Successfully updated to macOS 13.5 with OpenCore 0.6.8 on MacBook 2012 15-inch

On MacBook 2012 15-inch was installed MacOS Ventura 13.2.1 with Opencore 0.6.1 because of AMFI. First i have updated Opencore to 0.6.8 without changing any setting beside the Feature unlock to Partial, installed to main drive EFI and restart by option to boot EFI, where the Opencore has been installed (just for first time), I reinstalled Root-patches again in OpenCore 0.6.8, restart, then I straight used the Mac's Settings to update to MacOS Ventura 13.5 (this is a full about 12 GB in settings, you can also download the full installation from Appstore either APP or PKG), leave it until it finishes, it does do many restarts (remember for multi OS to select the Ventura partition if not by default boot), after when the update finished and the desktop is ready, wait about 5 minutes (depends how fast your drive is) an alert from OpenCore should show up to install Root-patches, if no alert shown up, then go to root of the drive in finder, Computer > Drive > Library > Application Support > Dortania > OpenCore, click to install Root-Patches, Restart. Done. This is my way and there might be easier ways too.

for confirmation about AMFI, VMware runs fine but only by discrete GPU Nvidia, using Intel's internal GPU won't work and an alert "pipe" shows up, not only this, even in widgets in Calendar the days does not show properly but with Nvidia is totally fine. So yes AMFI works fine.

What the good news is I saw in this version, I can now copy texts from browsers Safari, Edge, Chrome to Apple Pages without problem, in Ventura 13.2.1 I had to paste to Textedit and then to Apple Pages with that problem and now no more problem in Ventura 13.5, I really feel it is nice and stable for right now.

What the bad news is it seems that version of Ventura 13.5 from Apple has Location service settings issue which can't be changed, however when I opened Apple Maps it asked me to allow location and choose to yes, and the Apple Maps location works but I can't see it in the Apple Mac Settings, for the same requests from browser Edge, no alerts nor I could give permission to use location service, unless we use terminal commands.

🎇🎇 A big Thanks to brave Developers for OpenCore and to all friends who helped 🎆🎆

Ventura 13.5 broke BCM92046MD support, this module has been used (AFAIK) in all iMacs 2009-2011. There is currently only a hack booting into any previous macOS release installed on this machine and back into Ventura 13.5. The older release will set some NVRAM variables needed for proper BT support. But you will loose these settings after each NVRAM reset. One can - of course - make this variables persistent in the OpenCore config.plist (another hack, if you ask me, but it works surprisingly well).
Thanks to all that replied, but unfortunately I was lost after the first sentence. Just an old fighter pilot with basic computer skills. So are y’all saying I’m SOL with getting Bluetooth back, or is there a work around (hack) by adjusting the OCLP settings? OR by changing the card as described by MichaelDT in post #1 which I do not feel at all confident enough?
Again, two thumbs up to all for your brains and help.

That ac-wifi.bt4 cards are cheap on ebay and pretty easy to swap as long as you have steady hands, which I assume a fighter pilot might have too ;) Lots of videos on YouTube for this sort of thing.
I have done it a few times as a retired fast learning autodidact.

Strong coffee and 20 minutes or so. The antenna cables are bit fidgety to get back but no violence and you should be good. Take pictures on your phone for reference as you go. Good luck.

First i have updated Opencore to 0.6.8 without changing any setting beside the Feature unlock to Partial,
FYI, I have the same m/c, 15" rMBP10,1 mid-2012. I left the 0.6.8 default Feature unlock setting as Enabled. All seems to be stable so far.

In previous versions I did have to set it to Partial to fix instability in Safari, mainly when using copy/paste/other keyboard shortcuts, arrow keys, etc. That seems to be no longer an issue on my m/c

Edit later, apologies, I read your post again, you stated that your m/c is a MB, not a rMBP. But in your signature you say it has the Nvidia GeForce 650m - surely that makes it a rMBP10,1? It might pay to state the model number.

Has anyone gotten CoreML to work on their iMac 17,1 with Ventura and OCLP 0.6.7 or the newly released OCLP 0.6.8?

And what's the trick? I was using Pixelmator Pro and its resolution scaler to test out the speed of it all on Ventura. Only to learn its at a snail's pace compared to Monterey on supported hardware.

On my iMac 17,1, with OCLP 0.6.8 I have 2 remaining issues annoying me:
- HEVC videos (and Live Photos) are still rendered in low res (not 4K)
- more important : I can’t use Xcode 15 simulators (ios 17). It seems Xcode is not able to run an app in debug mode and simulator has display glitches (no transparency for example)
Am I alone ?

Well, this is great that with feature unlock works fine, i will try it too. Thanks.

My computer is not the retina one, just the normal display.
All the MacBook in 2012 has the same CPU Ivy-Bridge from Intel, so they are almost same beside the 15-inchs for both normal display and Retina display are quad-core which doubles the performance compare to smaller inch models, and two they have a discrete GPU Nvidia Geforce GT 650M either 512MB or 1GB (Normal display and Retina Display).

I ventured to update versions 0.6.7 > 0.6.8 and 13.4 > 13.5 via the OCLP (USB) installer. Everything went absolutely smoothly.

