LOL wtf, are people really selling OCLP patched Ventura installers now?

My daughter called me a "geek" for patching my 2009 MBP....She mentioned how I got Monterrey on my MBP to a friend which then asked if I could install Ventura on her 2011 MBP...I guess I'm no longer a geek.

Out of curiosity: does anyone experience sleep issues on their macs after updating to 13.2?

I think I do...just found out. I transported my MBP 9,3 with the lid closed for 12 hours and the battery was drained. I will test further to be sure but I think it did not go to sleep, even thoough the lid apple light goes out when the lid is closed.

I've been reading conflicting reports about Bluetooth availability on cMP 5,1's running Ventura via OCLP 0.6.1. Does the BT part of the Broadcom BCM943602CDP Wi-Fi/Bluetooth module work without issues, or does this functionality require some kind of rewiring, patching, installation of internal hubs or anything else? Are there any limitations to Bluetooth availability? For instance, would it work if one were to launch the Recovery environment? Would it work while installing Ventura?

Easy question, longer answer:

The BT part of the module itself is fine and still supported by the kexts/drivers etc. under Ventura.
What Ventura misses (out of the box, unpatched) is the necessary USB 1.1 communication stack. This would be needed because the BT module is hooked up in a way internally that requires this.

There are two solutions currently:
a) patch the system for USB 1.1 use (unfortunately at this time this rules out operation of USB 3.x cards or extensions because both stacks do not work at the same time - the dev team is on it to see if this can be done)
b) hook up the BT module´s USB line to a USB 2.0 hub (either internally or with an external detour-wiring)

Advantages of each solution are obvious:
Software vs. hardware "hack" with different level of effort and (non-)availibility at boot time (i.e. for recovery boot runs).

I found the culprit: I turned off Wake for network access in Battery settings, the MacBook now goes and stays asleep as expected.

However Wifi was turned off anyway, nothing was connected to Ethernet either.

hello,

I installed Ventura OCLP on my IMAC 13.1 and everything is fine. I try on my Imac 11.2 and it work !!! but I have little troubleshooting.

1 - the mouse freeze after a screen saver > I try on screen save to désactivante the first item, 'no stop HDD' (I'm not expecting a problem with SSD!). The result is not very good. It is better on Monterey
2 - no monitor/mouse/keyboard sharing with other Ventura > no solution
3 - Plan : impossible to validate the first panel > no solution

Have you information on this troubleshooting ? Thank

Trying to get my 2016 MBP running Ventura with OCLP. 0.61. I thought I had it but now I am getting an error -71 post patch trying to rebuild the cache. It can't rebuild the cache and is complaining about a unresolved dependency and I cannot find any information what the problem is or how to get rid of or what the dependency is for: com.apple.driver.AppleInputDeviceSupport names a dependency which was not found 'com.apple.iokit.CoreAnalyticsFamily'. Did I set something up wrong, I picked MacBookPro 13,3 and built the install USB. I was running Montery previously.

Hi, re-Patch Failure (71): go to Library Folder then Developer Folder and delete the KDF folder reboot then reinstall root patches, had same problem this worked for me.

When you say KDF Folder, I just have a KDKs folder and some xcode related folders under /Library/Developer and it does have what looks like a v13.1 and v13.2 related folders. I am going to delete those and re-install.

Hi All.

I have a cMP 4,1 flashed to a 5,1 installed with a Sapphire Nitro+ RX580 8GB GPU. Also, 48gb 1333mhz DDRAM, 2 regular spinning HD (1TB with Monterey installed--not an issue) and 640gb with Ventura 13.2

I used oclp 0.6.1 and everything is fine on Ventura except I cant install the post installation "AMD Polaris" patches for the Rx580 , so i currently have no HW acceleration for the Rx580. I've downloaded the latest KDK for 13.2 but it still gives me the following dependency error:

com.apple.kext.AMDRadeonX4000 names a dependency on com.apple.iokit.IOAcceleratorFamily2 , which was not found

Any assistance on what could have gone wrong or how to resolve this. Thank you so much for any help on this.

