I have a twin to your iMac 13,2 (late 2012 27", 1TB Fusion HDD) running OS Ventura 13.1 beta1
and using OCLP 0.5.2n

I just downloaded Xcode 14,1 and, once downloaded, the whole process of verification, and full installation took about 9 minutes. I do not have any issues with launching the program nor entering data. It is possible that the file was somehow corrupted during download(?)

Thanks for this! I've had no issues building iOS or macOS apps via Xcode, so it's obviously just that particular install. The hard crash worried me a little, but everything has been stable ever since.

I have a specific question for the OCLP developers about configuring post install patch:

How can I force a post install patch for a specific hardware what is not built in?

To be precise: I can't safe boot a Mac Pro 5,1 - it panics. So with a Tahiti GPU built in I can not boot the machine in Ventura.

If I swap the GPU I can boot, but I can not do a post install patch for the Tahiti drivers as it does not give the option, I built OCLP with the Tahiti GPU built in via Monterey.

I missed that Apple has removed the last vestiges of Firewire CoreAudio support from Ventura. Looks like I'm going to have to downgrade, I can't imagine that there is enough of a need that anyone would look at fixing this!

Yep, I started to notice the freezing problem after the machine is left idle for around 6 to 8 hours. The login screen will be completely frozen and I won’t be able to input my password. The mouse is in the Beachball animation, and strangely enough I can still move the mouse, but nothing else responds,

Each time this happens, I am forced to hold down the power button to reboot the machine.

As far as Safari and Netflix, no issues there watched a few shows last night in fact.
After reading arsTechnical review of macOS Ventura then I realized that I can kick out the beachball from the Systems Settings

i’m sorry for writing what is going to look like a little bit of a snarky post. But as a community, we need to not encourage what just happened over the last 10 pages right now with @veed24

All of the basic questions that this person is asking over like 10 pages indicates that they have clearly NOT READ the OCLP website’s basic steps carefully.

what is worse— all of the advice that this person is receiving is missing another basic point. This person has a 2012 Mac that has not had Catalina installed on it, it has not received all of the Catalina security updates, it does not have firmware that is up-to-date. So all of the advice that this person is receiving is missing the two basic problems:

1) The user has not read the OCLP website carefully and is monopolizing this thread over about 10 pages!!! Not good!

2) The user has a 2012 Mac that does not have up-to-date firmware, that has not had Catalina installed on it, that has not had the latest security updates. So the user is not having a good experience with OCLP, as a result.

The user needs to A) read all of the docs on the OCLP website carefully and B) install Catalina FIRST and run all of the security updates before putting OCLP on the system. Then everything should work.

it’s unbelievable that 10 pages of posts have gone by with this person monopolizing the thread, the basic problem hasn’t been diagnosed, and no one is pointing this person to the OCLP website to first just DO YOUR HOMEWORK! This public forum isn‘t your personal IT help desk!

sorry just had to get that out!

Since my Mac mini system volume is screwed and as advised by
@perez987 that I can clean install Ventura from scratch. There is no need to install Catalina. I took the plunge to install as follows:
  1. Run OCLP v0.5.1
  2. Build open core with macmini6,2
  3. Install it into usb
  4. Boot Mac mini
  5. Press Alt key after boot chime
  6. Select "Install macOS Ventura" from usb
  7. Erase System Volume with APFS
  8. Post Install Root Patch
  9. Click Install Root Patch to start patch
  10. Press enter for the rest of the prompt
  11. Build open core with macmini6,2
  12. Install it into ssd
I encountered below error and bypass it by rebooting and resetting PRAM

Hi. I have a Mid-2010 MBP. The OCLP page says that "Ventura support in development". So I'll be able to install Ventura on my old MBP later this year? Thanks.
Hi. Need help. Any piece of advice is appreciated.

Ventura runs great on 2013 MacBookAir6,2. So I went ahead and installed it on 2012 Macmini6,1.

Arrgh, not so good on the mini (installed over OCLP Big Sur via USB stick).

1. It went nuts on ext. 1TB disk. Won't stay mounted, corrupted the APFS dir.
Basically, messing with ext. APFS disk(USB3.0). Still haven't figured out way around it. So time machine (ext. APFS disk) is OFF for now.

2. Hard crash after some hours. Others have reported same issue and it might be related to having 2nd disk (I have added 1TB SSD, apart from the factory 500GB HDD).

Could be related to sleep/wake, so have installed Amphetamine and set it ON indefinitely (I run mini as a server anyway). So far, not crashing anymore.

Have no idea if above issues are related to Ventura or OCLP. Will push on, as these are not dealbreakers.

Will see if new versions of Ventura or OCLP fix them.

Edit: might try a clean install(from scratch) at some point in future.

I'm having similar problems.
Even in my 2012 Macmini 6,1 there are 2 disk and I'm having this problems:
1) Finder and Spotlight Search doesn't work;
2) If I go to (Siri and) Spotlight settings and try to open Spotlight Privacy setting, it freezes
3) Copying files is really slow.

