We’re you able to find a workaround? I had the same problem after upgrading, but it only affected my keyboard. I have the newer keyboard, so I was able to plug it in and then proceed. I am curious as to how you were able to get around this issue (if at all).

Yes, actually I have 2 USB drives plugged in. One for Time Machine and one for storage. Both are 2TBs. The non time machine usb storage device when plugged in causes the problem. When unplugged, no problem. Took me a while to figure it out and your post asking made me troubleshoot some more. Thanks!

Note: The problem drive isn't encrypted like the Time Machine drive. Encrypting it now to see if that resolves the issue so I can leave it in.

Anyone else seeing a bug for time display in menu bar, the AM/PM toggle does not seem to work. My time displays in 24 hours only.

Beta 3 is saying battery "Service recommended" even in 14th charging cycle.
Capacity in System Information is 100%
Capacity in Battery Monitor is 98%

Still happening in today's upgrade. Yay!

Hi all!

I'm having an issue with my 2016 13" MBP where, when I press on the arrow on my touch bar's control strip to expand the options (e.g. to access brightness and volume controls), everything just disappears and the touch bar only shows the Escape button. I catch a glimpse of all the icons for a brief nanosecond and then the touch bar remains empty and unresponsive until I switch to another app.

Is anyone else having this issue? Thanks!

Every morning with Big Sur i have the problem with my MBP 16 that i have to reconnect my external TB Display (plug out, plug in) after deep standby. (Just black screen and will not wake up)

Is there any workaround for this? Just found some tips to install kext extensions (whatevergreen) but i have no idea how and if this is for official macos as well....

I'm having a bug with notification center. If I receive a notification but don't open it (let it go to notification center), and I open notification center 2 min later, it'll say that I received the notification 2 minutes ago, which is correct.

However, if I don't clear the notification, and then I check the notification again 10 minutes later, it'll still say that I received the notification 2 minutes ago (the time when I first opened notification center after receiving the notification) instead of 12 minutes ago.

Hello, guys, i have an issue since i updated at BigSur my macmini (2018) at BigSur.The Universal Clipboard stopped working between my Mac and my iPhone(XR-iOS14.2). I have tried various solutions like turning on-off b/t and wifi on both devices, restarts etc nothing changed. The funny thing is that the Universal Clipboard is working as expected between my iphone and my ipad (10,2-2020) , and between my iPad and my Mac!!
Can anyone help me on this?

Anyone else have their Mac 7.1 video 'sort of' quit working after upgrading to Big Sur? I ran the installer, and after all the starts and stops, my boot up got about 2/3 of the way through the progress bar, and then the video went black. The really weird part is, I booted with option key held, and selected my old Catalina drive (yes - all my drive were visible on the monitor), and the exact same thing happened. I tried resetting the PRAM, Verbose startup, and all the other key combos I could find on boot up, but always the same black screen after around 2/3 of the progress bar. I did everything I could think of for two or three days (how long has Big Sur been out?), and then today I decided to try replacing my USB-C to Display Port video cable with an HDMI one I had, and voila - problem solved! I just can't figure out why that old cable would work 2/3 of the way through boot, and then quit. Weird! Everything seems to be working on my 7.1 now, and I can still boot Catalina.

Well.... not sure if this is happening for anyone else but the sliders (like Volume and Brightness) in my touchbar don't respond to my finger. I can tap on either side of them and make the levels rise or fall but can't just press and slide them in either direction. I sure hope that makes sense. I already restarted the Touch Bar Server but that didn't help.

I couldn't find reference to it, but is anybody having issues with windows disappearing when you connect to an external monitor? This has happened intermittently in previous macOS versions for me (on different machines), but now it's every single time.

Basically in Mission Control it shows windows being on a specific screen but they're not. They're kind of lost in between screens and I needed to drag them back and forth between screens from mission control until eventually I can see the hint of a corner and drag it back into full view.

I switch between using a monitor and not using one 5+ times a day and this drives me crazy.

Well, today I found the solution I just signed out from my iCloud account on both iMac and iPhone and signed in again. After that the universal Clipboard is working fine.

Here is a peculiar issue. When dragging a window in conjunction with switching focus from one monitor to another, this artifact sometimes occurs. This is a slow motion recording.

11.0.1 removes rosetta and automatically enables the guest user.

I can't believe the guest user is even still there.

Cisco Any Connect no longer works on 11.0.1 even with rosetta.

Nope. Worked great on 11.0 but not working on 11.0.1.

What stinks is all my other apps are working. The only one not working is the simple VPN client that I 100% need to do my job.

I usually wait a few weeks before installing a new macOS version. I was hoping to get automatic switching for AirPods, but that didn't happen. Here are a few of the things I've experienced since installing Big Sur:

Bluetooth: Cannot connect any Bluetooth devices
Sound: Cannot output sound to AppleTV or any other device. Only internal speakers work.
Contacts: Duplicated all my contacts and contact groups.
Contacts: Removed all contacts from some groups.
Contacts: Removed some images from contacts.
Mail: Removed the grouped Junk and Archive folders from Mail.
Music: Removed all my Music album artwork (this is a serious issue, with over 3,000 albums and over 22,000 songs)

So far, I'm not impressed.

I definitely have the Bluetooth issue, as you describe it.

Did you use System Preferences to adjust the Battery status? Percentage battery is shown for me

Yes, it's System Preferences > Dock and Menu Bar > Scroll down to Battery > Then click Show Percentage.

Solved: window was hiding, don't know where, but opening Mail with SHIFT solved it!
