 @ everybody fastinated with polos & the price of clothing.

They're not expensive if you know where to look. You don't have to buy Polo or Lacoste or the higher-priced brands.

But then again I live in Shanghai where clothing is abundant and very cheap, and brands are faked left and right. But the small brands are actually much more stylish since all the Ralph Lauren/Lacoste/Nautica/etc. polos here are way too expensive, or if you buy fake then they're all plain, solid colours.

I like striped polos and the Eurasian brands they have here like Baleno, Tonlion and Giordano are much cheaper and more stylish. And you can find small, snug-fitting sizes if you wish.

For example at Baleno they had a sale. Two polos for RMB 80, or about 10 bucks American. They're kind of thin, but it's too hot here to wear thick clothing, and they're still very high quality and stylish IMO.

Example.

[EDIT]: Oh and those Baleno polos have thick, stiff collars if you are so inclined to turn them upwards =)

uhm i know where to get polors & how mch they cost, cleanup. i'm just surprised at how many people are like ZOMG $75 POLO WTF @ YOUR FACE

I don't even think it was cool then, to be honest

It's far from original now...maybe the first 3 people that did it were OK, but now people are just imitating other people they saw at the mall or wherever.

"OMG! Cool guy at 12-o-clock! I bet if I put my collar the same, I'll be just as cool!!"

Except, the "cool guy" thought the same thing about someone he saw 3 days ago...

You know what's really cool? Wearing the things you want the way you want without giving a damn about what people think about you ;)

   Khols anybody?!!!!! $25 for a shirt, $30 for nice jeans. I can't imagine throwing away loads of money for clothes.

Am I the only one that would go to the salvation army store if they were to buy clothes? I never do, because I have old clothes that still fit me just fine, but if I needed clothes, there's no way I'd spend 20+ bucks on a shirt, that's outrageous.

$2 shirts, $4 jeans.... Salvation Army is the way to go :)

Eek, I can't imagine spending 25 bucks on a shirt! I wear hanes tagless Tee's - a 'Value Pack' of 5 of 'em is less than 15 bucks. Other than that I like tight small sized t-shirts that I generally got for free. My last clothing purchase was $5, a splurge :) - a t-shirt from a local vegan/vegetarian restaurant that I love and thought I should support by buying a t-shirt:

.

I'm amazed at that price because

a) we have to live on a budget that doesn't allow for $75 shirts. We make decent money, but after housing, utilities, food (and we don't eat out that often), student loans, insurance, retirement funds, etc, etc, etc, there isn't much left over for other purchases. Our clothing purchases have to be practical and bargains/sales. Even so, we maybe buy clothes like 2-3/year, if that. I still have clothes from high school (and a few sweaters from middle school), and I've been done for 10 years....

b) the mark up on clothes is horrendous. I got a $140 skirt from Express for $10 when it went on their clearance rack. I also got about the same deal with a blazer. And it's amazing to think that they probably STILL made a profit of my purchases. I refuse to buy clothes at retail price at any of the "fancier" stores. Clothes are cheap. It doesn't matter if they're designer or whatever. Sure you should pay a little more for better fabric, but I hardly doubt it's worth 3+ times as much as the other guys....

scem0 I'm with you. I have no problem shopping at thrift stores or second-hand stores. The money goes a lot farther that way. :)

My older brother is INSANE when it comes to cloths. He works at club monaco, so alot of his stuff is from there. But his cheapest t-shirt is probebly 25$ (plain white t-shirt) his most expensive t-shirt is like $70. His jeans are al like $300, he has like $300 glasses, his shirts are 100+ each, his blazers are 300+ each (but he got an amazing deal on a D&G blazer, originaly 1000$, he got it for 200.) But yea, hes nuts with cloths, and its only been like this for a year since hes been working at club monaco.

I'm not like that, but thats because I never have the money for anything really nice. I have 2 90$ shirts, one i got for 25$ and another for like 75$ becuase of his discount.

Try overdrafting your bank account and buying a pair of $190 pants. ;)

Would some of you who don't spend much money on clothes pay more money to a clothing company that doesn't produce their products in a sweat shop?

http://americanapparel.net/mission/

I feel weird paying $5 for a t-shirt because you can imagine how little the worker who made the shirt must be making if the company who's selling me the shirt is making a profit.

On the other hand, companies that charge out the ass for a t-shirt are spending most of that money on useless advertising and their garment workers (or whomever they hired to make the shirts) are probably making the same amount of money as the companies who charge $5 per shirt.

If it didn't seem crazy to order a few t-shirts online from American Apparel and have it shipped to Oz and pay $20 USD delivery charge in order to get 3 shirts that each cost $15-16, I would have done so. I don't know how I feel about this sort of stuff. I really don't. Right now I've decided to be like everyone else and not spend too little on clothing, but not go overboard.
