This is exactly my biggest problem. I do not have a spare $370 to just go buy it elsewhere because Apple dropped the ball on releasing their own product. It’s a shame when a 3rd party can handle a product launch better than the manufacturer. I do get paid Friday so if they continue to drag their feet I will order Best Buy and I guess wait until Monday. This has been one of the worst launches ever, and I’ve been through the “we actually didn’t release them on time oops” iPhone 7 Plus launch.

Not sure what the deal is, I've ordered other things from the Apple online store recently, one on the weekend and one yesterday, both went preparing to ship then shipped the same day, and arrived the next business day, it's only the keyboard that won't ship. I always thought you should be able to see it in MyChoice even if it's in PTS on Apple's end but I can't see anything for the keyboard on MyChoice or if I track by reference and put in my phone number.

Ordered at Best Buy. Got a tracking number last night for a delivery of "today" according to BBY.com, after cancelling mine with Apple. Still "shipping label created" with Ontrac. Paid for next day shipping as well. Still no update on the tracking number and it's been 17 hours, wondering if it will even go out tonight at this rate since nothing has even shown and it's nearly 7pm. No acceptance scan or anything.

Looks like none of the orders for Canada for delvery
Anyone in Canada, specifically Ontario, have anything different than preparing to ship? Mine has been sitting at this since 04/20. Originally had the 24-1 shipping date.

Got a shipment notification today. I live in Toronto. Won’t be delivered unitl Monday April 27th by UPS. Hopefully I get it earlier on Friday.

They just dropped it, because of COVID I dont think they have signatures for anything anymore (but I could be wrong)

Probably late reply, but signatures are still required for the MBPs at least (had 2 delivered in this past week). They will have you agree to them putting down CVD in the scanner, then they they take your name as proof of delivery and signature agreement.

If your order doesn't say signature required, then they will just drop it at the door as normal.

My Best Buy order shipped earlier today. Latest status is that it departed from Fresno, CA at 6:09PM. Since it's next day delivery, I should definitely have it tomorrow. I ordered late on 4/21 and the shipping was free next day.

I haven't cancelled my Apple order yet. I'll wait until I actually have it and all is well. My Apple order wasn't going to deliver until April 29th at the soonest and I haven't been charged yet. A risk, but I think have another day or two given some of the reports. Sorry for the mess some of you are going through. Launches are now like a lottery on who will get screwed - because it inevitably happens. I've went through it myself when the S4 Watch came out.

Apple always overestimates delivery times for the GTA I find, I just got a shipment notification and it says the 28th but I think it'll arrive on Friday.

Update for the April 24 delivery group:

Order: Magic Keyboard for 11" iPad Pro
Order Placed: April 15 @ 4:46p US central time
Original Estimated Delivery: April 24-May 1

At 11:00p last night my order finally shipped (hooray!), but like some of you I am also getting mixed messages:
  1. Apple lists delivery "by Friday" (recognizing that Apple typically underpromises and overdelivers with their delivery dates).
  2. UPS My Choice sent an email showing delivery tomorrow (Thursday April 23).
  3. UPS online still shows the frustratingly vague "Label Created" (see attached photo).
I tend to trust trust the shipper's estimated delivery more than Apple's, of course. Hopefully the lack of movement via UPS today turns out to be one of those burst-updates, where all today's departure and arrival scans show up all at once late at night.

Or maybe my Magic Keyboard is just sitting an a dock somewhere?

Cold. Sad. Lonely. Wanting desperately to feel the warmth of my home and my iPad Pro...

Stay strong, little keyboard. You will be home soon!

You're in good shape I think. I ordered my 12.9 inch at 4pm eastern and am in the 4/24-5/1 window and order hasn't shipped, nor have I seen anything in MyChoice or anything of the like.

Oh, macfan406, that's brutal! Sending you good vibes in the hopes you get a shipment confirmation soon.

Stay strong, brother!

