BCM94360CD Bluetooth finally working for me with OCLP 1.2.0 on my cMP 4,1>5,1. Could not be happier!

BTW: I updated from Monterey 12.6.8 to Sonoma 14.1 using the OCLP 1.1.0 created USB stick, then updated OCLP to 1.2.0 and applied the updated patches.

Haven't tested any software so working through that now.

Some more feedback. OCLP 1.2.0 offered to do the root patches and I accepted. Well, it didn't work out so well. There was no Link to Mac or iPad menu under Displays, Advanced. I had to undo the root patches, restart (no need to go into Safe Mode - an improvement), redo the root patch but making sure I spoofed to MBP15,1, restart, and lo and behold, Continuity was back. Before the install of the root patches, I had no WiFi. After, everything is fine - so far.

Hey all, I was curious, did Open Core 1.2.0 officially fix 3D acceleration in VMWare? I put Ventura 13.6.1 on my MBP 11,1 as an upgrade to Monterey after upgrading to OCLP 1.2.0, installed VMWare Fusion 13.5 and copied my Linux Mint VM from the iMac and it was working with 3D enabled both in the VM settings and Cinnamon session settings within the VM. I went back to Monterey on the iMac because I needed things to just work, but if OCLP has fixed this with Ventura, I might be more willing to upgrade the iMac to at least Ventura.

Did you happen to notice any difference in the list of post-install patches to be applied when you spoofed MBP15,1? I hadn't considered that spoofing would change OCLP's post-install patches (I've only seen them to be auto-detected by IOName). Not important - just curious.

Also, I applied OCLP 1.2.0 (Release) patches to my MBP6,2 running Sonoma 14.2Beta (23C5030f). The patching was uneventful given that I had just applied post-install patches with 1.2.0n. Pleased to see that OCLP 1.2.0 is using Open Core 0.9.6.

My system specs:
  • SMBIOS MBP6,2 (non-metal Nvidia Tesla)
  • Sonoma 14.2 Beta (23C5030f)
  • Post-install patches: OCLP 1.2.0 (Release)
  • OC EFI: OC 0.9.6, AMFI and Library Validation fully enabled, RestrictEvents = Partial

Suggestion - Start a 'VM on Unsupported Macs thread' to better focus questions and interests in a common location.

No, I didn't pay any attention; but I will do so next time.

Take this observation with a few grains of salt: based on my own very limited sample size of one, I think that generating my MBP6,2 EFI with RestrictEvents = Partial has reduced fan activity. Thank you, @macpro_mid2014 for making me aware of the suggestion and thank you to the Devs who made the suggestion.

I can't accurately measure battery life (and thus power consumption) because my battery is near death and requires AC power, so I can't confirm with certainty that this OC EFI change has significantly reduced power consumption. If you are experiencing increased fan activity and/or reduced battery life with Sonoma and you can live without SideCar/AirPlay/UniversalControl, you may want to test an OC EFI (OCLP > Build and Install Open Core) with RestrictEvents = Partial.

EDIT: OCLP's RestrictEvents = Partial adds RestrictEvents.kext boot-arg -disable_sidecar_mac

what's the point, VMware is a mac app and people have been keeping tabs on it's functionality just like any other mac app under open core.
VM is a niche and borders on OT. VMware is not the only VM. Thought the suggestion would be of benefit with your special interests. šŸ˜‰

I understand. I just wasn't sure initially if it was specific enough like switching to Linux would be. I found a good Linux on Mac thread here on Macrumors that gave me suggestions if I wanted to just repurpose my iMac completely. So that's also a consideration, especially if OCLP proves to be a non "it just works" solution for my needs.

Because the iMac is my main computer right now, my just works option for now is running Monterey as the host until support runs out and then re-evaluating after that. The MBP isn't worth much to me as a main computer anymore just because how it's aged, but is a good test computer, so that one I can afford some instability with while testing.

Managed to Install Sonoma 14.1 on my iMac11,3 and patched it with OCLP 1.2. For testing purposes, I installed Logic Pro 10.8 and noticed that the Track Locator which is pretty much the most important thing in a DAW to move the "playhead" around in the timeline is missing. :D

Successful upgrade to OCLP 1.3.0n

After testing 1.2.0 and now a little 1.3.0, I can confirm that my external monitor is not the cause for my login / black screen errors. Only other change I made was to disable password on lock screen. Auto login is still disabled.

From time to time, I do still get this one error. It doesn't appear to wreak havoc on anything so I just continue to force quit.

Do you have the stock old AMD dGPU installed?
Just in case: Does this work on any other Mac you own with Sonoma using a metal dGPU?

Hi All,

Hope you can help. I'm running Mac OS Sonoma 14.1 via OpenCore Legacy Patcher (OCLP) 1.2.0 on my iMac A1419 15,1 Retina 5k (Late 2014). Itā€™s a fresh install and Iā€™ve ran the OCLP post install patches, however itā€™s very laggy, pictures are very slow to navigate around, Mac Mail email reply screen takes ages to load, Google Street view is very slow. Itā€™s very capable iMac and little lost.

Iā€™ve used OCLP for years with previous Mac OS never any issues, is it just this iMac cannot now handle Sonoma or there fix possibly, my device spec is below.

Thanks

DEVICE: iMac A1419 15,1 Retina 5k (Late 2014) - 27inch - i7 4.0GHz - 32GB 1600Mhz DDR3
GPU: AMD Radeon R9 M295X 4GB
OSX: Sonoma 14.1 via OpenCore Legacy Patcher (OCLP) 1.2.0

I have the same 15,1 iMac except it has the i5 and the lower spec AMD R9 M290X 2GB GPU and it has no slowdown issues, and is quite usable. What is the start up disk? SSD, HDD, or Fusion?
Without any more info, that sounds like the root patches are not installed. Is the OCLP app in the /Library/Application Support/Dortania folder as it should be? Alias in the Applications folder?
You can install Sonoma to an external USB SSD drive and boot from there to check the speed. It will be a touch slower than the internal SSD, especially on boot, but not much in real life usage. If that is the case, then perhaps you have a hardware issue with the internal drive?

OCLP v.1.3.0n is currently identical to v.1.2.0 except for the title. šŸ§

It has an ATI Radeon HD 5670 (512 MB). This is the only real Mac I own. The rest are all Hackintoshes. The app seems to work fine, so it's really weird that the locator is the only thing that's missing. Maybe it's rendered differently since it's always moving during playback.
