Got a bit of an issue with OCLP that I was hoping someone could give their advice on. Posted this as a separate thread but barely anybody has seen it, so thought it would be better here.

I've been tinkering with my MacPro5,1 again and decided to try Sequoia with OCLP. Did a clean install using the guide and it seems to work very nicely... except, no wifi, no Bluetooth. My guess is that it isn't expecting to deal with an upgraded card, as I installed the BCM943602CDP for native support under Monterey.

I understand there are a bunch of root patches and special sauce in OpenCore to make things work, and though I've tried disabling various related options using OpenCore Configurator the best I've managed is for Bluetooth devices to be seen, but never pair successfully. The iMacs that originally used the BCM943602CDP do seem to be supported by OCLP, so I assume there must be patches available, but my searches haven't turned up anything helpful. That probably means it's monumentally complicated, or incredibly simple and I should have figured it out myself.

Anyone managed to get this working or have any pointers? I'm guessing I will need to install the iMac root patches for wifi and Bluetooth to this Mac Pro, but I have no idea how.
I have 5 MacPro5,1 machines with stock wi-fi and BT cards and all work fine with oclp.
Don't forget to install the post-install root patches using oclp or it wont work!
I'm using 15.1b.
Cheers!

Post patches, should not have problem with the original wifi. Little finkiny, but just be patient while entering the router info.

Hello to all,

Did not have chance to install 15.01 or 15.1 beta6 until now (vacation).

iMac 13,2 late 2012, 27” with original internal fusion 1T HDD and an external Evo SSD 1TB.

Used OCLP 2.1 nightly (10.5.24 version). I did enable “all feature-unlock” in OCLP settings, and made sure to select appropriate Mac model (13,2) in Host Machine settings. Default heading read “Host Machine”, but when changed to actual machine code (iMac 13,2) the choices in other OCLP selections were different.

Installed OCLP onto the disk before initiating OS update.

There was difficulty in initiating updates OTA; it required multiple attempts to finally succeed (seems “update function” kept crashing [a supposition]). Eventually OTA update to 15.1 Beta 6 (fover resident 15.0) did complete.

A possible other solution to OTA update problems is to boot into Safe Mode and then initiate update(?)

After multiple automatic restarts, machine booted into functional desktop. Applied OCLP 2.1 patches and graphics were fully accelerated. Continuity functions, including iPhone-as-webcam and mirroring, were fully available. No problems with handoff or iMessage functionality.

MacBook Pro 5,2 2009 17” with SSD (Evo). (Non-metal). [used mostly for experimental “endeavors”]
Updated to 15.1 beta 6 OTA. Used OCLP 2.1 nightly to install open core, before updating the OS.

Again, changed the heading in the OCLP (via “settings” section) to MacBook Pro 5,2, since default heading was “Host Machine”. When changed to MacBook Pro 5,2 heading, choices available for modification were different than under Host Machine” heading. I further did select full feature-unlock option and Firewire booting. Installation proceeded as described above for iMac. Once the post-install patches were applied there was graphics acceleration. Hand-off, screen mirroring and iMessage were fully functional.

It took some time for machine to become fully responsive after system installation; stem activity showed a great deal of “clean-up” activity along with XprotectRemediator scans.

Once above was completed system became very responsive and fully usable.

Great work by developer teams.

Are there any problems with keyboards, Mine are misbehaving, it's not the keyboard, works fine on other systems or macOS versions?
Misbehaving spacebar, not always, just intermittently, misbehaving more than not, not filling space in text but seems to use the tab function instead of function of the spacebar.
This is a standaard el cheapo keyboard, worked before and in other macOs versions.

My other Apple Keyboards seem to have other problems.
What machine, macOS version, OCLP version? Since we are not mind readers your question is impossible to answer without these simple facts.

The answer is no, on my machine, details of which are in my signature spoiler.

On my MBP11,3, license agreements are not displayed, whether from full installers or software updates; while on my MBP11,1 (without discrete graphics), they are displayed: anyone else has this problem…? Here’s a screenshot of the full macOS 15.0.1 installer: as can be seen, no license agreement is displayed. Maybe something to do with the Nvidia Kepler card (even if the same happens also forcing Intel Haswell)…?

It works well installing by USB Key and not by macOS 😉

I would like to try to reinstall Sequoia via USB Key, but it is impossible as it wants the Network connection.
I've read that someone has used the iPhone Hotspot, but I've tried it and the installer still doesn't see the Network, even when I can view iPhone and select it… In the top right-hand corner of the menu bar, in fact, there is still an exclamation mark instead of the WiFi symbol.

