Hat off to OCLP developers. OTA updated my iMac 21.5 14,1 late 2013 Monterey 12.6.1 to Ventura with OCLP 0.5.1 without any issues, checked all functions are working as normal.
Again, thank you for your support...

Ventura runs great on 2013 MacBookAir6,2. So I went ahead and installed it on 2012 Macmini6,1.

Arrgh, not so good on the mini (installed over OCLP Big Sur via USB stick).

1. It went nuts on ext. 1TB disk. Won't stay mounted, corrupted the APFS dir.
Basically, messing with ext. APFS disk(USB3.0). Still haven't figured out way around it. So time machine (ext. APFS disk) is OFF for now.

2. Hard crash after some hours. Others have reported same issue and it might be related to having 2nd disk (I have added 1TB SSD, apart from the factory 500GB HDD).

Could be related to sleep/wake, so have installed Amphetamine and set it ON indefinitely (I run mini as a server anyway). So far, not crashing anymore.

Have no idea if above issues are related to Ventura or OCLP. Will push on, as these are not dealbreakers.

Will see if new versions of Ventura or OCLP fix them.

Edit: might try a clean install(from scratch) at some point in future.

OCLP Devs, for now, seem to think that mediaanalysisd process, which kicks in when the machine is idle, and churns through your Apple photos library identifying faces, is what’s causing these overnight/idle system kernel panics. Believe they’re trying to resolve it. Amphetamine is likely a work around as it fools the machine into thinking something is happening/system is active, and so the aforementioned process never starts up as the machine never thinks it’s “idle”.

So far, so good on Mac mini 2012 for almost 4 hours.

I suggest to back up your data and clean install from scratch. Those weird errors should be resolved.
Let OCLP auto pick the SMBIOS.

AirPlay and iMac 14.2 fixed and working
I just tried installing OCLP 0.5.2 Night Build and using SMBIOS Minimal Spoof and Ventura 13.0's AirPlay works now!

So, the “Mirroring Screen” from iPhone to Mac works and also the Chromecast playback from iPhone to Mac, of YouTube videos, works. Hurray!

I invite the Developers to introduce appropriate changes in OCLP standard settings so that it's not necessary to spoof SMBIOS for this purpose, so that AirPlay will work immediately even for newbies.

[Note: This post of mine is useful also to update my previous replies for @sl0wmotion and @digitalcan]
Can i use OCLP 0.5.1 and SMBIOS Setting to use airplay receiver ? Or Is there a way to build OCLP 0.5.2 Nightly Build. I could not find a tutorial for compiling that.

Mine is macMini7,1 and did experience similar issue as yours. I used Amphetamine to keep the server awake for over 3 days now and no more crash. Guess it has to be some sort of power management sleep/awake issues between Ventura and our mac mini.

Sorry in advance if anyone else has said this;

Anyone experiencing crashes with apps when mac has been woke from sleep. for example, in Safari, if I use keyboard commands for new tab or to access the address bar.

Also is anyone else having problems with YouTube, Netflix, IG, etc NOT playing video (erroring out) in Safari?

I, along with a few others, seem to be having this issue. Restarting Safari does not fix it. Rebooting does, most of the time, but then the issue seems to come back—I can’t seem to spot a pattern to it.
Yep, I started to notice the freezing problem after the machine is left idle for around 6 to 8 hours. The login screen will be completely frozen and I won’t be able to input my password. The mouse is in the Beachball animation, and strangely enough I can still move the mouse, but nothing else responds,

Each time this happens, I am forced to hold down the power button to reboot the machine.

As far as Safari and Netflix, no issues there watched a few shows last night in fact.

I think you can use 0.5.1 too. The Night Build versions are in the GitHub Dortania' OpenCore Legacy Patcher Web-page. You have to scroll down the page and click on the link contained in the paragraph "Running from source".
But if you're not a very experienced MacUser, you might want to wait for the Developers to further improve OCLP.

I take advantage of the opportunity, to DISCOURAGE the numerous Users who make attempts with the OCLP settings without having a solid computer base.
I also suggest to Nerds like me (starting with myself ...) to stop entering detailed information, in MacRumors, Discord or other places, about experiments they have conducted trying to solve various problems on their own.

NOTE: I am not arrogating this proposal and I am not arrogant... But in Discord OCLP Paradise / ventura-development I have been invited to keep the aforementioned behavior by an advanced Developer. Otherwise, says the Developer, the OCLP's Developers may be forced to block all settings extra in the app.
So I apologized and decided to indulge and respect the invitation of this very kind Developer who I consider an important member of the Staff of the OCLP Developer, he knows what he says and that if he provided this suggestion he did it for the good of the Community and for one peaceful development of the OCLP.

