do you think that I should restart all over again or it's good enough that my installation is completed? Because I don't think it will solves my "new" issues once in the OS. I'm talking in a "hard drive" perspective, do you think it may cause issues if I'm not restarting the installation like you mentioned or having successfully installed it by forcing the third option is good enough?
If you are saying it is working for you know then I would guess you're good to go.
If it happens again or you have issues , you could try the clean slate strategy at that time I guess.

How can I permanently determine from which drive the Mac should boot without a boot screen selection?
control click when selecting the boot disk should work. First the OCLP EFI, then the disk itself. and make sure the start-up disk is selected in system settings/startup disk.

Thanks, @houser . I did exactly all this. But as I said, the Mac always starts from the disk in Bay 1 (the first in a row from left to right).

I'm a new user and I installed my first OC with v. 0.5.3 some month ago with the help of Mr Macintosh videos.

This is my first MacOS update (Ventura 13.2) with the OC setup. I've seen Mr Macintosh mention that we should use the full installer so I've downloaded it to my apps.

But I can't find any info of how to install the full installer.

Do I run the installer from apps?
Or do I need to build a flash drive again to update?

I'm using an Imac 2015 5K booting on an external SSD

I was finally able to upgrade my Mac Book Air 4,2 to Ventura.
However, not able to select anything on settings . Only get black windows as above. Any clue anyone

Are you asking about creating a USB boot?

When you run OCLP and create boot installer it will ask if you want to download or locate the installer. Click locate and it should find it in applications.

Yay! I have a 4,2 also, haven't seen a report yet until yours. I guess I won't be the first.

So you don't have acceleration... or which patches are you disabling, all of them? My 4,2 has been running Monterey for six months or so without significant issue, with the default patches. I did a clean install.
I had the very same permissions problem in Monterey 12.6.3 but I must admit it was not a clean install. Another problem that carried over from Monterey was where Visual Studio Code is unusable probably due to graphics acceleration missing but I have no idea how to confirm that (or if its a given) and/or if the removal of my patches are affecting this as well.

The speed difference alone and after a good 2 days of using it I can confidently recommend this but if you would like to wait longer feel free or let me know what more I can let you know about.

Have you tried a clean install? I would also try with/without the Post Install patches through the Open Core Patcher app.
Yes I tried a clean install but with post install root patches. If I try without root patch will not get graphic acceleration. Howabout you as you have same MacBook Air as me. are you able to select all options in settings

Interesting! I was able to see the settings just fine without those black boxes with/without the post install patches. I have no idea what might be causing that.

Works great on my test drive. Root patching went well. Although it identifies as an Intel core i5... which is odd.

Yep this is a known issue with hd3000 graphics. I have exactly the same issue on Mac mini 5,1. We just have to wait for a fix. OCLP 0.6.2 change log states there is a fix for this but I've tried it and it doesn't work.

My two PATA connected SuperDrives are literally dead in Ventura! Does anybody know, if you will ever be able to use them with OCLP again?

Thank God I have a USB SuperDrive here, but I have to admit that I have used the drives rather rarely in the past year ...

I too hope the fix comes out soon. Meanwhile I reverted the root patches and it works like it is supposed to but is laggy as no graphic acceleration. If I use the post install patch I will get same black windows in settings and cannot select any options.

Thank you guys for all your support and tips. I did force reboot the third option and it worked! At first, the boot gave me a black screen without any clue nor noise, but after a few seconds/minutes it started and it continues as mentioned in the video.

Now I have something odd. At the end, it installed all the needed patches and everything is working find except that my computer is a little bit laggy/slow. The patches are installed, I can feel that my touchpad/mouse is fast and response correctly while using the OS, but all other stuff is laggy. Scrolling up/down in browser, minimize any window software in the tray, some effects, etc.

So all the post patches are installed but it's slow and laggy. Also, my menu bar is always black despite selecting a light theme.

I heard that I can apply this code below to only use my Intel graphic card and disable my Radeon, and then having a smooth experience, but I don't get the point of doing this since it's supposed to handle non metal graphic computer.

nvram FA4CE28D-B62F-4C99-9CC3-6815686E30F9:gpu-power-prefs=%01%00%00%00

Do you think there is a better way than doing this?