I did not notice any changes either in the speed of opening applications or in the functionality.

Still not working:
- face recognition in new photos
- import images to Pages

Do you mean Import from Apple's iDevices?
If you mean on Mac, I can simply drag and drop the photo, it does work, also this way also works Media > Photos from Apple Photos Library.

YES DEVELOPERS SHOULD FIX THAT ISSUE MUST TEST IT ON LATEST IMAC 2019-2020 if there is issue with invalid instructions with latest Pages then problem is library and bug of Apple otherwise they must copy library or apply to older mac os system as patch in order for import images to work as should.

I think with every new patch apple is removing some library or disable them so older mac would not work properly only thing is Repatching core with 13.2.1 with latest PATCHES OR IMPORTING THEN AFTER NEWER PATCH.

Works fine on my 15" MacBook Pro [rMBP 11,2 base model / Mid 2014]

Works fine on my 15" MacBook Pro [rMBP 11,2 base model / Mid 2014] – did you chose this in Photos Settings?

Then you have mostly the optimised file on your Mac. BUT if you klick on Edit the original file is downloaded from iCloud.

In the Pages application: when trying to import images by dragging from the desktop or using the Media menu item, the application crashes

Not exactly! I had to read the all variables from NVRAM using nvram -xp and added those which are bluetooth related (simply all containing tooth in the name) to the config.plist using a command line editor.

There will be a solution not needing this kind of manual intervention.

With the release of Ventura 13.5 I decided to update a test installation of 13.3 on an disk separate from my PCIE SSD (contains Monterey 12.6.8 and OCLP 0.6.8). If all went well i'd finally make the move from Monterey. Things didn't go well. Upgrade from USB created with OCLP went well but when it comes to logging in the windowserver crashes. After entering my password the text box is replaced by a little twirly thing, it makes a couple revolutions, machine locks up for about 20 seconds, black screen then back to login. Eventually with enough tries it does work but the windowserver will crash within a few minutes. Had enough time to open console and copy 1 of the dozens of crash reports to my Monterey desktop. The previous 13.3 installation worked fine without any issues. Can technically do a clean install without any loss but would like to know why it crashes.

Attached is a copy of a crash report.

Well done! Are you able to post the list of nvram variables/values?

Updated to 13.5 (22G74) on my iMac 17,1 last week.

Today, OCLP updated itself to 0.6.8. Then it updated my boot OpenCore, then it re-did the Post-Install Root Patch.
Now, all my Google based apps (Google Chrome, Gmail, R-Studio, etc) all open up in normal time, no waiting...

It might be time to think about upgrading my main drive (I have been running Ventura on an external SSD, keeping my main, internal Fusion drive at Monterey).

Edited to add..
I can now run VMs in VMware Fusion, with Accelerate 3D Graphics enabled, except if I want to run Zettlr in my virtual machine. It then just hangs the VM. Joplin, Obsidian, Virtual Studio Code, GoogleChrome, R Studio, WPS Office, etc all run nicely in the VM, except for Zettlr.

I have the same hardware as you
Have you noticed that HEVC videos (from iPhone for example) are rendered in low res in Photos.app ?
Are you using Xcode 15 ?

hello
after trying upgrading on Ventura, i did some huge mistakes :(
i lost my mojave backup HDD with oclp on it and my HDD with Ventura have been wiped
I still have snapshots in a time machines from my former Monterey on HDD.
But, i had to install Linux (Arch Linux to be precise) to use my mac pro 2012 . I'm on it now.

I own a non metal and a metal GPU.
One to visually access the boot screen (Radeon H9XXX).
The other is a Sapphire RX580 (out of cMP for now).

Well, I'm struggling making a bootable USB of Mojave, right now.

Any idea how to get back to Monterey and use my snapshots?
There's firmware issue to get back to Mojave now, right?

Each bootable Mojave i made on arch linux can't be seen on boot screen, so can't be boot.

Tried :
Dortania Making the installer
coolaj86 Create a Bootable MacOS Recovery USB with Linux

Any life savior?
Thanks

small problem with start sound off does not work.

on my imac 12.2 mid 2011 runs with opencore legasy ventura 13.4 another graphics card was used Nvidia Qudro k4100 Everything is going well, but I can't get the start tone to go away. I set it to off in the menu but it can always be heard at startup. I tried using the terminal with sudo nvram StartupMute=%00. but no change. is not so tragic now but it would be nicer without it someone already did and give it a solution

Quick question---I'm on the latest version of AMFI pass instead of OCLP. I noticed that OCLP 0.6.8 now incorporates AMFI pass......How do I install 0.6.8 and remove the version of AMFI pass as I believe they can not be installed at the same time? I want to make sure I follow the process correctly.

My bad !
In photos HEVC videos are rendered in full res if we download them ! So it's not an OCLP issue. It looks OK once the video is fully downloaded (and not only the preview)

But the Xcodes 15 beta 5 simulators problem remains.
I am checking previous Xcode 15 beta releases to check if it's the same (it was working some weeks ago).

In a similar case, I just installed version 0.6.8 on top of AMFI ß4. No problems were observed
