Hi guys,
I'm trying to use Blender but it crashes as soon as I try to open it. I've searched on this thread and I've spotted users saying it was working on previous versions of Ventura.
Is anyone having the same issue?

MBP 10,1 - Ventura 13.6 - OCLP 0.6.8
I made a post about this on the Sonoma thread, not sure if I posted it here or not. Blender 3.6.3 appears to be broken. My late 2015, 27" iMac directly supports Monterey. and it also crashed on that after updating to the latest version of Blender. I did test on Ventura and OCLP 0.6.9n and it also had the same exact crash. Because it crashed without OCLP on a natively supported OS, I don't think it's an OCLP related issue. Maybe reach out to the blender project.

Interesting. I'm downloading a previous version of Blender to see if it works.
Thanks!

EDITED: 3.6.0 works!

Thank you, @tchek! iMac perfectly identical to mine and @Marfan-58.
So, thanks to @Marfan-58 :) I had the courage to leave the very stable version 13.2.1 and upgrade to 13.5.2. [Note: I use OCLP 0.6.9 Nightly]

If by any chance you are also trying Sonoma, can you tell us if everything is better or if there is any problem with our iMacs?
Obviously… this question is also addressed to other friends who have iMac 27”, 14,2, late 2023, like ours; perhaps the best Mac Intel to use with OCLP in 2023 ;).
Thanks again!

iMac 15,1, late 2014 24GB RAM. Dual booting Sonoma RC2 on the internal Apple 128GB blade and Ventura 13.6 installed on a Crucial MX500 512GB external SSD. Both boot fine using the Sonoma branch OCLP 0.6.9n (Sonoma root patched with the Sonoma branch, and the Ventura install root patched with the main OCLP branch 0.6.9n).
Everything I can test works fine. (amazing development work over there at OCLP!)

For those who downloaded a previous version of blender, where did you find the older build? I tried looking and wasn't able to find the older downloads. Thanks.

Edit: nevermind, found it. I was using Homebrew's Blender cask, to manage the install, but in this case of the latest version being broken, i uninstalled the cask and grabbing 3.6.2 from the previous releases section.

Clean installed macOS Ventura 13.6 (22G120) on a new internal SSD.

Hi @OKonnel glad the update went well for you. 13.6 is working fine for me as well, so I can recommend the update.
I have been testing Sonoma on the 14,2 on a separate volume for a while. Now on RC2 with latest nightly build of Sonoma OCLP. All seems to be working well. Expect it to be a bit sluggish at first but I put that down to spotlight indexing. It soon settles down. So looks promising for our model of iMac

I was thinking about update from 13.2 to -> 13.16 but after update OCLP to newest version, my Mac (MBP 15’ 16) stuck on login to system. Any advice how to back to vanilla supported system or solution to make that work ? Only have access to dell machine right now

For those who are having trouble upgrading to Ventura 13.6, here are a few lessons that I learned after performing a clean macOS 13.5.2 installation and then upgrading 13.5.2 -> 13.6 on my MBP6,2. These lessons may or may not apply to you and may or may not depend on whether you have a real Mac or a hack. Again, these are lessons I learned with my MBP6,2. Try each to see if it fixes any problems you are having:
  • OC config.plist should have revpatch=sbvmm in NVRAM with RestrictEvents.kext 1.1.2 or later
  • OC config.plist should NOT have any VMM kernel patches for new macOS installations or upgrades
  • boot-args should include -no_compat_check (required for clean installations of macOS)
Slightly off-topic, but these lessons are relevant to Sonoma running on my MBP6,2, too.

EDIT: If it sounds like I'm speaking an alien language, then these lessons don't apply to you.

MBP11,1 (with macOS Ventura 13.6) now systematically freezes after some time (with kernel panic warning on the subsequent forced restart), with or without external Cinema Display connected, even if all possible sleep settings are set to never: didn’t happen before OCLP 0.6.8.

(Edit: Seems to be more stable with 0.6.9n: no freezes, so far...)

BTW, Blender 3.6.4 RC seems to work, too: so, there’s hope for the future version…

I managed to install Ventura 13.6 without problem on a 2013 iMac 27" with OCLP 0.68. But regularly the following message appears MTLAssetUpgraderD quit unexpectedly [Ignore] [Report].
Message.jpg

I don't think it comes from OCLP because it seems that some "legitimate" Ventura users have encountered the same problem. The advice they received is to reboot in safe mode but I don't know if this is possible or even useful with a system patched with OLCP.
Thanks for all the help Can you help me resolve this issue?

Update: after installing macOS Ventura 13.6 I used Migration Assistant to migrate from macOS Monterey. It now reboots when starting Ventura for about 30% of the progress bar. Did MA break the Ventura installation?

Monterey is OCLP 0.5.0 and Ventura is OCLP 0.6.8. Might this be problematic and causing the reboot issue?

EDIT: MA is best to be used during initial setup of macOS Ventura.

Back to square one. PEBKAC!

Lots of possibilities. One that comes to mind is that you should perform MA as the last step of the new macOS installation BEFORE applying OCLP post-install patches. A clean macOS install and MA is my failsafe that works every time.

EDIT: I always perform the MA when prompted by the macOS installer. For example, when I was testing the upgrade from 13.5.2 -> 13.6, I created a new APFS volume, performed a clean install of 13.5.2 to the new APFS volume, performed MA from my other 13.5.2 volume to my new 13.5.2 volume (as the last step of the new 13.5.2 installation) and then upgraded the new 13.5.2 -> 13.6. I then applied OCLP 0.6.8 post-install patches to the new 13.6. Flawless.

I did it last week on my MacBookPro (13-inch, Mid 2012), from ElCaptain to Ventura 13.6 (22G120) with OCLP 0.6.8

Like noted from others, it stopped before the end of the installation process; but after rebooting it went through.
Root patches also done.

Q: bluetooth apple mouse loose connection often, and after some click's the connection appear again.
Need some advice pls.
Search did not offer help, forgive if I missed something.
Thanks

In terminal, type 'kextstat | grep -i bluetool' If the result doesn't show version 2.6.8 (as.acidanthera.BlueToolFixup (2.6.8)) then get the latest BlueToolFixup.kext (inside BrcmPatchRAM) here. If you don't know how to upgrade the kext, wait for OCLP 0.6.9 release which will be out soon (Devs say the release of OCLP 0.6.9 is anticipated for the release date of Sonoma 14.0). If you don't want to wait for the official 0.6.9 release, use the 0.6.9 nightly sonoma-development build and refer to the Sonoma thread for help.

If nothing else works, see https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...d.2391630/page-44?post=32549825#post-32549825, post # 1,091. That points to a Bluetooth dongle that seems to work. The release of OCLP 0.6.9 being so close, you might wait for that first.

I wanted to mention, it looks like OpenCore Legacy Patcher i0.6.9 is also required for a 13" MBP 11.1 to fix the issues with Compressor thinking it is running in a Virtual Machine. Other than that, 13.6 works perfectly on that machine as well.

FYI - the current OCLP069n Sonoma Branch EFI boots Supported Catalina, Big Sur and Monterey as well as, Unsupported Ventura and Sonoma with perfection. Fear not. 😎
