I've always set bottom left as put display to sleep in Hot Corners. If I remember to do that before shutting the lid it wakes ok.
Well it has once, lol. We'll see how it does after a good nights sleep.......if I remember to sleep display first.

I might have suffered from something similar on my MBA 2017 just a while ago. Yesterday evening I had no issues with sleep and wake. Today morning, I distinctly remember I had it switched on and left it for some work. When I came back, the computer was unresponsive as if it was shut down. Had to press the power button and it behaved like it is restarting, complete with the Apple logo. Made me doubt myself if I had really booted the computer before I left, or had I just opened the lid and had not started it before I went out?!

Now, after it restarted, system opened the Photos app. So clearly, I would have switched it on and opened Photos app (to give it time to sync since it is not syncing at the moment) before leaving the computer.
It's even happening if I leave it unlocked. The system.log prior to the freeze always reads:
Code:
Jul 23 09:17:53 7YTTH12 photolibraryd[1133]: BUG in libdispatch: 19A512f - 6055 - 0x0

I did find one thing though. If you put the computer to sleep manually, you can wake it back up successfully every single time. I have filed a bug report with Apple, and now I can see a "More than 10".

Apple's investigation into it is "complete - unable to diagnose with current information".
Thanks for the manual sleep tip. I'll try that. I have a feeling it has to either do with Notification Centre permissions that have been introduced in this beta (IMDPersistenceAgent) or with iCloud photos (photolibraryd, cloudphotos). Going to try to disable iCloud photos to see if it helps.

UPDATE: No dice with manual sleep and turning off iCloud photos.

Code:
Jul 23 11:41:18 7YTTH12 apsd[121]: BUG in libdispatch: 19A512f - 6055 - 0x0
Jul 23 11:41:34 7YTTH12 xpcproxy[1413]: libcoreservices: _dirhelper_userdir: 557: bootstrap_look_up returned (ipc/send) invalid destination port

Nothing consistent in system.log prior to freeze either.

No wonder Apple said “Investigation Complete - can’t diagnose from this information”.

Most likely by another beta we will have something that would point in the direction of a fix. Joys of beta. :p

LOL.

Doesn't exist anymore.

Yes it does..? Unless yours is glitching out catastrophically!

Okay is this just me or.... There’s something really wrong with Dropbox. All my files keeps resynching after every restart. Like all 5,000+ files.

Huh. Dropbox isn't working at all for me. Complains about some permission issue. Folder is on a connected disk, so that might be the issue.

My first "crash": put the mac to sleep last night;
this morning the power was off & had to use the power button to turn it back on
"Sleep" crash submission form came up.

I'm having issues with documents and other files in the iCloud Drive - duplicates being created, unable to attach to emails and so on. Word and Pages keep crashing when saving documents to iCloud Drive which is annoying (fine when saving to the HD).

I am now experiencing what you guys are sharing suddenly my MBA 2017 freezes and had to hard reset. Also having problem with sleep/wake.
send feedback reports!
[doublepost=1564091190][/doublepost]all my stuff is on my external hd, so that matters,
1st week, opening/saving files caused the slow beach ball icon...
seems to be faster this week for some reason.
the open/save window popup is faster that it was last week lol

Gravy dog, thanks.
no problem lol
there's also the new Screenshot app (instead of the old Grab app) on macOS
i take a lot of screenshots of work lectures & presentations etc...
i changed mine to Option-2 to save to Desktop,
& Option-3 to save to Clipboard.
that's enough for me

I’ve been having issues uploading to iCloud ever since the first beta. I would add an album to iTunes, and only half of it would be uploaded to iCloud. I would have to delete and re-add the album for it to work.

And I’m still having issues signing into the App Store and updating apps.

I'm not running Catalina yet - But Mojave has an issue of Mail appearing (even when in a full-screen app) at random, lots of people seem to experience it - Was just wondering if it's fixed. Fingers crossed it is!
oh never knew about that;
never happened to me

@ErikGrim

Something seems to have gotten worse for me in the beta. Now, the computer is not respecting manual sleep and just goes to sleep when it does (after some time) and never wakes up without a restart. I tried to set the computer to not sleep, there is no direct option, so I tried not letting the display sleep, disks sleep, and now post lunch I found the display off and the computer shut down.

I read previously that you, too, failed to keep the computer from sleeping, right? Any luck with the Feedback (if you submitted)? My feedback that I submitted on July 21, which was marked by Apple as investigation complete, is now open again, possibly due to my adding to the feedback.

I hope the next beta resolves that issue somehow. This is a serious dealbreaker at the moment. I can't leave a large download running. Just some days ago I could simply set the display to not sleep and be happy. Today, no matter what setting, the computer sleeps after some time.

Mine was the opposite issue, not waking from sleep. I've installed Metamphetamine and that seems to have stopped it from going to sleep, or locking up while being idle - even with locking the screen.
