Anyone know how to switch between Safari profiles after creating them in settings? I can’t find it anywhere, only a “open new window in x profile” option in the menu bar
The feature seems very buggy right now (actually the only bug/issue I’ve encountered… so far). The profile selection button seems to frequently not appear in the Safari toolbar. Sometimes it will come back after a quit and reopen, then randomly disappear again. A user on another thread even had the button bring up completely unrelated options when clicking on it. Without the button there doesn’t seem to be any other way of switching profiles that I have found.

Vertical tabs in Safari still don't stay expanded when reopening the app unfortunately.

Why does Apple provide a "IPSW" file for macOS on the developer platform? I downloaded it, expecting an image I can just install on my external ssd but nope. What do I do with an IPSW file for macOS? I am fully aware that it exists for iPadOS and iOS but macOS? that seems new and what to do with it

ipsw files for mac are for reviving or restoring an apple silicon mac. They are not really meant for installation generally.

Apple have a page on how to use them here: https://support.apple.com/en-gb/guide/apple-configurator-mac/apdd5f3c75ad/mac

The usual and quickest way is an OTA upgrade.

But sometimes you may need a clean install in which case it is better to use the full installer.

I usually do the OTA way because it is quicker. But I also download the ipsw files and full installers and store them on an external drive. I also make a bootable usb with the full installer.

Here is my page on how to make the bootable usb installer for Sonoma: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/sonoma-bootable-usb.2391748/

Where I can found this nice wallpaper from keynote? It's not in wallpaper even screensavers.

Beware that you cannot select a disk to install this on.

Networking to my other Macs isn't working. I can see the shares but trying to access them I just get spinning cursor which locks up the Finder. However, I can see the shares from the Mac Studio running macOS 14 on the other Macs.

On startup, I keep getting a message that system events has been added as a background item. Restarting does not fix it.

How do i install without having a developer account?
Once I download the file the installation is not working, something with "gatekeeper" yada yada

You really can't select another volume to install it on? Are you just installing the beta as your main OS on that machine then?
Yes, that is correct.

Using System Settings to update, no options was provided to select the install destination. It installed over Macintosh HD and was not even given the choice to select external SSD. My internal drive was a single volume, which is where it was installed.

I backed up using TimeMachine prior to the update. Created another partition and installed macOS 13 in new partition.

That was not my main Mac, so not a big issue for me.

Just in case anyone cares. (I can't update first post)

Do you recommend to install Beta 1 on main drive? Is it stable? I have MacBook Pro M1 Pro with 16 GB Ram.
i have it installed on my main device (mbp 16" with m1 pro), and i had zero issues so far.

i also had the wifi issue. no internet connectivity. it turned out that it was caused by LittleSnitch, so i just uninstalled it and then my internet started working again.

Don't do it just yet. after a few restarts, I started experiencing boot-loops. the moment kbd backlight and TrueTone kick in, the whole computer freezes, and restarts. It boots eventually, but it can boot-loop for hours.

I would not. My M1 MacBook Air is not really good when using Pro-Apps. Its 8 GB, maybe the 16 would make a difference, but for now I would make a separate volume.

the moving backgrounds work only after waking up from sleep and for about 2 seconds after logging in, then it stops moving