I ordered mine around 15-20 minutes after it launched on the 15th, went to Preparing to Ship on Monday Afternoon, finally got the shipped email from Apple 18 minutes ago (11:03 PM Eastern), UPS is showing Label Created as of 5 minutes ago (11:16 PM Eastern)

My keyboard says shipped by Apple but UPS says it was suppose to be delivered today - it wasn’t. It only shows label created. I’m hoping somehow magically it shows as being delivered tomorrow. If not I fear it has been left behind in TN or worst case...lost 😰

These threads are typically a lot of fun to read. It‘s fun to read the excitement of a new product on the way to our homes. We get to share order dates and delivery status, and track flights in the anticipation of a shiny new Apple gadget arriving at our doorstep. As a long-time Apple fan, I’ve been following these threads for years on here for many big Apple launches. With everything going on in the world today, threads like this can be a pleasant respite.

Sadly, this thread seems to be full of a lot more anxiety and, in some cases, anger. I get it...we all want our new toys. But, lets put this in perspective. As BaddAdvice said, “It’s a keyboard, not the cure for cancer.”

We are in the middle of a global pandemic that has impacted every country and virtually every person on the planet in some way. Most companies and goods and services are also impacted, including manufacturing and shipping/delivery. The sheer magnitude of the logistics of all of these launches are probably difficult to even fathom...and that’s probably on a “normal” day. I can’t imagine what it’s like now with everything going on.

The fact that we are on this thread means we are presumably in relatively good health and not struggling to breathe in a hospital somewhere. We presumably still have jobs or means of income that allow us to still spend money on non-essential items (lets be honest, an iPad keyboard is likely a want, not a need, for most if not all of us).

Everyone who ordered a keyboard will get their keyboard. Apple initially said availability would be in May which historically means the last few days of the month. The fact that they were available to order and were even received by many before May is a pleasant surprise.

All that said...maybe it takes a few more days to get our keyboards than it would under different circumstances. Maybe the tracking and logistics are not working as well. In the grand scheme of things, it’s really not a big deal and certainly not worth any additional anxiety...there is enough of that in the world right now. By next month...heck, by next week...it won’t even matter anymore.

Apologies for the soapbox rant. I guess I was hoping to keep this thread light and fun.

Best wishes to everyone on the receipt of their keyboard. I hope you and your family are safe and healthy!

Hang in there. If it makes you feel any better, you’re not alone. I have a keyboard ordered in the same situation.

Well stated, Proteinaceous. It's good to remember how fortunate we truly are in these tragic times.

I get that, but it's more the lack of information that's the frustrating thing, combined with the fact some people who have ordered theirs later has the information... honestly I'd be fine if they gave me a confirmation of May 1st or something like that. Yes, it would suck, but at least I would know what's going on... Just being kept in the dark is what's leading to the annoyance.

Yes, there is a global pandemic, but this should be a very minor launch in comparison to an iPhone launch. Those usually go off without a hitch most of the time with Apple delivering the product on launch day, and there's definitely more units to move in that regard.

All I'm saying is that it's a little frustrating to see orders placed after yours moving along while yours sits still...

Yeah... I don't know how hurt Apple's supply chain is during these times, but it has to be pretty bad for a company that does something on the scale of launching 3 new iPhones and however many Apple Watches and is able to usually underpromise and overdeliver...

It's getting harder by the day hah! PTS limbo is not fun... I just wake up hoping I get either an email or shipment notifications from UPS or FedEx. Plus there's always the holding out hope that it just got lost in tracking and shows up unannounced. I practically jumped out of my chair in my office when I heard my Ring going off on my phone!

first world problems for the win!
I dropped $350 on a KEYBOARD! I want it tomorrow, pandemic be dammed !

I ordered one for my 2020 12.9 inch with delivery April 24 to May 1 And Also ordered one also ordered one for my 2018 11 inch With delivery of April 27 to May 4

12.9 is preparing to ship

11 is processing
OK so status update the 11 inch model was supposed to ship on the 27th should be delivered by the 24th and I still don’t have a ship notice on the 12.9 inch That was supposed to be delivered on the 24th to the 1st

I’m in the same exact boat as you. Literally. 4PM order. I remember seeing you get PTS roughly same time as me. Hasn’t moved since then. Nothing in MyChoice or FedEx. Doesn’t make sense so many others have gotten tracking.

Frustrating a bit as it would certainly be nice to have a new toy and get my mind off the mess going on out there - but it has almost been more fun tracking this thread the last several days.

I’m sure it’ll be here within the delivery window. Can’t wait!
