Lads, this might be a little bit off topic or better pretty sure it is, but did anyone of you ever tried to use a USB C power adapter 96W or 35W with a USB C to MagSafe adapter for one of your 2012 MacBook Pros?

It’s my understanding it adjusts the power accordingly to what the MBP needs.

My power adapter died and I thought I could upgrade to one of the newer ones. Thoughts?
You mean like this? I never thought of that, I might give it a "go" as a back up for when I travel---lists for 2013-2015 Macbook Pro:

Apple released macOS Sonoma 14.4 (23E214)
Don't tempt me... :) 14.3.1 and removing Al Dente is running really good and about as close as native Monterrey as I can get....everything is snappy, wakes from sleep quickly, flies through all apps and Safari sites Well, it's only been a week but so far I'm super happy with the results.

Thanks for the heads up----

Interesting, GB6 Metal was never able to complete on the Iris Pro 5200 on 1.3 (M370X could complete), it just completed on 1.4.

The root patches from OCLP 1.4.0 (release version) broke my WiFi (chip: BCM94360CD) completely. Patched again, reset NVRAM, nothing. I couldn't activate the module in System Preferences at all (switch grayed out), so forgetting networks was not an option. Reinstalled and patched with OCLP 1.4.0 nightly from Feb. 20th and WiFi is back again.

Anyone else affected?

Here's something else: at first my WiFi could not connected, but it was resolved as advised: 'forgot' the known network, then reconnected, entered the password, and it seemed stable and well remembered again.

So after an upgrade to MacOS 14.4, have your correct password for WiFi at hand and **after applying the patches**, click on "Settings>Network>Forget Network"

And authorize WiFi again.

EDIT NEXT DAY 🙃 :
-This bug is solved with the new OCLP update to 1.4.>1<

WARNING 2: If upgrading to macOS 14.4, you MUST install OCLP 1.4.0 beforehand.

A lot of hardware, including Metal GPUs, WiFi cards, T1 chipsets, etc have new patches made for macOS 14.4. We highly recommend installing OCLP 1.4.0 beforehand to ensure a smooth update.

WARNING 3: Upgrading to 14.4 may break Auto Joining Networks

To restore Auto-Join support, forget the network and re-add it.

With the release of OpenCore Legacy Patcher v1.4.0, this build is primarily targeted for macOS 14.4 and all Macs to ensure proper functionality.
We hope everyone enjoys the new release!

As to be expected, macOS Sonoma support is still in active development. This is a community-driven project, and as such we ask users to keep expectations in check and use older OSes if you encounter issues that affect you.

macOS 14.4 (23E214) with KDK_14.4_23E5211a.pkg OTA update works like a charm with OCLP 1.4.0 release on MP5,1 | RX580 | 990 Pro NVMe 😍 (and MacMini's, iMacs and MBP's 11,X 12,X also OTA from 14.3.1 to 14.4 all without problems, except MacBookAir6,1 no internal keyboard and mouse after login! Works with externel keyboard and mouse just fyi)

Thank you for relaying the message from Discord. It would be nice if I can see the message myself on Discord without verifying my phone number with them. Even read-only would be great. I guess that's why we have reddit and macrumors.

I updated my MBP Mid 2012 9,1 to 14.4. Seems ok so far. I did experience the hang during the update that required booting into safe mode to finish the update and also install the patches from OCLP. I also experienced the OCLP app getting corrupted so I had to download again in safe mode to run the patches.

A further thing to note, File Vault updated my recovery key and displayed the new one with a message to record it and store in a safe place. I'm guessing that is a 14.4 thing and nothing to do with OCLP, but IDK.

Probably the least smooth update so far, but none of these issues were new to me so no big panic. :)

And I did update to 1.4.0 release before the update, EFI and Patches.

I updated my MBP Mid 2012 9,1 to 14.4. Seems ok so far.
Been waiting for a success report for mbp9,1. Hmnn safe mode reboot and re-patch. Same hiccup as last update I think.

Will proceed shortly. Think might do it from USB installer instead of OTA.

Downloading 14.4 now and will prep the USB installer.

Love it💯! 👍🏻

  1. As always FIRST Update OCLP
  2. Then install to disk and then incl. Post install
  3. Update to macOS 14.4 OTA
  4. Install again Post installs
  5. Wifi - Settings-Wifi forget my network and reconnect for stable Self-connection

OMG, continuity camera finally working on MacBook Pro 2014 13' OP 1.4.0 macOS 14.3.1
Wow! I wouldn't have expected it. Well done OCLP team!👊🏻

Perhaps the two issues in the Photos app will also be fixed in the future. 🙏🏻

Since upgrading to 14.3.1 on a mid 2012 MBP, it hasn't been going to sleep when lid is closed? Battery drains to zero overnight? Anyone else having this?

I don't know if it's OCLP specific or because my laptop is old and peculiar. Or because of one of the things I have installed with extensions.
Same here. It behaves normally when I boot into Catalina, but sleep problems and rapid battery drain occur under Sonoma. (MBP9,2)

Updated to 1.4.1 in the meantime. The difference this time: A KDK package was pulled as a download when applying the root patches. WiFi works now, all good.

Thanks, devs! 👍
