Ok, so plot plot twist - just received an email from UPS about another unrelated item that I ordered. Viewed the status of that order, no problem there. Went to my UPS dashboard and saw the Best Buy package was scanned "Out for Delivery" at 9:26am.

Guess I will get this Magic Keyboard today after all.

First Impressions: I really don't think it's as heavy as everyone makes it sound.. I think it's a perfect weight. Typing feels amazing on these keys. The trackpad feels amazing, it is definitely small if you are used to a MacBook Pro or standalone Magic Trackpad 2, but that will be easy enough to get used to. But... I think my case has a defect.. See my picture.. Not sure what that white stuff is? Looks like maybe dried up glue or something. I'm going to call Apple but I think I'm going to try to have them swap it out. I feel like that sounds very picky, but for $350, I kind of expect it to be pretty much perfect...

I agree, for as much money as I am spending I expect a complete defect free product as well. I am praying I get lucky and get a good one but I'm nervous because I am seeing a lot of posts about little defects here and there.

I’m just ordering through Best Buy at this point. Apple seems to have just completely lost them so I’ve lost all faith in them to deliver it when they usually do. Hoping Best Buy can come through... I’ll update this forum when that order is placed

Really? I'm going to look through other threads to see if anyone else has this same issue. Looking closer at it, it looks like the case is actually separating where I see the glue coming out, the left and right side of the keyboard don't look like this at all. Definitely not right and I'm going to try for a replacement.

I got my 11" MK yesterday, it came from Verizon in 1 day, but I still don't have my iPad Pro 11" I ordered back on 4/18. When I ordered it, the site said free next day shipping if orderedby 5:30pm which I did, and it is still processing smh. So I have the MK and still not the iPad Pro.

On a side note, how are you guys cleaning/disinfecting the keyboard and iPads when they come in? Any advice would be appreciated. I know they are coming straight from factory but still need to disinfect somehow correct?

Best Buy order placed. If they can deliver it by tomorrow and Apple is still in limbo that is pretty sad for them. Hopefully I get tracking and the like in the coming hours

I placed an education order. I got a shipped email on Tuesday from UPS. It moved to Preparing to Ship at Apple. UPS MyChoice says it will be delivered today. My tracking number still says label created, nothing else. This morning Apple moved my delivery date to 4/24 rather than a range. Lots of mixed messages. It's coming from Rialto, California, FYI.

Exact same thing (from Rialto to San Francisco). Chatted with Apple, they said wait until tomorrow. One day in the distant future, after we've colonized Mars, perhaps there will be a reliable shipping company...

What the... ?? Nope, that's not being picky. I promise you, if I see any mess like that on my MK when it arrives, it is going back ASAP. For $350, this thing should be made much better and pristine.

You can play with it to see if it works for your work flow, but I would absolutely return it because from the picture (as far as I can tell), it looks like it can be a point where the materials will eventually separate or liquids could get in. Plus just poor quality.

Update for Canada:
- Ordered: April 15 (15-20 minutes max after launch)
- Preparing to Ship: April 20 (around 3 PM Eastern)
- Shipped (Label Created): April 22 (around 11-11:20 PM Eastern)
- UPS Origin Scan: April 23 (around 11 AM Eastern)
- Apple delivery date is Tuesday, April 28, UPS shows tomorrow (April 24) by End of day

I am going to make the assumption that Apple allocated their Apple Store quantities to retailers such as Bestbuy. There is such a long queue to get product from the Apple online store (almost a month lead time). Bestbuy is essentially filling orders that deliver next week, with ground shipping. Smart move Apple from a revenue stand point in terms of getting cash in hand faster. Not very customer centric though with folks that do not like Best Buy or have one readily available around them.

Ordered 11" MK from Apple on 4/18 - Still processing with ETA of 4/29 - 5/6

Ordered 11" MK from Best Buy on 4/21 - Received UPS tracking with delivery tomorrow 4/24

I agree 100%. I know I definitely want the Magic Keyboard already after just playing with it for a few minutes. But I definitely don't want to look at dried up glue every time I use it. Looking closer at it, it definitely is separated there. You're right, I didn't even think about liquid or debris getting in there. Planning to call Apple asap to see what they can do. Hopefully they'll ship me another and let me use this one in the meantime.

