Hello. Maybe start here: https://dortania.github.io/OpenCore-Legacy-Patcher/WINDOWS.html
has worked for me. I am now doing triple boot with Sonoma 14.4, Win 11 and Ubuntu which also works well.
thanks houser for your reply!!

- that's exactly the thread i was following to install windows 11 ... and i'm not really aware of anything i didn't follow as described. i also have tried both installation methods - Microsoft Method - and - DISM Deployment Method - and the bluescreens appeard at around the same moment of the whole installation process - i suppose they occurred at the final steps, just short before getting to the final windows customization dialogs ... but that's just my impression

perhaps i just need to give the whole thing some rest and start again from the beginning.

or some other helpful recommendations posted here will bring me further ...

FWIW, my Apple Watch Ultra (10.4 21T216) unlocks my 2012 MacBook Pro 15" Core i7 2.3 Retina (i7-3615QM); MacBookPro10,1 (BCM94360CSAX); macOS Sonoma 14.4 (2E214) using dortania/Opencore-Legacy-Patcher 1.4.2. I just updated to 1.4.2. Previous to 1.4.2, the watch wouldn't unlock the rMBP.

With OCLP 1.4.2, unlocking with the Apple Watch finally works again. 👍🏻
Thank God, I was really annoyed🤬 by always having to enter the long password.

Thanks to the OCLP devs!🙏🏻

1.4.2 👍🏻

Repository: dortania/OpenCore-Legacy-Patcher · Tag: 1.4.2 · Commit: e494906 · Released by: khronokernel

WARNING 1: Do not upgrade to macOS 14.4 if you have a non-Metal Mac

macOS 14.4 is currently unsupported with Macs equipped with non-Metal Graphics Cards, see macOS 14.4 non-Metal sessions bug #1125 for more information. Affected Macs:

  • MacBook5,1 - MacBook7,1 (Early 2008 - Mid 2010)
  • MacBookAir2,1 - MacBookAir4,x (Mid 2008 - Mid 2011)
  • MacBookPro4,1 - MacBookPro8,x (Late 2008 - Late 2011)
  • iMac7,1 - iMac12,x (Mid 2007 - Mid 2011)
  • Macmini3,1 - Macmini5,x (Early 2009 - Mid 2011)
  • MacPro3,1 - MacPro5,1 (Early 2008 - Mid 2012)
Affected GPU Models (click to expand)

WARNING 2: If upgrading to macOS 14.4, you MUST install OCLP 1.4.2 beforehand.

A lot of hardware, including Metal GPUs, WiFi cards, T1 chipsets, etc have new patches made for macOS 14.4. We highly recommend installing OCLP 1.4.2 beforehand to ensure a smooth update.

WARNING 3: Upgrading to 12.7.4, 13.6.5 or 14.4 may break Auto Joining WiFi Networks on legacy Wireless Cards

To restore Auto-Join support, forget the network and re-add it.

This only applies for legacy WiFi cards, included with the following models:

  • MacBook5,x (Early 2008 - Early 2009)
  • MacBookAir2,1 - MacBookAir3,x (Mid 2008 - Late 2010)
  • MacBookPro4,1 - MacBookPro7,1 (Late 2008 - Mid 2010)
  • iMac7,1 - iMac12,x (Mid 2007 - Mid 2011)
  • Macmini3,1 (Early 2009 - Late 2009)
  • MacPro3,1 - MacPro5,1 (Early 2008 - Mid 2012)

With the release of OpenCore Legacy Patcher v1.4.2, this build is primarily targeted for macOS 14.4 and all Macs to ensure proper functionality. Over 1.4.0 and 1.4.1, 1.4.2 resolves Auto Join for WiFi on modern Wireless Cards, legacy WiFi support for 12.7.4 and 13.6.5 and a USB 1.1 regression for macOS Ventura.

We hope everyone enjoys the new release!

As to be expected, macOS Sonoma support is still in active development. This is a community-driven project, and as such we ask users to keep expectations in check and use older OSes if you encounter issues that affect you.

Our router supports AX so might as well get a BCM94360CSAX. Could you tell me where you got it from?

Same rMBP on Sonoma 14.4 and OCLP 1.4.1 and Freeform is working. Do not use it much but it appears to be working.
Good to know its something unique to me - it means I might be able to repair it myself. It's not a major issue though, as I do the drawings on the ipad. It's just convenient to reference them on the mac.

Edit:Update - perhaps I should have looked for this before posting in this thread - I found a fix. I deleted the .db file for Freeform and relaunced the app. It resynced with icloud and is functional again.

