come on people are making fun of it everywhere.. saying it looks like windows vista and reheated poor ideas from a decade ago that were even abandonned by m$windows itself.
it's an embarassement. a major one. it's like someone telling you your house facade will now be painted in flashy pink and you can't say No. and you live there. it's pain.
That may be your issue. Stop listening to idiots and form your own opinion.

If you genuinely think it looks like Vista I’m not sure what to say. You’d have to have to the most basic understanding of ui to think so.

BTW I can promise you many of those calling it it Vista will be hyping up whatever copy of Liquid glass Android phones from China come out with soon.

That being said, use whatever you prefer.

Anyone else having the problem of MacOS not seeing beta 2 when checking for updates?
Same here on the 14 M1 Pro, using the full installer now.

Edit: Full installer will run through the setup, but boots up as Beta 1 again. Something weird going on. Maybe because I'm using an external drive.

no, i think they are kind of right, it does look like reheated crap from decade old clueless ideas.
vista was m$ ideas at implementing transparency and flashy visual effects in their OS, it looked like what they wanted i guess .... and after a while they dropped it. what i'm saying is, it's not that they look alike really, what i'm saying is that both abused of transparency and bling, visual effects and what not. and the result was poor.

now, if i say to you that i prefer macos UI from before bigsur, and you reply to me that i don't have the most basic understanding of UIs in general because of that preference of mine, well i'll take that as a compliment. i certainly do not understand tahoe's liquid sh*t .

Anybody missing the ability to set your own wallpaper now? on B1 it was there, but either impossible to choose an image or a folder for images.
In B2, for me, the option is missing from the possible list of things to choose from.

I’d respond but I’m not sure I understand what are trying to say. Those talking about Vista are ignorant of Aqua. Liquid Glass and just new and some struggle with that. Previous versions of the UI don’t represent some pinnacle of UI design. Potty mouth does nothing to further your argument.

As I'm digging more, it looks like a lot of things that rely on webkit to render UI aren't working. Extension windows don't appear when you click on their icons in Safari, for example (Noir, Rakuten, and others).

sure, some people don't like it. and some people do. and others will eventually like it... or get used to it. and, over time, it will become the 'norm'. then, when apple changes it all up again, people will melt down... again.

we see these posts every single year, with each new set of changes 🤷

Nope - I am able in B2:

Hmmm. It’s good that they reverted the Finder icon, but I feel a little aggrieved because these minor cosmetic flaws are fixed quickly due to complaints by prominent members of the podcasting/blogging community, while more serious issues go ignored for years because these same people don’t speak about them.
to be fair, that was probably a 2 minute fix.

Excellent improvements on beta 2 for everything, except my M1 MacBook Pro

I'm still encountering massive memory leaks that eventually bring my system to a halt

These massive full-system crashes (on my third since the developer betas, including once on beta 2), make little sense to me. The two apps this time around (Surfshark and Brave), which grew to use over 10GB of RAM, never had problems before the macOS 26 dev beta journey

Anyone else struggling with this as well?

Anyone else having an issue in the App Store (was not present in beta 1) where most of your purchased apps are gone. The ones you have installed, show as open (even though they are missing form your purchased apps list) but the one's not installed either want you to repurchase or Get again. Again this was NOT present in Beta 1 but now new in Beta 2.

Keyboard Maestro crashes on launch for me as well. The curse of Beta 2 strikes again!
Wish I read this before trying B2 out. ;-)

It’s a bad one. Safari is crashing on loads of sites, with all extensions disabled. Even opening the preferences for Safari crashed it for me.

But not having KM was the major problem. Doing a TimeMachine restore now.

Yeah, Apple is doing something different, so the theme around here changes from "Apple bad. Apple not creative. No innovation." to "Apple bad. Apple changing too much. Apple should leave things alone."

I'm using an external drive as well. I'll just clone my Sequoia volume again onto the external drive and go straight to b2 and see if that works.
