What did you do to fix the Documents? I tried to disable syncing with iCloud and then enable it back, but same error (now I have it trying to resend :( )

What steps did you use?
I went into my iCloud settings and simply disable iCloud Documents and Desktop, and made the local folders remain blank. I confirmed that the two folders were still in iCloud Drive and then re-activated the setting which replaced the local folders with their iCloud versions.

Question: I'm on the Catalina beta, but I'm planning on buying a new laptop. If I wanted to restore from a time machine backup, can I do that even though the new computer will be on Mojave? Or do I need to upgrade the new laptop to the Catalina beta first?
If your Time Machine has been functioning since Mojave, you should be able to pull a snapshot from Mojave. But it shouldn't matter. Time Machine builds a complete image from the sparse bundle and then writes it to the Mac. This includes the OS, which would automatically put Catalina beta on the new Mac.

Archive Utility won't unzip a zipped parallels VM. It says "the archive is empty." If I do it in Mojave it is fine. It is also fine, if I copy the 10.11 version of Archive utility from Mojave and place it into Catalina and use the 10.11 version to unzip it.

Joys of beta software.

Can anyone help me out? My system preference crash, there was an error in edit and privacy settings and it does this for users or anything else under system preference. This is on iMac 5k 2015 24GB is ram? This plist do I delete? New profile doesn’t have this issue and I don’t want to start with new profile has this profile since day one and everything is customized.
So how can I fix this crash in this beta?

Try copy the preference file from new profile to old profile...but first rename the original by adding .bkp to the end, to preserve it in case you need it.

Is anyone able to load iOS 12 devices in Finder? Mine just keeps spinning regardless of iPad or iPhone.

EDIT: Eventually shows up, but not able to interact with any controls nor do they re-conform to the window when resized.

I have the same problems, could you fix it ??

I heard that the Insiders updates of OneDrive were working on Catalina, so I downloaded the latest version from the normal place on Microsoft.com, and installed it over my Appstore version of OneDrive, and it's working now.

You *may* have to enable Slow Insider or Fast Insider in Microsoft Update for this to work - I'm usually working on Fast Insider updates.

I'm looking forward to the second beta. The Music app is pure junk in Beta 1. It can never load my library unless I specifically import everything again. And then after it loads, it won't quit properly. If I Force Quit the Music app, the next time I open it, it's lost my library again.

The Music app is indeed suffering from the lobotomisation right now. Won't quit and save library/views at times, the column browser is inexplicably gone as is the options to convert into formats other than AAC - a core part of my music production workflow.

EDIT: Changing Import Settings and Library management has been consolidated into the new Files options in Preferences.

Lobotomisation! I like your use of the word for Apple's app.

My iCloud Drive seems to be having issues. ~/Library>containers>com.apple.icloud.drive.fileprovider>Data>Library>Application Support>iCloudDrive>account-xxxxxx>session>cache>unlink has absolutely ballooned in size. Currently 75 GB and constantly growing. Soon to run out of space on my MacBook Pro.

I have tried toggling Desktop and Document sync without a fix. Multiple reboots. Can't run Time Machine cause network encrypted backup. Afraid to delete it cause of potential file loss. Can't find anything online about this specific file path.

I'm having thee same issue, not sure if I should just delete it. Mine is 125GB.

I am also having trouble installing beta 2... 3rd time's the charm?
Nope. I also wouldn't recommend installing it, as it puts Finder out of commission. With fileproviderd crashing literally every 2 seconds, Finder does nothing but hang as it respawns the daemon to load the folder contents, and then another crash. But if you really want to install here's how. Assuming you already downloaded the installer:
  1. Plug in a blank drive of at least 8 GB, and note down the volume name of the storage media
  2. Open your terminal and run the command "sudo /Applications/Install\ macOS\ Catalina\ Beta.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/<name of volume>" and follow the instructions on the terminal and wait for it to finish.
  3. Reboot your Mac into your external disk which is in effect a recovery mode of the newest beta.
  4. Wait for the disk evaluation to finish, which can take up to 15 minutes. You may need to log your account in.
  5. If you are using File Vault, go to disk utility and mount both partitions of your macOS drive and exit the utility.
  6. Click the install option and proceed through the process as normal. If you are using File Vault you may need to periodically unlock the disk for the updater to continue.

Microsoft AutoUpdate 4.12 on Office Insider Fast is now unable to update office apps under Catalina Beta 2. Which is not ideal.

It downloads the updates, then pops up a dialog saying

"One or more packages could not be downloaded. Please try again.
These applications were not updated
Word
Outlook
OneNote
PowerPoint
Excel".

All worked fine in Beta 1.

Yeah. Most non-apple updaters are now broken due to the new security settings. My root /srv directory also gets wiped with each update which really hampers my Docker instances.
