And Apple released 10.14.5 with 142.0.0.0.0. Someone didn't got the memo?!?!?! Seriously!?!?!?!

Code:
$IBIOSI$ MP51.88Z.F000.B00.1902142049
Apple ROM Version
  Model: MP51
  EFI Version: 142.0.0.0.0
  Date: Thu Feb 14 20:43:08 2019
  Build Type: Release

Before someone asks, it's exactly the same as the 142.0.0.0.0 from the previous 10.14.4 DPs and will brick W3xxx Xeons!!! Same CRC32.

I even got a reply from Apple Developer Relations acknowledging my report about the firmware.

Rest assured I have already notified Apple once again.

We’ll see what happens from here.

I was thinking, thanks Woz MP5,1 still has the old way to do firmware upgrades - more than half of the people testing DPs would have bricks to repair…

Something is very wrong with the communication between developer relations/radar, people that make the firmwares and people that make/release macOS images.

This 142.0.0.0.0 release shouldn’t happened again.

I smell a class action from bricked cMP owners if that is at all possible for Beta testers..

The negative reports about the 10.14.4 upgrade are piling up in the Mojave forum.

. .. and also in Apple Discussions / Mojave https://discussions.apple.com/community/mac_os/mojave

Suddenly my enthusiasm for Mojave has started melting away.

I have just turned OFF auto updates in Mojave.

On top of that there is a 10.14.5 combo update . . . too quick methinks.

Beta terms that you agree prevent you from suing Apple.

I'm always saying this: if you can’t repair you Mac from botched updates, don’t use DPs/PBs.

You are mixing developer previews with regular updates…

It’s normal to have combo updates on the Seed channel for test and future release, nothing new here. If past years schedule will be followed, 10.14.5 will be released around WWDC time, with 10.14.6 around 10.15 GM release time.

Beta testers are just that. There are no guarantees made about beta software and all rights are signed away. This mistake should not have been made but there is no lawsuit level action here...

Unigine Valley and Heaven no longer works after update to 10.14.4. Were working just fine on 10.14.3.

Tested on MacVidCards GTX760 2 GB.

By any chance does anybody have a working link for macOSUpd10.14.1.RecoveryHDUpdate.pkg . As far as I can see its the last working bootrom version that doesnt brick w3... processors. The earlier provided link is no longer working. I´ve also searched the SU database and cant find a match.

I know what a Beta release is but I was mistaken re the 10.14.5 Beta release. Most of my comment was regarding the number of problems in the 10.14.4 official release.

Early this morning I downloaded the 10.14..4 full installer via the App Store .. it told me a firmware upgrade was required before installation but my 4,1>5,1 is/was already at 140.0.0.0.

From App Store downloaded 10.14.4 full installer.jpg

Anyone else experience this ? ( I've reinstalled 10.14.3 since then and won't be holding down the power button when I boot up )

Using the System Update under Settings does not require the firmware update with the MP4,1/5,1 (that's how I updated my 10.14.4 build)-the full installer from the App Store requires the Bootrom update (I went back and updated once the installer DL from the App Store, public 141.0.0.0.0 installed no issues).

The strobing/breathing power-light of the 4,1/5,1 is what I've always used as an indicator of triggering the ROM update (~15-20 seconds or equivalent of your machines normal POST time), and the tone has always followed 99% of the time; usually 2-3 seconds following the light indicator on my machine.

Would the latest Mojave installer update MP51.0089.B00 to 141.0.0.0.0 (latest working v on 5 1 mac pro) ?

Click shut down. Enter your password. Wait for shut down. Wait 1 minute. Press AND HOLD power button on front of tower. Wait for chime AND WAIT ANOTHER 15 SECONDS before releasing from power button hold. CD/DVD drive will open. Computer will cycle and then restart.
Any reason to wait a minute after shutdown and to keep holding after the tone? I start it back up a couple seconds after shut down and release immediately when the tone sounds.

Hello every one,
I just updated from the pre meltdown firmware to the 10.13.6 firmware and was planning to do the firmware update of 10.14.3.
On the first page of this thread is no mention, of what Firmware is in 10.14.3. None ?
I downloaded 10.14.3 a couple of days ago.
Is it safe, or is there the possibility that the bricker is inside the 10.14.3 too ?
I got a W3680 thats why I ask.
Im still on 10.12.6 and I did only the FW update so far. now I was about to install 10.13.6...
BUT since the FW update of 10.13.6, on my screen the scrolling and moving open windows around is stuttering.
I got a Mac edition GTX680 and a 40" Philips 4K, running at lower resolution.
thanks a lot

Today Apple released 10.14.1 final, it's the same 140.0.0.0.0 BootROM released with 10.14.1 DP3.
(10.14.2 and 10.14.3 still have the same 140.0.0.0.0 BootROM)
