Well since I use network shares regularly at work, I downgraded to Catalina. I thought I could use time machine to restore to beta 5, but no. Anywho, that was an ordeal. Had to erase and reactivate my Mac. I’m pretty sure I’m the only person on Catalina with the start up chime officially sanctioned by Apple.

Funny you should say that... I was messing with the public beta a bit and never could get the chime to work in the beta. I deleted the beta and went back to Catalina and now have the chime... :)

What's your firmware and Bridge OS version?

Anyone have issue oprning Security & Privacy control panel, for me I get wheel of death and then the Sys Pref is unrepsonsive and I have to force quit. Started in beta 5 now in beta 6.

Has the latest dev beta released yesterday been good to people so far?

if I hear decent things, I'll move from PB1 to 3 when it comes out

Would say like answer is no. For me the biggest issue is from the bridge os firmware as boot regularly and the delay is annoying, this isn’t fixed yet. Also it doesn’t load smb drivers on boot sounds like, so smb shares don’t work.

Hello,

Has anyone found a solution to correct the SMB problem?

If not, it works the other way around, my iMac 12.1 can connect in SMB on the iMac 16.1 which has the Beta 6.

Have a nice day.

Edit: I just saw that I posted at the same time as T-Bob, I confirm that SMB works well in the other direction as I just said above.

This was posted in another thread, not tried it myself:

Not sure if this is posted here but temp fix for this is Terminal Command "sudo kextload /System/Library/Extensions/smbfs.kext" but you have to do it for each restart.

It's not a bug.

That document was updated prior to the release of the 2020 iMacs, which definitely supports Hey Siri using the T2 chip.

Thank you,

It works, the kext launches well, on the other hand I have access to my Synology Nas but not to my Freebox (probably due to the fact that it's not in SMB3).

Edit: it's "sudo kmutil load -p /System/Library/Extensions/smbfs.kext" in Big Sur the old command is converted.

Thanks. Works. Created a global lauchdaemon ...
Does it `normally` work with the latest beta (6) ?

I finally took the plunge and installed Big Sur Beta on my Late 2015 iMac. So far so good. Query, when the non-beta version gets released does the regular updater, update to the official release? If not, what if the procedure to go from the beta to the public release?
