It’s still not working
Chrime and Edge are slow to start
You can’t play 4K hevc videos in Photos.app at full res
It’s a bit annoying, it gives a « partially working « system

Hello sirs,

I just updated to Ventura 13.3 and the Control Panel icons are not showing and also some programs do not load (such as Photoshop and Topaz AI).

Does anyone know why this is happening?

List your hardware and the OCLP version used (in your signature or the post).
No one can even guess what went wrong without that info.

I have a 2012 13" MPB too. Do you have any issues with .png and .jpeg files opening to a grey screen and/or being unable to open in Photoshop? I installed 13.3 full release last night and lost that particular graphics functionality.
yes , same here.

OCLP latest version.
You could try to use the 0.6.3 nightly version of OCLP
Read the Change log and then download the GUI. Remember, no support available from the devs.
Your iMac is probably model 14,1 (system report/software should show that.
Putting that info in your signature (log in, click on your name, signature) would be best. Using that huge attachment just to show that partial info is a huge waste of bandwidth.
See my signature for an example, there may be much better examples too.
I have found on the older MBPs (and the older iMacs are similar) that the graphics are too old, and it is better to use Monterey. Ventura is much more demanding and offers only a very few advancements.
As a result, you may have much better luck running Monterey. Backup your data before trying to revert to Monterey, it usually requires a full SSD or HD wipe and migration.

On MBP11,3, Continuity Camera correctly shows iPhone as selectable as a video source in FaceTime; but as soon as it is selected as a source, the whole image freezes: another AMFI issue, perhaps…?
2012 13” MBP (9,2) AMFi disabled , no issues with continuity camera working very well iPhone 14 Pro Max.

I'm on 13.2.1 OCLP 0.6.2 and all has been very well for several weeks. Is there any benefit going to 13.3? Reading through some of the new bugs I'm not sure...on 11,4

Many thanks to @coolio2004 who alerted me to the Safari rendering fix in OCLP 0.6.3n (and to ASentientBot who explained it). I normally stay with the latest OCLP release (0.6.2 in this case) and assumed I was safe as long as I remained with Monterey; however, after upgrading to Monterey 12.6.4, my HackBookPro6,2 experienced the Safari issue. Applying 0.6.3 post-install patches fixed the problem. This old dog continues to learn new tricks. I'll let you all decide whether the old dog is me or the laptop.

Ok, so I found the issue with Mac Mini 2012 and random apps, Finder, System Settings crashing.

On a regular tiny HDMI monitor - everything works fine.
As soon as I switch to DisplayPort CRG9 49" monitor, apps start crashing, not loading etc.

I've used OCLP and every version of Ventura and never had an issue before with this setup until now. Anyone have any ideas on this? It wont let me post the issue on GitHub. Thanks.

MacBook Pro early 2008 (MBP 4,1). Latest nightly builds on Monterey 12.6.4, killed the finder. No windows, menus or open apps on finder.

Update: However, 0.6.2 patch correctly the machine.
Update: Same on Ventura.

My rMBP10,1 (mid 2012) doesn't like my external monitor which, like yours, is connected using DisplayPort. If I boot with the external monitor switched off, no problem, the macbook's internal display works fine. As soon as I switch on the external monitor the macOS menu bar starts flashing on and off, and finder and system settings fail to load.

All was OK before upgrading from macOS 13.2.1 + OCLP 6.1 to macOS 13.3 + OCLP 6.2. From your experience with your small HDMI monitor working OK, I should try hooking up my external monitor using HDMI

Hi there,

Does anyone know reliably if the MacBookPro11,3 still requires the special dGPU treatments when installing or updating Ventura, or was that a Monterey-related (12.5+) issue only?

Thanks

I wonder how long before 0.6.3 releases officially. It was a 2 month wait for 0.6.2. I'd rather avoid nightlies if it's coming soon. They're such an amazing team though. I was impressed to see 0.6.2 drop the same day as the Apple updates.

When I brought up this issue outside this forum, at least for Chrome, does disabling hardware acceleration in chrome give you a normal startup? I don't have Ventura installed, so can't test for myself. That was the suggestion I was given was to disable hardware acceleration in Chrome. The other question I have is, I also own a license for ScreenFlow. They specifically say "ScreenFlow doesn't support Hackintosh systems" Since that is esentally what OCLP is, should I just wait until I can get a new Mac before I upgrade beyond Monterey to ensure everything continues to work?

OCLP latest version.
Not a reply to SirDogg:
After installing the latest 0.6.3n on an iMac 15,1, SilentKnight shows EFI Firmware needs updating; the firmware is now 474.0.0.0.0
How do you get that firmware update? macOS 13.3 Ventura has already been installed.

Is there a supported version of macOS for your mac? If so, you could install it to an external drive, and it will install the efi firmware update.

tcc plus wrapper hot fix

OCLP 0.6.2 includes a workaround for legacy metal (3802: Ivy/Haswell/Kepler) crashes on macOS 13.3. Be sure to download the latest OCLP release and build/install OC before updating, and then reapply root patches afterwards. Note, this workaround currently disables AMFI, which may break safe mode, and tccplus may be needed to grant permissions. As always, don't update without making a backup first.

Besides Parallels Desktop and VMware Fusion, also VirtualBox won’t start VMs with AMFI disabled (just tried): only UTM seems to work without problems. As for trying to enable AMFI anyway, probably this would not permit booting the Mac (BTW, IIRC, it was so before the initial OCLP release for Ventura, when AMFI still had to be disabled: but this was fixed in 0.5.0); one could anyway try, if one has another always bootable volume, partition or disk, from which to be able to restore a working OCLP: but it’s probably better to wait for an official solution…

(BTW, in order to continue to use my VMs (all on an external Thunderbolt SSD), I created an additional 64 GB APFS volume, on which I installed macOS Monterey 12.6.4, Parallels and Fusion: thus, I can keep them up-to-date, in the meantime, until a solution is found for the macOS Ventura 13.3+ AMFI OCLP problem.)
I tried this, booting to 13.3 with AMFI enabled on mid 2011 iMac, it did not boot, progress bar does not go past 50%. I reconfigured OCLP to enabled SIP and AMFI then rebooted to 13.3 successfully but because of SIP enabling, post-install patches didn't take effect and I am greeted with unpatched system (no graphics acceleration and no wifi). Reconfigured OCLP to recommended settings and I was able to boot successfully to 13.3 (w/ acceleration and wifi). So in 13.3, AMFI must really be disabled.

But one thing I noticed, with the recommended OCLP settings for 13.3 installed, I booted to 11.7.5. it booted successfully. Then I fired up OCLP 0.6.2 and I noticed that the recommended settings is the same as in 13.3
-SIP: 0x803
-AMFI: disabled

I was thinking that since OCLP states in the "Configure SIP" setting that "OCLP by default knows the most ideal SIP value for your system..." I thought that I will be provided with optimal SIP setting for 11.7.5 but instead, I was given the optimal setting for 13.3. Does this mean 0.6.2 does not recognize Big Sur installations? I have not tested this with Monterey as I don't have it installed. Maybe others who have Monterey can test this.

I think the way it works is when you run the configurator and save the OCLP configuration, that is when it detects the computer type. When you change the boot volume, the OCLP configuration does not change.