Also, I created a new thread for this issue in case anyone wants to follow or has any questions.

My tracking info finally updated this morning and it is finally out for delivery. Best Buy's emails are so slow. After I saw it was out for delivery already I got an email from Best Buy saying it was running behind but would be here today. Mine is supposed to be here between 10:30 AM and 2:30 PM. I am so glad I am working from home right now! I am waiting to cancel my Apple pre order until I get my Best Buy order to make sure there are no defects. I am scared because of how many people are saying either their USB C charging port came out of the side of the cover or they have "bubbles" under the material by the keyboard. It's ridiculous that Apple doesn't have enough to cover defects and there is such a long wait for a replacement. Also Apple should be offering to hold a credit card and ship out the new Magic Keyboard then you send in the defective keyboard when your replacement arrives. I can't stand when companies make you ship back the old item first before they'll even send you a replacement. The way I look at it is I paid for a defect free item so it's on you to fulfill that. I shouldn't have to wait longer.

It's sad Apple is so slow. I pre ordered through Apple.com on the 17th and my expected ship date was April 28th - May 5th. I ordered through Best Buy and got free next day shipping on the 20th and it's coming today.
Yikes didn’t know about the defects. Let me know how yours turns out.

Maybe this was the thing that finally broke Apple. I have never had any issues ordering directly from Apple. It always beat the suggested ETA except when a deliberate embargo was placed on it due to being a product launch (iPad/Apple Watch/etc...)

So im in the 24th - 1st group. Apple says shipped and gave me a delivery date of Friday before reverting to the 24th to 1st again. UPS detailed view only has Label Created on 4/20.

I’m debating giving up and ordering from Best Buy.

I hopped in Apple chat and here’s what they said:

Thank you for your patience! I see it may be taking some time for the UPS tracking site to be updated. I know they’ve been pretty busy with the influx of orders they’ve received. I do see the order has been shipped out on the 22nd and is still set to be delivered on the 24th though.

Sounds good if true! I’ll hold off doubling my pain by dealing with another shipping fiasco and try to be patient.

Honestly the only reason you should be like me and give up on Apple is if you don't have any tracking/shipping information AT ALL. If you're showing a label being created, things are probably moving along. I decided to do a rush Best Buy order because I wasn't seeing anything in MyChoice or FedEx and Apple remained "Preparing to Ship"

Ordered 12.9" MK from Apple on 4/15 - Preparing to ship with an ETA of 4/24 - 5/1

Ordered 12.9" MK from Best Buy on 4/23 - Getting it Ready with an ETA of 4/24

Happy you’ll be able to get your keyboard tomorrow! I’d go that route too but I had an EPP discount with my order through my employer that makes the keyboard with taxes less than the regular price. I understand that this is first world problem during a pandemic but the last time I ordered something from apple and wanted to return it, the store made a big deal about my return. I was told that my return window started when I paid for the item. In my case, it was when the item went to PTS status and my card was charged. Spent about 30 minutes talking to a store supervisor showing my proof of when the item was delivered vs. the charge date. I think that during the pandemic they may be more understanding of returns but that experience left a bad taste in my mouth.

Apple is usually very good about their return policy... that's surprising. That being said the great thing about this is it's totally up to you which specific MK you return. So, you could order one through Best Buy and play around with it until your Apple order arrives and then return the Best Buy order. I would go that route if they refunded my rush shipping, but they probably won't. $25 for next day on a very popular product (if they deliver) is not really a big deal though.

FWIW - I ordered an 11’ iPad on 4/15 and it is getting delivered today (4/23). The initial delivery window was 21-23 Apr. It was in processing until 4/22 where my card was charged and it went to PTS and subsequently Shipped in a matter of a few hours. It is coming from a warehouse in the US (PA) and not from China.

EDIT: just noticed you ordered from Verizon...never mind. :)

Yeah, I'd swap it for that glue-y residue.

Glad to hear it's not as heavy feeling. I was wondering if reviewers were overstating that aspect. They say it makes the iPad/keyboard as heavy as an Air, but I don't find the Air to be heavy.
