iCloud Drive is such a hot mess that it is affecting other applications: Photos, Music, device sync in Finder.
It is. I have recently lost Desktop and Documents functionality on the Mac. iOS works fine for the moment and all data is safe.

I tried deleting the dupes on my iPad running iPadOS 13 and iCloud threw an error when I tried emptying the trash. Eventually, the dupes came back, so I tried again, which seemed to stick, however again crashed when trying to empty trash. I haven’t checked to see if the dupes once again came back.
It boggles my mind that Apple even considers this beta. Users have virtually no control over iCloud Drive whatsoever, so pushing experimental changes that can break iCloud Drive with no way to fix it is just absurd. This is not beta.I’ve had to turn off iCloud drive on both my Macs. Things are a lot smoother now.
? Seems like the ideal place for it tbh, as long as people give the necessary feedback. iCloud is clearly working better for some than others. For me its terrible, but meh.. Does anyone know if this is fixed on the newest beta?My only bugs as of this point are, the second (public) beta will not download because it says I need 17 gb available space, I have 33 (and the download is only 4), and the App store won't let me sign in or update apps. Download/Update issues. I'm currently searching the comments to see if anyone has similar issues. I am on Public Beta 1, MacBook Air 2013.
In 6 years of beta testing, this is only my second major issue, after two years ago's kernel panic when updating the files.

I'm also having the issue where iCloud Drive and Spotlight are running at 100% CPU indefinitely. I can't wait for the next beta!

I have a similar problem while upgrading from beta 3 to beta 4. Everytime I try to start the installer it says that it needs more disk space. When I delete files the required disk space counter rises. At my first attempt it needed around 1.9GB of extra free space. Now it's up to 6.93 GB.

I'll give them the benefit of the doubt considering the holidays you've had over there, but little to nothing has improved in this beta. Yikes.
workaround for “not enough space” bug: start the Time Machine backup about 15minutes and click download Update again.

Me, too.The Music app keeps on insisting I should join Apple Music even though I am already a member...
