It's not a matter of usage or preference.
It's a matter of sharing an issue.
It's not a show stopper, I know there are workarounds, but some people are interested in such usages.
Safari is more deeply integrated in the OS and uses more acceleration features to reduce CPU usage. That's probably why it behaves differently than 3rd party browsers.
It was working on a supported OS, so I think it's fair to tell that it's not the case with OCLP patches on my hardware.

I understand the reporting part. My point was simply to say why I prefer other browsers to Safari in General, and the fact that I typically don't watch my streaming services on a computer is because I want features the computer doesn't support such as HDR, and the multi-channel soundtrack and if the content has ATMOS, or other 3D audio.

Even serious YouTube watching, say I want to watch gaming videos, I'll use my Chromecast with Google TV, or my Apple TV to watch it on the TV. It's just a physically more comfortable experience than sitting at the computer.

So, all I'm bringing to the table here is, things people report here, I may not have thought about since I typically may not do things the same way (depending on what it is.) With that said, I got the DRM error in Disney as well, I tested it. I used to get the same thing in windows 10 via VMWare Fusion with their dedicated Disney+ app.

Heads up, Blender 3.6.4 released today, and works without issues. Just tested it on Ventura.
I'm sure it works on Monterey too.
EDIT: Yes, works in Monterey as well. So, I have found it to work on Ventura, and Monterey.

I do NOT doubt your procedure, if my writing may have given you that impression, I apologize for that.

It's just reporting back after all the time you spend reading and giving me feedback. Also sharing my experience for the good of the MR community. I think there might have occurred a major glitch after the MA procedure.

I'll try again later after a fresh reboot using a different SSD and report back.

Enjoy your day!

@m4v3r1ck And I'm sorry I gave you the impression that I thought you doubted me. Takes way more than that to offend me. ;). Just keep reporting your findings and don't worry about what I think. You're doing great.

Thanks!

And the quest continues even on another 1TB SSD using your flawless instructions

Already monitoring SSD health with DriveDx.

Completed 100% but rebooting into macOS Ventura 13.6 failed again with a reboot during startup boot ~30% (we need a bit more info on the bootscreen, then only a progress bar imho):

Checked the macOS Ventura SSD in Finder to find out MA completely failed again:

Hi folks actually I run Ventura 13.5.1 with OCLP 0.68 on various mac since my oldiest Imac 2012 late and everything works like a charm. After I read all posts here I'm very worried to create issues. so I'd prefere that situation will stabilize the behaviour. Do You agree or You suggest to update?
Thanks in advance for attention and support.
Warm regards
Ale

Thanks, but my experience is that after each reboot of macOS Monterey, spotlight - mds_stores - is always running and hitting hard on the CPU resources.

Just booted into macOS Monterey after failed installation + MA of macOS Ventura.

Exclude it under Spotlight Privacy will help, but is needed of course.

@m4v3r1ck That sucks. Sorry to hear. If you allow the Ventura 13.6 installation to complete without MA, does Ventura work?

Cheers!

Yes already done the clean installation of 13.6, but then screwed it using post install / patching the MA application in 13.6. Will reinstall on 1TB SSD, ruling out any SSD failure as root cause, both SSD's are healthy.

Keep you posted!

This is getting real serious now. Absolutely horrifying stuff.

See what OCLP 0.6.9 + Sonoma will bring to the table.

@m4v3r1ck I've experienced that. Never found that to indicate a bad SSD. Make sure you have a wired Ethernet connection during the Ventura install and try again.

EDIT: @m4v3r1ck Also, you may want to disconnect all disks except for the one to which you are installing Ventura and do a clean install of Ventura to the single disk in your system.

So I'm still on 13.2.1 because Pages crashed on newer versions (MacBook Pro with HD4000) - can I upgrade to 13.6 safely, will Pages work?

I can try on a separate partition, maybe I'll do that, maybe I'll just stay on 13.2.1 because I absolutely need Pages. Specifically it would crash if I tried to paste an image or PDF selection into it.

Hello everyone!

I'm very happy to report back to the community, that I've managed to install and maintain macOS Ventura 13.6 using OCLP 0.6.8.

- discovered that my ISP had QOS issues: 1 Gbps / 1 Gbps => < 200 Mbps / 200 Mbps during installations that failed.
- turned off spotlight indexing for my booted macOS Monterey: mds_stores < 10 % CPU
- reformatted the 1TB SSD again
- created a new and fresh USB macOS Installer
- did not copy the Open Core Legacy Patcher (as per Mr. Macintosh video) to the USB installer
- installed and rebooted several times in macOS Ventura 13.6.

No hick ups so far.
Screenshot 2023-09-27 at 15.25.54.png

Decided to clean install the macOS, but also clean install all my applications. All user/data will be synced using Forklift. So no use of Migration Assistant during this latest installation.

My sincere gratitude goes out to all whom participated in my quest. Cheers for that gals/guys!

Special thanks to @deeveedee for reaching out so many times.

Did I hear somebody talk about macOS Sonoma 14.0...?

What was the reason not to copy the patcher to the flash drive? That allowed me to patch the graphics of my MacBook Pro 2015 without needing to download it...

Safari is unusable because even in light mode, I am not able to read anything, the text and the background shows as the same color... After running the patcher from the bootable OCLP flash drive, it showed as the default resolution (2880 x 1800 as 1440 x 900) and behaved as if Monterey and older was installed...

Just to use only the installer and therefore rule out any possible anomalies on the USB installer / during install, calling data from the USB. As I encountered serious issues that were not easily explained, troubleshooted and/or fixed, I choose to not the copy the OCLP application to the USB.

For me, it was the only way to go and execute the 7th clean installation sequence from scratch beginning to download and install the OCLP application and without the use of Migration Assistant.
