Try it. No Windows shares here ...
In fact, you have to be careful. There must be a reason, why apple doesn't`t load the kext ...

I lost my ability to connect to my nVidia Shield's HDD. Nothing on the Shield has changed. I triple-checked. I'm thinking it's on the Mac en, but I'm baffled because nothing has changed on the mac. Can't connect at all. it would be smb://10.0.0.40

Any ideas what may have happened?

Looks like Music will only play to one Airplay device at a time here, not multiple devices
Works for me.

SMB is borked on this beta. You need to load the smb kernel manually and it should work but won't keep after rebooting.
In Terminal, type: sudo kextload /System/Library/Extensions/smbfs.kext

I got file sharing to work. On my Big Sur MacBook, I turned on Fire Sharing and then I went to Options and I enabled Windows File Sharing for my account. This then allowed my Catalina iMac to connect to my Big Sur MacBook. (I'm not sure why Windows File Sharing should matter for sharing Mac to Mac but it works).
With the latest beta, things have gone the other way. Now both Catalina and High Sierra systems can connect to file shares on Big Sur machine, but Big Sur system is not able to connect to either Catalina or High Sierra file systems.
All systems are using SMB sharing.

Have tried running 'sudo /usr/libexec/configureLocalKDC' but makes no difference.

One step forward, one step back!

My USB mouse randomly disconnects and reconnects. It's been doing this since the first beta. I wonder if this is the same USB bug that plagued Catalina.

I can't update my Date/Time settings for the Menu Bar Clock. When I enter my password the "Time Options" remain greyed out. I was looking to add seconds to my display.
Most of the options were available in the previous beta, but they didn't do anything. So they "fixed" it in this beta :) Log a Feedback thingy and hopefully it'll get fixed soon enough.

Works for me.
Thanks! I'm starting to realise that - on this mid 2017 Retina 5k 27 inch iMac - that there are continued "hover-type" display problems - none of the tick boxes you are seeing are showing up. I have the same problem (reported earlier) of the Options button not showing up under System Preferences / iCloud Drive.

I've reported it via the Feedback Assistant.

UPDATE:- Just checked again and I'm now seeing that they ARE working, but I have to hover over them for quite a few seconds before they become tickable

Invoking Notification Center on a multi-monitor setup in Beta 6 now correctly places the Notification Center widgets on the screen you invoked it from. Previously, it was only opening Notification Center on the primary screen, regardless of which display you opened it from.

Final note from me on this - it seems to be linked to the transparency setting in Accessibility - I had it set to "reduce transparency". Unticking that preference resolves it.

Hey people! Does anybody know if this is a new effect on Big Sur or just a glitch with the new BETA? I see huge white blur around windows, files. I also see the same light blur at Startup around the Apple Logo.

Apart from being retina burningly white, that screenshot looks pretty normal to me. Do I need to get my eyes tested?

*Disclaimer: I usually use dark mode, but I still can't see much wrong with it, except the brightness.

Cannot open System Preferences -> Security & Privacy if some driver is updated.
I updated Parallels to 16.0.1 which installed a new driver. But now its impossible to open security & privacy to approve the new driver. it will always throw an error.
if i uninstall parallels completly the error is gone. it seems the latest beta is bugged so its impossible to approve new driver/services anymore.

Is there any workaround for this?

We see this with what we think is Symantec, but when we remove Symantec we still have the same issue. Eventually you get the wheel of death and then you have to force quit System Prefs.

This update seems terribly buggy being so close to release. Hoping they can get it together, I was really looking forward to it.
