After patching Nvidia graphics with OCLP 0.6.1, is anyone else experiencing problems with the Message App in Ventura 13.2? With my MBP6,2 running Ventura 13.2, Messaging App freezes when first launched. Messaging App works fine in Monterey 12.6.3.

EDIT: After attempting to launch Messaging App in Ventura 13.2, the only way I can close the app is Force Quit.

EDIT2: This is only a UI issue. If I don't open the Messaging App, I receive Message notifications normally.
I’m running 2009 Mac mini, and I have the same issue with iMessage. Also, when I go into settings and click the screen time or Apple ID, nothing opens.

I had the same issue on the Beta but as soon as I went to 13.2RC all works well!

Thanks for the quick reply. I'm not enrolled in Ventura Beta, so my version is 13.2 [Release]. Maybe the act of re-installing fixes it? I'm ok with falling back on Monterey for now and will wait to see if this "fixes itself" when I perform the next Ventura update.

@SilvytheKat - I'm glad I'm not alone :)

I'm on the latest version of Ventura 13.2 (22D49). The iMessage issue only appears with my Mac Mini 2009 which has a none-metal GPU. My other devices, MacBook Air 2017, Mac Mini 2012, Mac Mini 2014, do not have the iMessage issue.
My Mac Mini 2009 also has a crashing issue with ScreenTime and a process called DMD. Both of these fail to launch which creates a perpetual crash report.

Anyone with Ventura 13.2 had any camera problems with their 2011 iMac? Mine appears to be working, its registered in System Information,

the green LED illuminates when I open an app that uses it, but it doesn't pass video: no image. eg. Photo Booth remains black. I can 'fix' it however with the FaceTime app. If I have Photo Booth open first and it is black, then I open FaceTime, FaceTime video works, and this makes the Photo Booth video work too. The other way around doesn't work, though. ie. If I open FaceTime first and it has video, then I open Photo Booth, Photo Booth cuts the video signal to both apps and they both go black.

I used Microsoft Teams earlier and there was no video signal in it, just checked and the 'FaceTime fix' works there as well. Again only a 1-way fix and Teams will break a working FaceTime video signal.
Facetime video surely works but photobooth will not work. The developers of OCLP has already listed the issues in the troubleshoot page

Updated my MBA '13 to Ventura 13.x (don't remember if it's .0 or .1). Can I use Apple's built-in updater to get 13.2 installed or do I need to use OCLP to install the full OS ? I see people referring to doing the "OTA upgrade" and am not sure if they mean "OTA as in a 12gb 13.2 download" or Apple's built-in option.
Do not use the Apple built in Software update to install Ventura. Your system will crash. You have to use OCLP to install the full Ventura OS. People do the OTA update only if there is any update related to that system like Safar, security update or update to say next version of Ventura. Hope this clarifys. cheers

After installing OCLP post-installer patches, I simply select the normal update and all is well. As far as I can tell, OCLP must override the default Apple incremental update and force a full install/update. Never had any crashes as a result.

yes. Incase there is any apple update one has to update and run post install patches.

@HallStevenson After you patch your MBA'13 with OCLP, you will see OTA updates just like you would on a supported Mac. The difference will be that the OTA update will be the full MacOS installer (not a smaller, incremental update) and after the update, OCLP will prompt you to install the post-install patches.
That's right. In addition, you can use SilentKnight to get other updates. If you want to avoid an update (like the large Ventura update) copy/paste the "Label" of any update in the File/InstallNamedUpdate window, one by one if there are more than one.

That's what happened to me the only time i tried Ventura built in update. I always dowloaded the full installer and launch it also from another partition ( big sur or monterey). it takes 40 minutes about.

Sorry I got lost.

I am on Ventura 13.1 and I would like to update to Ventura 13.2. I have already updated OCLP to latest version and installed to EFI.

What shall I do to update to Ventura 13.2?
Thanks for clarifying.

You can now use software update to go from 13.1 to 13.2 and then dont forget to install post install patches again.

So I use the Setting->General->Software Update and I update as the macOS were supported. Then I install the post patches again.
Have I understood correctly?
Thansk.

@dcaccount Yes - that is correct. After patching your unsupported Mac with OCLP, when software update runs, it will download and run the full OS installer, not the incremental update. After the software update is complete, apply OCLP post-install patches.

On my MacBookPro6,2 (patched with OCLP 0.6.1 and now running Ventura 13.2 [Release]), I apply updates just as though my MBP6,2 were a supported Mac. I follow the normal software update process (which downloads the full installer, not the incremental update) and then after the macOS update is complete, OCLP prompts me to install the post patches. This update process is the same, whether I use Setting->General->Software Update to trigger the update or whether I'm notified of an available update.

I thought this would be the same for everyone who patches their rig with OCLP, but maybe not? Given that there are clearly still a few issues with OCLP, it is possible that the intended behavior may still be different from the actual for some and that this behavior may vary from model to model (until the issues are resolved).

The intent of OCLP is to make the unsupported update experience virtually identical to that of the supported.

Note this from the OCLP Manual:

Thanks for the good detective work! How do we submit this issue to the OCLP team? I logged into GitHub, but issue-submission seems to be limited to collaborators and I am not one of them.

EDIT: I posted this issue on the Unsupported Macs Discord Server, #opencore-patchers channel .

I hope it work on the MacPro 2009. It never work this way. Every time there is a new release. Software Update will download the whole 12+ GB in size. My 2011 iMac will download correctly just the update size which is usually 2 to 3gb.

Did you build and install OpenCore first?

Hey guys I've been really frying my brain for the past two days, trying to get my Strix 480 and Ventura working in my 5,1 Mac Pro (it's a 4,1 flashed to 5,1).

I can get Ventura installed with OCLP 6.1 with my Mac GT 120, build the OCLP partition patch so the drive can boot on its own, and then install the post install patches (It didn't ask me to disable SIP or AMFI)

The GT 120 works fine, but when I put my 480 into my Mac Pro and select my Ventura install partition from OCLP, it freezes at the apple logo the progress bar stays static and empty.

Any ideas? Thanks for the help guys

Obviously, the issue is related to that graphics card, as I have seen other posts about success with OCLP on cMP, Mac Pros from 2010-2012. Have you tried booting from your OCLP USB install disk, rather than the EFI partition?
Same resulting crash? If that doesn't work, it looks like you need to find a better/more compatible GPU.

On mine, it worked exactly like you said it would. I ran Apple's update-check, it showed an 11-12gb update, and I proceeded. After it rebooted into 13.2, OCLP either popped up on its own or I ran it (can't remember, sorry), I ran "Post install patches" or whatever the wording is, rebooting again, and done.

@HallStevenson Sounds like you had a great upgrade experience - glad to hear that! After MacOS is updated on an OCLP-patched Mac, OCLP is supposed to detect whether post install patches are required. If required, OCLP is supposed to display a prompt like this:
