I'm trying to install Ventura on a 2016 Macbook. It's currently running Monterey. Every time I get to the installation window after restarting the mac, the trackpad stops functioning (the clickable sides become stuck) and the cursor stops moving. When i abandon the installation and boot back into Monterey, everything is perfect. It's happened several times. I get to the installation window, and the trackpad seizes. Tried connecting a mouse; same thing; it just freezes at installation. I installed Ventura on a 2012 Macbook Pro, and it's running flawlessly, but somehow the 2016 Macbook simply won't allow installation. Any ideas?
Are you trying to use the same USB install that was used on the 2012 Macbook on the 2016? Make sure OCLP 0.6.1 is for your specific Macbook....I know it's an obvious question, but thought I'd ask.

I stand corrected. I wonder why OCLP would place the Capri kext in /L/E for HD4000 patching, but not for NVidia patching. Makes no sense to me.

EDIT: I checked in Monterey 12.6.3 and Ventura 13.2.1 and OCLP doesn't place any kexts in /L/E or /S/L/E on my MBP6,2. Strange that it places the HD4000 Capri kext in /L/E.
Yes it is in /L/E
in ventura I should just copy it over no need to rebuild kept cache right? Still profiler only shows the usual 1,5GB

i use the command:
sudo perl -pi -e 's|\x00.{1}\x10\x07\x00\x00\x10\x07|\x00\xFF\x10\x07\x00\x00\x10\x07|g' AppleIntelFramebufferCapri

@ikir I think you're better off continuing this conversation in the thread that was created for this (just my opinion). Start by following the process stated by JackLuke (which includes rebuilding KC) and then debug from there. There are multiple ways to rebuild KC. You can use Hackintool or conduct a web search for many posts that detail the commands to issue in terminal.

Well folks - after giving up on my old iMac 10,1 and replacing it with a iMac 12,2 - I’ve had success with Ventura 13,2,1

So that’s all my Mac’s now running Ventura 13,2,1

Thanks OpenCoreLegacyPatcher Team

And thanks to everyone on this forum for they invaluable help, advice and patience for all of us who live on the edge

Seems to run a lot smoother than Monterey did so far - no graphical glitches seen

UPDATE: So maps doesn't seem to want to display any map - but I believe this is a known issue - everything else seems to be working so far, BT, WIFI, (both functioning and in setting)

I guess you are seeing these options right after the reboot?

They appear to be OpenCore's menu options but something is wrong with your OpenCore configuration. Normally there will be 'macOS' and 'Recovery' entries.

My suggestion is:

  1. Clear NVRAM, which will revert some modifications OpenCore did.
  2. The firmware will boot the default Macintosh HD partition, if you still have the old macOS on that. If not:
    1. Boot through a USB thumb drive or macOS Recovery over the Internet.
    2. Try to recover/backup your data.
    3. Reinstall one of the officially supported macOS system.
do u know where i can get macos to put into a usb drive to boot off of? I dont have another mac to download macos catalina from..

i also cant go into recovery mode and internet recovery mode, the keyboard works fine tho.. this is so frustrating haha

I guess your macOS Recovery partition is damaged so it's not possible to get into Recovery Mode.

Have you reset the NVRAM yet? If not, your machine will still boot to OpenCore. In that case, your Option-Shift-Command-R key combination could be sent to OpenCore.

To enter internet recovery mode, make sure you press Option-Shift-Command-R early enough (immediately when you hear the startup chime or see the Apple logo light) so the signal can be sent to the firmware, not OpenCore.

If the problem persists, there could be something else wrong. I would suggest that you check if pressing the Option key takes you to the boot device selection menu. Only if the Option key works can we proceed to the USB installation way.

I assume you have a PC? You may try gibMacOS (open source software) though I am not sure if it works in this situation.

Hello. Yesterday I update my Mac mini 2012 to Ventura 13.3 beta 3 but after reboot and enter to system Ido the after patch to the system because of graphics

After reboot system it stuck at Apple screen for one hour

This morning I tried to install from USB installer, it did the different reboots but after an hour again it stuck at Apple screen (in the same point of progress)

Preliminar: I got work the system without any issues in a external SSD some weeks before and works good

I opt yesterday patch the system (EFI) reboot and do the upgrade through the macOS system and it works, I enter to my session, but after I patch system it breaks and never reboot again

A strange thing is that my system ssd has the OC folder in de EFI but it’s not recognize bt the system in reboot menu, I need to apply OC with the USB installer
Any idea? Is it a chance to comeback to Monterey macOS without format the ssd system

Is there a chance to get avoid the Apple Loop?

Don't want to sound teaching, but dealing with betas, it's better to read before than after ;)
Of course I know, several weeks later, after months of OCLP working with Ventura, last version 0.6.1 ... I believe it was mature enough. Last betas has few changes and yes, last night system show me last version and was a beta 3 ... and I thought everything was ok after all

the problem for now is to install 13.2.1 or 13.3.beta2
I will try if 13.2.1 was consider the last version, if not I need download beta2, the problema is where can I get the beta2. gibMacOS only shows me 13.2.1 and 13.3.beta3 to download

AFAIK, you cannot downgrade to previous beta, but to the last stable only.
But try Mr. Macintosh site.

I will try with 13.2.1 in that case I would apply patch with any problem, isn't it?

I saw I'm not the only fool, the fact is that you come to the forum when you have the problem (it was my case), a lot of days before looking for this, working on the parallel external usb system and I thought it's Friday lets put a Little Rock and roll to the weekend and jump to Ventura in principal system ... strike one

That's right, I guess.
Hope I could save this but for now I have another issue with EFI OC

Although I have install OC EFI in principal the system doesn’t show in boot menu. It shows when plug usb installer and usb ssd system

I have reset PR and I compare EFI files and looks the same

Did you install your OpenCore EFI to the system volume?
To boot without the USB drive plugged in is quite simple:
  • Download OpenCore Legacy Patcher
  • Change Patcher settings as you'd like
  • Build OpenCore again
  • Install OpenCore to internal drive
  • Reboot holding Option, and select the internal EFI

Thanks, I know the process but when I got the EFI without the Usb installer plugged it doesn't show OC option

Even after copy the OC folder in the EFI system I got the same, by the way. I will try firstly recover my Sistem with 13.2.1 and later continue with more proofs

No success for now
- 13.2.1 -> no installation previous version (13.3 beta 3)
- 13.3 beta 2 -> can't finish, stuck in the same point as before

Is there a way to unpatch the system? I am able to enter in system disk and modify any file or config

I ran in the same problem with my MM 2014. There is a full installer now for 13.3b2. I installed USB 13.3b2 over the broken volume and had a working system without acceleration again. Waiting for post patch from OCLP.
I would like to know if the installation need to format the previous one (13.3b3) or you could install over this without format the data.

I have a backup of system with Carbon Clone but all we know that sure there is things that could be losen and prefer recover restart of system in any other mode

Yes, you can do it with OCLP in Safe Mode on 13.3 beta. But since you can not log on, I think clean reinstall is your way.

In my case (downgrade from one of problem betas) it was not necessary. But if clean install is all that left...