Same Mac here. I use Freeform a lot for music study. I did notice that after the update to 14.4 + 1.4.2 that it was taking a longer time to load the thumbnails and actual pages. The more objects on a page the longer it took to load.

Since I was planning to restructure it and break out some single pages into multiple, smaller ones I went ahead and did that. Now it's running fast again.

Hi, @chevyboy60013 ! I also have an MacBook Pro 7,1 (mid 2010), but I'm stuck on High Sierra since even with Catalina and dosdude1 patch the MBP was slow, jerky, didn't work iMovie. PowerPoint, etc…
Can you kindly tell me how it performs with OCLP and Sonoma? And can you tell me if it is even better with Ventura, Monterey or Big Sur?…
Thank you!
Responses are also welcome from other users who have MacBook Pro 7,1 mid 2010 :)
Fortunately, I use Sonoma with my 27" 14,2 iMac and it works very well with OCLP (see my Signature).

Yes, the process is somewhat delicate and fidgety and needs to be followed to a tee. Especially to always boot into OCLP at every stage of the install. Mr Macintosh also has a good YouTube video that some people prefer. Good luck.

Quite easy with bootcamp assistant.
That way has not worked for me in a dual boot with OCLP. The instructions on the Dortania however has worked. YMMV. Win 11 on my 2012 RNBP also required some dll edits during install as documented on several sites.

I have a late 2009 iMac running 14.3, it has a 500gb hd and 8gb of ram, it runs sonoma fine, a little slow opening apps likely because of the rotational hd, but is very tolerable and usable. As far as my mid 2010 7,1 MacBook pro, it has a 500gb ssd and 8gb of ram and it runs sonoma excellent. I had it running monterey which ran nicely on it and so far sonoma seems to be about the same. I am happy I have it installed. If you decide to do it you will need a 2.0 usb dock and a wired keyboard and mouse to finish the install with the post install patches to get keyboard and mouse function back as well as the keyboard backlighting. Once the post install patches are installed it works normally.

How do you install Windows 11?

I went through the Assistant Bootcamp, installed Windows 10 and bootcamp drivers.
Everything was going well with W10, so I copied the bootcamp drivers folder to the root of the drive C;
Then I used Rufus to create the boot pendrive without restrictions and continued booting from that pendrive by updating W11, what it does is create a new installation and you can remove W10 later.

So I have OCLP for macOS and Bootcamp directly for Windows 11.
One does not interfere with the other.
They are in different and individual partitions.

I also have a MBP 2010 13, and I use the applications iMovie, Garageband, FinalCut Pro, Logic Pro, Numbers, Pages, Keynote, MainStage, Motion non-metal versions, and it works perfectly on Catalina (dosdude1 patch), just don't update these applications for versions above it will be fine.

macOS Catalina is the last system that works in APFS RAID 0.

Even AppleTV works with this dosdude1 patch

Another thing I had to do was, in relation to Google Chrome, block the update, (info.plist), because if it updates, it loses compatibility, I am limited to the non-metal version (116.0.5845.187)

Microsoft Office 2019 (16.43) working fine (disable all updates, and you'll be fine).

Why didn´t you update directly from Windows 10???

Well, I've actually a MBP 5,2 mid-2009 (3.06 GHz) which I use all the time (as right now) and I have absolutely no problem for most tasks including streaming. It may be a bit slow on launching some apps but otherwise I use for audio, video, coding, downloading, editing, you name it. I have to mention that the main reason I keep it is that it's the 17" and I love the screen real estate from the "desktop replacement" age.

As for performance I've some Geekbench records:
- GB4 multi-core: from Catalina (10.15.7) 3507 to Sonoma (14.3.1) 3464 - about 1% less
- GB5 multi core : from Catalina (10.15.7) 790 to Sonoma (14.3.1) 759 - about 4% less (single-core down from 436 to 427 so about 2%)
I've erased the intermediate results (Monterey, Ventura) but i know that it was virtually unchanged.
On top it seems that GB introduces corrections/biases from the average performance of the model and chip installed, so I would say there's virtually no performance degradation, in any case undetectable.

Hi,
I messed up.
In OCLP I wanted to disable SIP and unchecked all.
Stupid, as this enabled all SIP.
Now of course the Macbook doesn't boot.
What is the easiest way to disable SIP so the Mac will boot again?
Thank you

I would boot from a different system and repatch from there.

Several ways. Do you have another Mac? If so, "Build and Install Open Core" to a USB thumb drive and boot from USB. Be sure to properly set the target host in OCLP when building Open Core for an external Mac.

EDIT: Once you recover, it's always a good idea to test any Open Core EFI changes with USB before installing them to your primary boot disk. It's also a good idea to keep a USB thumb drive with a known-working EFI for recovery.