I thought that a clean install would have fix this problem, but nothing...! They are still there...
The strange think is that if i boot in safe mode (pressing shift at boot) it seems all ok, apart that the Mac is slow because it doesn't run the OpenCore GPU (and other?) patch.

So I think that there is something in OpenCore or OpenCore Settings that need to be fixed.

I think you can use 0.5.1 too. The Night Build versions are in the GitHub Dortania' OpenCore Legacy Patcher Web-page. You have to scroll down the page and click on the link contained in the paragraph "Running from source".
But if you're not a very experienced MacUser, you might want to wait for the Developers to further improve OCLP.

I take advantage of the opportunity, to DISCOURAGE the numerous Users who make attempts with the OCLP settings without having a solid computer base.
I also suggest to Nerds like me (starting with myself ...) to stop entering detailed information, in MacRumors, Discord or other places, about experiments they have conducted trying to solve various problems on their own.

NOTE: I am not arrogating this proposal and I am not arrogant... But in Discord OCLP Paradise / ventura-development I have been invited to keep the aforementioned behavior by an advanced Developer. Otherwise, says the Developer, the OCLP's Developers may be forced to block all settings extra in the app.
So I apologized and decided to indulge and respect the invitation of this very kind Developer who I consider an important member of the Staff of the OCLP Developer, he knows what he says and that if he provided this suggestion he did it for the good of the Community and for one peaceful development of the OCLP.
I can confirm that with 0.5.1 your’s suggestef settings works for airplay receiver. Thank you

I have a Macmini6,2, which is the same machine but with an i7, and haven't experienced any of those problems funnily enough. I only have a single internal SSD but use a number of external drives for photo storage (HFS+ over USB3). My system even analyzes photos without any issus as far as I can tell, which appears to be the main suspect in why some people experience crashes when the computer idles.

You got that error because you booted into the wrong EFI and/or partition. When you repotted you were lucky to reboot into the right EFI/Partition. Suggest is to hold down Option/Alt every time the system boots and then selecting the correct EFI (ON USB almost/kind of looking stick) AND then selecting MacOS Install or the Ventura-logoed-drive.

Thanks for this, but unfortunately it doesn't help for me. I've had sleep completely disabled ever since Monterey, because for some reason, the SDCard reader on my Mini stops working after waking the machine from sleep.

Since I never found a true solution to that issue, my workaround has been to disable sleep entirely to keep the sdcard reader alive.

With SMBIOS spoofing set to minimal, do you use a higher model to specify the model? In the case of a 10,1 would you spoof it higher than that model?

I used Terminal to disable Spotlight indexing and my problem stopped... so i'm even more sure that the problem it's spotlight, or at least spotlight in a Macmini with 2 hard disk... (mine it's i7 too).

Part of icons in Launchpad got disappeared. Something with video card driver, I guess. Never seen anything like this on Monterey.

Search for my post on here on 10/27 or 10/28 in the afternoon. You need to hold, Alt, I believe and keep selecting the EFI, and then selecting “Mac Install”.
Thx, did that all the time.
Shutting down completely btw. the booting attempts as per instructions on the oclp site did the trick. Ventura installed like a charm.

I’m on a MacBook Air (Mid-2012) with OCLP’s latest. I’ve tried everything I can think of to get around this. Nothing seems to work. Standard OCLP SMBIOS settings, custom, PRAM reset, reinstalled Catalina and updated firmware…

Nothing gets me around this stupid message.

Reload again. Go through the installation again. From the third or fourth time it should pass. Better yet, turn on WIFI in the installation error. Reload again.

Snap! Exact same config here (Mid-2012 13" MBP maxed out with 16Gb RAM and 525Gb SSD) and I installed Ventura last night via OCLP.

This is the third unsupported version of macOS that I've run on this machine and early impressions are excellent - it runs smoothly, and seems as solid as if it were natively supported. It's still early days of course, but it "feels" better than either Big Sur or Catalina did at this stage - maybe I'm just getting more adept at the patching process!

I'm with you; I get the feeling that OCLP will continue 'keep the dream alive' for us for as long as Apple continue to release Intel binaries of future macOS versions. Not for the first time, I'm delighted with my purchasing decision all those years ago - admittedly this machine was a bit of a dog in its default configuration, but maxing the RAM and adding an SSD really brought it to life and it's perhaps my favourite Mac that I've ever owned.

What's more, it also happens to be my *main* Mac! It runs more than well enough for my needs and I have no intention of replacing it anytime in the foreseeable future. Hopefully I can continue to keep it 'current' with macOS, so that the transition to a new Apple Silicon machine feels seamless when the time comes...
It’s the best MacBook Apple ever released. Sold for 4 years so there are tons of them out there. It’s a shame Apple has dropped RAID 0 support for installations, but one can explore other options via Linux/windows in a few years once the Intel era is over for Apple.

Try again, from scratch if you must. Make sure you are offline to ensure a smooth, fresh install.

Read the post immediately above yours. I explain how to get around this problem. In short, restart, hold option/alt each time the computer restarts during the upgrade, and then pick the USB-Stick-looking thing with EFI on it, and then either "MacOS Install" or the drive with Ventura logo.