Kindly could someone indicate the procedure to follow, step by step? Thank you.

And does the USB Key's OCLP need to be activated, or is it OK to keep the BootEFI already on the main disk?
Thanks

That's the trick folks, my upgraded card isn't stock to the MacPro5,1. The Mac Pro came with 802.11n wifi and Bluetooth 2.1. The BCM943602CDP replaces that with 802.11ac and Bluetooth 4.2, which was supported natively until Ventura.

OCLP supports the iMac models which use this card, so the drivers will be in OCLP somewhere, but I'm not sure how to apply those drivers to my Mac Pro. The "Late 2015" and all "2017" model iMacs used the BCM943602CDP.

I'm assuming you built OpenCore on a different Mac? Build OpenCore again on device and restart, it should enable AMFIPass which enables the TCC permission system.

Multiple builds will just create a bigger mess both code maintainability wise and for the user, there has been so much complaints about random crashing revealed to be caused by those two that it was seen as better to disable it by default.

Good news is that settings retainment will also be shipping once 2.1.0 is out, which means no more enabling the settings over and over again after OCLP updates etc and OCLP will remember the settings status even in the GUI. It's a pretty big overhaul that should reduce overall confusion about saving settings. Which means even for FeatureUnlock, once you enable it for one time it's basically set it and forget it.

@Neon Ball

Okay, thank you, I have now unchecked Disable AMFI in the OpenCore Patcher settings under/Security and now it works, thank you very much

However, OpenCore was always created directly on the Macbook

Does anyone happen to know why in the "Where is? app" you always get "no location found" under People, but if you look under Devices, all devices can be found as normal.

Can this be fixed somehow?

In case anyone has not run across this, but after taking 15.1 (24B5070a) and Little Snitch 6.x, the network monitor of LS doesn't show anything unless you disable MacOS Firewall. I hope the creator of LS addresses this though I'm not sure the consequences of turning off system FW and relying solely on LS, but the safe option would be to keep system FS enabled and have the developers fix LS.

I think the english version is called "Find My" 🤓 I have similar issues on my Mac and I cannot say whether it is a MacOS Sequoia bug or an OCLP issue. People and devices work fine for me but objects don't get updated. My brother, with same machine, had issues with people as well. On my iPhone (iOS 18) all 3 categories work fine.

After upgrading from macos14 to macos15? OCLP2.01. When logging in, after entering the password, the spinner spins. The screen freezes. Does not log in. Where to look? MacBookPro11,2

Why this error still remain

NOTE: This version of ocvalidate is only compatible with OpenCore version 1.0.1! Misc->BlessOverride: \EFI\Microsoft\Boot\bootmgfw.efi is redundant! CheckMisc returns 1 error! Completed validating /Volumes/EFI/EFI/OC/config.plist in 8 ms. Found 1 issue requiring attention.

About the macOS Firewall and Little Snitch.
The thought of the great Howard Hoakley, in his response to a post of mine in his important blog The Eclectic Light Company is as follows:
“You shouldn’t need to enable the macOS Firewall, for two reasons:
first, your router should block all incoming connections anyway (if it’s not configured to do that, you should do so immediately),
and second you’re already using a much better firewall in Little Snitch, as that will give you fine control over outgoing connections as well.”

See here: https://eclecticlight.co/2024/10/04/is-there-more-xprotection-in-sequoia/

With that, Howard removed all doubt from my mind since in fact the macOS Firewall cannot be configured the way we like it and the only way to be able to do so would be to use Murus which claims to be simple but, in practice, makes me understand almost nothing…

Update all went fine on oclp latest build but it will not sleep, if I close the lid now the screen stays on when on battery. If it send it to sleep it goes to sleep but when I close the screen it wakes up! Any ideas it’s driving me nuts!

I see similar behavior on a 2012 MBP, but if I wait 30 seconds or so after putting it to sleep, I can close the lid without the machine waking up.

This is the first thing I did. Everything is the same.before updating I updated to the latest OCLP
I run Sequoia 15.1 Beta 6 + OCLP 2.0.2 on my MBP11,2. No issues worth mentioning.
If you still did not do it, reset NVRAM, boot in Safe Mode, reapply root patches.
If it still does not work, create a USB Sequoia Installer, boot with it, create a new volume and install Sequoia there. Check if it boots. If it does, you can use a Time Machine backup to restore your files and delete the old Volume.
OR
You can downgrade to Sonoma by following the instructions posted here by @Ready-for-Apple :
