensive respons! Sadly, I don't have CCC. Would I really need it? Or do you think resetting the PRAM is most important here and might even do the trick on its own?

Just an idea:

In terminal type

sudo launchctl stop com.apple.bluetoothd; sudo launchctl start com.apple.bluetoothd

I remember back in BigSurBeta/dosdude patcher there was a similar issue with Bluetooth which has been solved using a terminal command. Not certain the command above is the actual one that was being used though. Pretty sure you can find it in that forum.

This is what I've used since that time if I want to stop & restart Bluetooth:

sudo kill -9 $(pgrep bluetoothd)

No problems updating to Ventura 13.2 and Monterey 12.6.3 OTA (as usually, with full update for the root-patched MBP11,3 and delta update for the non-root-patched MBP11,1) and re-patching the MBP11,3 with 0.6.1; a minor inconvenience is that on Monterey you have to untick some Ventura-specific entries: but this of course isn’t a so urgent priority to fix, given the much more important things that still remain to be done. Strangely, putting the MBP11,3 to sleep by closing the lid still doesn’t work (while, IIRC, it worked some OCLP iterations ago)…