I recommend you report this in the OPCL Discord to the devs. It’s the only way it will be addressed in the future.

It's slept all night and waking-up fine.
I confirm that the ventura itself works well. I just got home from work. The computer slept for 17 hours. Wakes up. Works stably.
Someone freezes, then they have different reasons - probably the RAM is of poor quality. Or the power supply is not working properly. I had a problem - my computer often freezes. Changed RAM - problem solved!

I've had one small (and weird) issue in 9 days. I'm running release Ventura on a Late 2012 iMac (13,2) via OCLP 0.5.1.

I downloaded the Xcode 14.1 release. This comes in an XIP file format and I double-clicked the XIP to extract the Xcode app. This took AGES to verify the XIP file and even longer to extract the file - abnormally long. As soon as the file was extracted the Xcode app appeared in the finder. Pretty much instantly my machine locked up hard. No pointer, no menu, no dock, and no alt-tab. 🤷🏻‍♀️ . I had to long press the power button to force a hard reboot.

This may have nothing to do with OCLP but I thought I should mention it. Other than that, everything has been flawless.

I’ve been playing around with Ventura on a mid 2012, 13” MBP and while the machine is definitely showing its age it’s working surprisingly well! 16GB RAM, 500GB SSD installed.

I see @binarysmurf just mentioned Xcode. I’m actually installing that right now to see how it runs here.

I recommend the h264ify extension for those still using these old machines and want to use YouTube. It drastically helps with system resources.

I’ve long predicted that these 13”, mid 2012 models will likely continue to work via these patchers until the Apple finally drops Intel support because of metal.

From Lion all the way to Ventura! 12 macOS releases!

Creating the installer without OCLP, care to tell how 🙏🏼.

Install OCLP to main disk not usb? So you boot normally without a usb? Did you install the efi to the main disk also?

Lastly, are you saying you did the whole install without an external drive?

Pardon my many questions 😇

i’m sorry for writing what is going to look like a little bit of a snarky post. But as a community, we need to not encourage what just happened over the last 10 pages right now with @veed24

All of the basic questions that this person is asking over like 10 pages indicates that they have clearly NOT READ the OCLP website’s basic steps carefully.

what is worse— all of the advice that this person is receiving is missing another basic point. This person has a 2012 Mac that has not had Catalina installed on it, it has not received all of the Catalina security updates, it does not have firmware that is up-to-date. So all of the advice that this person is receiving is missing the two basic problems:

1) The user has not read the OCLP website carefully and is monopolizing this thread over about 10 pages!!! Not good!

2) The user has a 2012 Mac that does not have up-to-date firmware, that has not had Catalina installed on it, that has not had the latest security updates. So the user is not having a good experience with OCLP, as a result.

The user needs to A) read all of the docs on the OCLP website carefully and B) install Catalina FIRST and run all of the security updates before putting OCLP on the system. Then everything should work.

it’s unbelievable that 10 pages of posts have gone by with this person monopolizing the thread, the basic problem hasn’t been diagnosed, and no one is pointing this person to the OCLP website to first just DO YOUR HOMEWORK! This public forum isn‘t your personal IT help desk!

sorry just had to get that out!

I have a twin to your iMac 13,2 (late 2012 27", 1TB Fusion HDD) running OS Ventura 13.1 beta1
and using OCLP 0.5.2n

I just downloaded Xcode 14,1 and, once downloaded, the whole process of verification, and full installation took about 9 minutes. I do not have any issues with launching the program nor entering data. It is possible that the file was somehow corrupted during download(?)

From Lion all the way to Ventura! 12 macOS releases!

Snap! Exact same config here (Mid-2012 13" MBP maxed out with 16Gb RAM and 525Gb SSD) and I installed Ventura last night via OCLP.

This is the third unsupported version of macOS that I've run on this machine and early impressions are excellent - it runs smoothly, and seems as solid as if it were natively supported. It's still early days of course, but it "feels" better than either Big Sur or Catalina did at this stage - maybe I'm just getting more adept at the patching process!

I'm with you; I get the feeling that OCLP will continue 'keep the dream alive' for us for as long as Apple continue to release Intel binaries of future macOS versions. Not for the first time, I'm delighted with my purchasing decision all those years ago - admittedly this machine was a bit of a dog in its default configuration, but maxing the RAM and adding an SSD really brought it to life and it's perhaps my favourite Mac that I've ever owned.

What's more, it also happens to be my *main* Mac! It runs more than well enough for my needs and I have no intention of replacing it anytime in the foreseeable future. Hopefully I can continue to keep it 'current' with macOS, so that the transition to a new Apple Silicon machine feels seamless when the time comes...
