Monterey has some support time left for some security updates.
To quote apple: "Because of dependency on architecture and system changes to any current version of macOS (for example, macOS 13), not all known security issues are addressed in previous versions (for example, macOS 12)."
I would be more concerned if I was the average person who didn't understand security, or didn't know how to put into practice good usage. Typically I use a third party browser, such as Chrome, Firefox, Brave, Edge, etc. I'm not dealing with enterprise level stuff, so I'm a single user. I feel a lot of Apple's security warnings are geared toward either Enterprise, or people who don't know what they are doing.
With that said, it's always good to be aware, and within reason take precautions. That's why I mentioned, if macOS becomes too much of a danger, changing to a platform such as Linux would be a fairly easy move as the core OS is about the same, and the Applications, and specific things to Apple which really make the difference.
I tried Ventura, and just wasn't that impressed with it over what I have already plus the initial bugs I had, just told me I can wait for it, or if it doesn't get any better for what I'm looking for, than change platforms, if I have to.
