(small) Miracles can happen
Since I started running Ventura via OCLP, one thing that was a major annoyance was the grey against grey menubar. Yesterday. Reduce transparency only affects the Dock, zero effect on the menubar.
Discovered Boring Old Menubar ("bomb" - definitely not a nice acronym)

Which by some small miracle has restored the white or off white menubar from days of old, e.g. my High Sierra.
As I started to use it, one thing appeared to stand in my way, which was that it wouldn't work with a custom set wallpaper. So chose one of the solid ones, none of which I could live with, and then by fiddling with that - something I still don't understand, not sure what I did and no way to retrace my steps, out of nowhere it seemed, the desired white menubar appeared against a grey Desktop background - what I prefer.
Perhaps someone might be able to explain the following - screenshot of Wallpaper - processed_......:
EDIT: just saw that the bomb menubar icon shows
Current Wallpaper (incl.dynamic) with option to set
Solid Color, which is a hideous, over-the-top blue -- so perhaps I modified that blue, which accounts for the current grey background. Perhaps if someone else is interested in using this utility, they might be able to describe the steps they take to get to a desired Desktop background color.