I have seen this several times. Finally had good results by:
1. Using the MountEFI utility script available on Github to mount the EFI partition and erase everything in it.
2. Erase the KDKs folder in Library/Developers, & Download the latest nightly OCLP app
3. Reboot and hold down the r+p+Option+Command keys until you hear the Bong twice
4. Run the OCLP app and install to the target disk, and reboot
5. Run the Post Install Root Patch
In addition to a clean install, formatting the target disk while booted up from a USB install disk with OCLP installed, you can run CCC to copy a Data only copy of a prior Ventura or Monterey installation to the target disk and then install Ventura via running a copy of the Apple Ventura installer located in the Applications folder on the target disk.
This method works sometimes, and when it works, it is a lot faster than a clean install and avoids the poor bluetooth and USB connections, at least on my iMac 15,1 model. Haven't tried it on older machines, so your results may vary.

The nightly version of OCLP has been updated, dated Feb-3-2023,
Edit: But it screwed up my iMac's Venture system just by installing it! Took me half a day to get the system back up and working correctly using the prior version of OCLP 0.6.2 dated 1-31-2023.
So be careful.

I would say that instead of geek, you are just making sure you working Apple computers are up to date and no left behind because a company force people to buy new systems.

So far Ventura 13.2 is operating fine on my MacBookPro11,4. But I do have a problem; I can't easily share files between this and other Macs over a network. If I try to connect to another Mac running Ventura or not, the Finder will usually lock up and I have to either log out and back in, or reboot the Mac. If I "Force Restart" Finder, it simply won't start back up. Same thing happens if I try to access this from another Mac, like my M1 MacBook Air.
Anyone else getting something like this, too? For now, I can only share files between them via Target Disk Mode and my iCloud Drive. (I can't even use AirDrop between them, either!)
Now I'm having the same problem running Ventura 13.2 on my MacBookPro9,1 (2.6 GHz quad-core i7 processor). If I try to share between another Mac using one of these OCLP Macs, in addition to Finder locking up, it also disrupts the Mac's network/Internet connection. Anyone else having the issue I described?

File sharing seems to be a general Ventura issue as mentioned in this and other threads:

After patching Nvidia graphics with OCLP 0.6.1, is anyone else experiencing problems with the Message App in Ventura 13.2? With my MBP6,2 running Ventura 13.2, Messaging App freezes when first launched. Messaging App works fine in Monterey 12.6.3.

EDIT: After attempting to launch Messaging App in Ventura 13.2, the only way I can close the app is Force Quit.

EDIT2: This is only a UI issue. If I don't open the Messaging App, I receive Message notifications normally.

Anyone with Ventura 13.2 had any camera problems with their 2011 iMac? Mine appears to be working, its registered in System Information,

Screenshot 2023-02-03 at 17.03.08.png

the green LED illuminates when I open an app that uses it, but it doesn't pass video: no image. eg. Photo Booth remains black. I can 'fix' it however with the FaceTime app. If I have Photo Booth open first and it is black, then I open FaceTime, FaceTime video works, and this makes the Photo Booth video work too. The other way around doesn't work, though. ie. If I open FaceTime first and it has video, then I open Photo Booth, Photo Booth cuts the video signal to both apps and they both go black.

I used Microsoft Teams earlier and there was no video signal in it, just checked and the 'FaceTime fix' works there as well. Again only a 1-way fix and Teams will break a working FaceTime video signal.

Updated my MBA '13 to Ventura 13.x (don't remember if it's .0 or .1). Can I use Apple's built-in updater to get 13.2 installed or do I need to use OCLP to install the full OS ? I see people referring to doing the "OTA upgrade" and am not sure if they mean "OTA as in a 12gb 13.2 download" or Apple's built-in option.
