Hi @MacinMan. Is the internal SSD 128GB? In this case, you can install Ventura and use the mechanical Hard Disk for storage.Hey all, finally got Ventura set up and running from an external hard drive. I had to do a couple extra steps to work around some problems I was having, and this isn't something everyone would need to do.
What I had to do is install to the external drive using my late 2013, 13" MBP and then I moved the finished install to the iMac, set it up, and then ran the post install patches. Everything looks good. The reason I had to do it this way, is it seems like it wouldn't install on the iMac directly It was extremely slow.
Now when I want to upgrade the internal install, are there any specific instructions for Fusion Drive installs? OCLP shows the SSD, and hard drive as separate devices to install to. I'm thinking I install to the SSD, but can someone please clarify? Thanks
What makes you think it (your iMac) had DRM support running Monterey with your GCN1 M5100 dGPU?I have the iMac 2011 21.5" with i7-2600s and AMD Firepro m5100 (which is GCN 1-3 GPU).
If I upgrade to Ventura I understand that I will still have hardware acceleration (via the OCPL 0.50 patches).
But will I also still have DRM support??
I am reading through the OCPL documents that my CPU does not support AVX2.0 dyld. But there is a kext included in OCPL 0.50 called CryptexFixup.kext that supposedly fixes this issue...?
So the question is, if I update to Ventura with OCLP 0.50 patches, will I retain DRM support to be able to watch appleTV etc?
hmmm I thought DRM was what was needed to be able to play apple TV, watch netflix in safari etc. What makes you think it (your iMac) had DRM support running Monterey with your GCN1 M5100 dGPU?
currently supported for now with graphics acceleration.OCLP 0.5 nightly build detects & successfully installs Intel HD Graphics 3000, after reboot its in a bootloop.
In safe mode system boots successfully detects Intel HD Graphics 3000 512 MB but still no graphics acceleration.
Looks like work in progress, hopefully in the future devs might successfully patch Intel HD Graphics 3000.

I was able to install as well (2015 MBA) but my Private Relay says "there are settings causing issues. I had removed my VPN settings before the update and can't figure the setting at issue!Just installed on a 2015 MacBook Air and apart from more reboots during the install process all seems to be working OK so far.
No, I added on the GPU thread a link about DRM to my post about Ventura, there has been no DRM since we left Catalina. Technically it has been managed by Apple with the HD2000/HD3000 iGPU, we had to disable it.hmmm I thought DRM was what was needed to be able to play apple TV, watch netflix in safari etc.
Ok... So I did not have DRM support even in Monterey. 😅
Will I be able to watch apple TV in Ventura? 😇 (Will the VDA decoder be fully supported?)
To answer your question, I would be upgrading over Monterey (when I'm ready) The Fusion drive is 2TB. The SSD is 128 GB, and the HDD is 2 TB. So my question was since I'm going to do the upgrade with the fusion drive in tact, does it matter which device I install the open core boot loader to? Like I said, even with the Fusion drive functioning as one drive, the SSD and HDD show up separately in the open core GUI for build and install open core.Hi @MacinMan. Is the internal SSD 128GB? On the other hand, if your iMac has 32GB SSD you can't as the disk would get clogged right away.
I also have an iMac, but I replaced the HD with a 2TB SSD. It’s very simple… existing many video tutorials (look first on i-FixIt)
In the Apple SSD 128 GB of ex Fusion Drive, on the other hand, I installed Catalina
This is expected, a metal iGPU provides this functionality on all Macs except the iMacPro1,1 and MacPro7,1 - both are Xeon based systems (no iGPU) and therefore Apple implemented support (partially) using the Polaris AMD dGPU.@Ausdauersportler @madvinegar
I have DRM working on iMac16,2 (Intel Iris Pro Graphics 6200 + OCLP last release), TV app works and also Netflix and Prime Video on Safari does.
My quick answer is you used the wrong update process. Build the flash drive with the Ventura installer, proceed as before. Can anyone please help me? I do not want to end up starting over and wiping my MacBook 9,2 Mid-2012. Had been using Monterey 12.6 with no issues since it came out.
I downloaded OCLP 0.5.0 last night. Downloaded Ventura 13.0 InstallAssistant.pkg installer from MrMcIntosh website. Then ran the application. Once installed, told me to reboot. But now having errors where it shows OCB: StartImage Failed - Aborted.
It seems my computer only loads in what looks like a SafeBoot mode of what's still 12.6. I even ran post-install root patch from OCLP 0.5.0, but nothing changed. Still same error.
What do I do? Video here as well: https://www.reddit.com/r/venturapatcher/comments/ye33me
