I wouldn't.

But note this down and keep an eye out for issues related to HW/kernel.

At that point, it will be wise to update firmware as part of troubleshooting.
As part of my research yesterday (described in an earlier post), I came to understand outdated firmware is a security issue.

I was able to jump my 2013 MBA firmware quite a bit by installing Big Sur (which I had never used; I skipped it) on an external drive. Based on the instructions on page 1, I will keep that install through next year to catch any further BS security/firmware updates.

I understand that beyond the last supported OS for your particular hardware, there will be no more firmware updates despite updating the OS via OCLP, yes?

Installed Ventura on a 2012 Mac Mini last week, it runs like crap.
CPU below 10%, 16GB of RAM, no swap but slow as molasses.
Transferring new Photo's from iPhone 14 to Photos App takes about a minute for 10 photos.
Network is a Gb connection yet downloading from Apple is 10 MB Max, mostly under 10.
Apps take forever to open, for instance Activity Monitor, dat takes at least 10-20 seconds to load, even when
switching to other tabs.
Nearly new SSD, lots of space to spare, not the fastest SSD but that should not matter much.
Switching of AppleId in Settings seems to make a difference, why though is beyond my understanding, CPU speed
is under 10% so it should be fast.
Siri and Spotlight switched off, goes I have to try another (new) Admin account, see if it persists.
For what it’s worth I have a 2012 mini with 16 gigs of RAM, and Ventura is not laggy. The system runs just as well as it did with Monterey.

The only issues I have are the ones I mentioned earlier (Memoji and weather app)

And so I’m hoping switching accounts fixes it for you.

Has anybody tested one or two Apple 27" Thunderbolt screens on an OCLP 0.5.1 patched MacBook Pro 2016 (MBP 13,3)?
Same set-up seems OK on MacBook Air 2017 (MBA 7,2).

Installed Ventura under latest oclp version on my late 2013 MBP 15’’ 2.0 Ghz i7, integrated graphics only.

The screen is listed as ‘unknown’ 47 inch with an unworkable resolution of 2880 x 14.. something.

Any clue what’s wrong? Thanks

Macmini7,1 windowserver crashed around after running 20+ hours.

Was running OCLP 0.5.0 and installed Ventura a day before, crashed yesterday early morning.
Upgraded to OCLP 0.5.1, patched again, tested on USB boot then SSD EFI, and crashed today early morning.
Both crashes are from windowserver no response, and the Mac mini is freeze like a stone.

This Mac mini (16GB RAM, 512GB SSD, on Ethernet no Wifi, mainly as TM backup and file server with external RAID 1) has been serving me well for the past 8 years with no crash, so I don’t think it is hardware broken yet.

I stopped all the background tasks today (including iStats which I suspect), and will report how it goes.

Not sure if anyone has seen this issue.

2012 mini, OCLP 0.5.1 Ventura 13.0, an external USB3.0 hard disk is going nuts with "Disk Not Ejected Properly" error.

Have unplugged it from mini, until I can figure out what is wrong.

Edit: NVM. Figured out what could have gone wrong and have fixed it.

Just a side note on long-term usability -
I own a high end 24*36 mm2 slide scanner Nikon Super Coolscan 5000 ED with automatic feeder SF210 which I still use from time to time. Bought it 2005. Not produced anymore since 2010 but good used scanners still cost some 2000 Euro.

I used it with a number of Mac models and OS X / macOSs, now MBP16,1 with Ventura. As scanner software I have always used VueScan which has the drivers for many scanners included so doesn't depend on OS support in this respect.

Just ran SilentKnight... It's telling me I need to update my EFI. Given everything seems to be a-ok under 0.5.1, should I bother?

You would need a bootable external disk or usb key with Catalina 10.15.7 on it to bring the firmware up to date on your iMac13,2

Whether you should 'bother' or not is entirely up to you.

Installed Ventura on my early 2015 MacBook Air last night, played with it for about an hour or two and it seems to work perfect like Monterey which was supported did, however noticed a strange thing..... when I close the lid, it doesn't seem to put the laptop completely asleep..... maybe it is because it is doing something "behind the scenes" but not sure. Maybe it will act normal and go to sleep when I have completed my 4 hours that I am willing to put into my 8 hour salaried work day. Will have to see then, otherwise why do it not sleep completely?
It appears that I have fixed the strange not going completely to sleep by running the post install patches, it was showing display as unknown, and saw another post about having to run post install patches to correct that.... just ran the post install patches, which the only one was for the display..... and now it appears to actually go to sleep. on the early 2015 MacBook Air it has the cool lit up Apple logo, and before the post install patches, I would close the lid and the Apple would stay lit, how I knew it wasn't going to sleep properly. after running the post install patch, I close the lid and the Apple is not lit.... must have had something to do with not knowing what display it had. Hopefully that fixed it's sleeping issue, since I prefer to just close the lid when I am done using it instead of having to completely shut it off. Actually since doing the post install patch, it seems to scroll better and seems actually faster for some reason. I thought Ventura was awesome before doing the post install patch, but now it seems just as good if not better than Monterey which was the last official version of macOS for it. You all rock, doing what you do to keep me being able to play with the latest and greatest....

Been scrolling through the forums but haven't seen anyone with the same issue. I've OTA upgraded my MacBookPro13,2 from 12.6.1 to 13.0 and now Touch ID options are completely gone. My Apple Watch still unlocks fine tho is anyone facing same issue? Thanks

Okay, final experiment. Get another USB device and format it using APFS and try again :)
Feels like it's USB job and not a file system issue. As I've just noticed my USB-plugged keyboard periodically stops to enter symbols. When I switch it to Bluetooth mode - nothing like that.

updated to oclp 5.1 on Ventura and does work great feels alot of improvements going on went ahead and updated to 13.1 beta again running very well . Safari still takes abit longer to open than other apps yet I suppose a solution is setting it to open on log in which sort of works amazing freeform app is limited to newer Macs can’t be that resource heavy ? Yet that’s Apple for you but would be something I think I will use.