Thanks again guys, you are very helpful!

Answering my own question, running the below command improved a lot my experience (smooth, no lag, etc.)

sudo nvram fa4ce28d-b62f-4c99-9cc3-6815686e30f9:gpu-power-prefs=%01%00%00%00

The thing is that it's disabling completely my Radeon HD 6750M graphic card, which it's kind of sad because I thought the patches would make it useful.

Is there a way to use my Radeon for better graphic performance instead of forcing Intel HD? Is there a way to do the opposite, force Radeon instead of Intel? Is there a driver I need to install while having both graphic cards?

My experience with only Intel graphic card is excellent, except that I can notice a kind of "flickering" effect on some views

Thanks

Отвечая на мой собственный вопрос, выполнение приведенной ниже команды значительно улучшило мой опыт (гладкий, без задержек и т. д.)

sudo nvram fa4ce28d-b62f-4c99-9cc3-6815686e30f9:gpu-power-prefs=%01%00%00%00
Hey! Tell me, how did you manage to enter this command in Ventura? I have an MBP with similar parameters and the same problem.
P.S. Discrete card is not yet possible to use. The developers write in the description that they are working on this issue, but so far without success. Let's be patient and wait for their victory over this problem.

Open a terminal and enter this command. Reboot and voilà! If you want to bring back both graphic cards, re-enter the same command/reboot by changing the "1" %01%00%00%00 to "0" %00%00%00%00 at the end of the command

These have been dead for me in Monterey as well. I installed a SATA DVD drive and used a SATA extension cable to connect it to an empty HDD SATA connector instead. Works perfectly. But yeah, I also rarely use the drive. Was more like a proof of concept.

I'm not sure if developers use their time to try to activate PATA drives (if technically even possible) because they probably have more important priorities.

After installing opencore 0.6.1, the quadro p5200m video card accelerator works in the Vntura 13.2 system without metal.
If I turn on metal, the accelerator also works. But, when I open any application, the finder blinks or disappears for 5 seconds ... It's sad ...

Further to my message above, I finally did the following and all is working great.
1. I re installed post root patches.
2. got back graphics acceleration & transparency.
3. The 'system settings pane' again showed all text missing and black blocks.
4. I selected display and on right side 3rd black box clicked my mouse & got the color profile pane.
5. Selected unknown display in lieu of color Lcd.
And viola ! all text came back and everything working perfect. ✌️

Update

One big issue is there. Cannot connect external devices through Bluetooth. Though the device shows up but no pairing pop up windows. Example my external Bluetooth speaker is unable to pair. ====> SOLVED WITH TAB+SPACE BAR (USING NAVIGATION ON in KEYBOARD SETTING)

You could try using this utility to use either the Intel GPU or the discrete GPU.
Latest version is 2.5.

Made a small video on my experience so far on getting Ventura on a Mac Pro 4,1 as I mentioned here earlier.
With the HD 5770, I see some glitches with the graphics but need to double check if there is nothing wrong with my GPU. Anyone else experiencing the same and gave this a try with that GPU? It's different from the issue with black boxes somehow. Unfortunately I don't have any RX560 or RX580 anymore. I also have an AMD R9 280 laying around whixh should be Metal-capable but that one is not supported (yet).

Here's the video:

As I mention in it as well, I need to spend some more time on it for a better conclusion...

Thank you, so far problem with Bluetooth but, the enter+tab trick works , but, I have to reset it at each start. This was an upgrade on top of Monterey, so all my files and setting were okay. My second monitor is working, but, strangely not present in the set up display. Sound is pebble but okay with adding soundSource app. InMap there is no display, I can see my position but there is no image. Zoom is working, Safari is okay. All USB working without problem, I have a WIFI dongle, no problem , same things since BigSur, Mail was slow to setup but working now, no problem. using Wireless USB BigSur Adapter-V13. Clean my Mac works as well.Thank you all for your Help and Hard work, I admire your dedication and passion...
