This looks like it supports caseless operation. Can the base be removed so I can mount it on a vertical surface?

All of them support case-less as long as you use the metal plate. This one in particular the Amazon pics show a very unique metal plate that you can stick onto the back of your phone.

I use a metal plate on the upper part of my X next to the camera and an Apple leather case. Works great for wireless charging and for my magnetic car mount.
Could you link which mount you are using? I am using a spigen magnetic mount with the plate installed at the very bottom inside a uag monarch case, which works but I would like it to be sturdier.

Really wish there was a way to do this without the need for the magnetic plate or anything on the phone. The X looks so good I don't want to cover it with a case

Wrong. I'm using a cheap, tiny magnetic mount designed for a SE on my X without any issues.

You have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.

This guy has the case-less/plate-less answer. Not sure why he’s takin so long to show us the goods so we can all enjoy what he’s using. Then again he says I have no idea what I’m talking about, so maybe me saying he has the answer really means he doesn’t?

Oh, I’m sorry life was interrupted. You were much more confident you’d show us a video last Sunday. Sincerely, I won’t mention you again seeing the option you’ve provided.
Plates?
The search continues naked iPhone people. Maybe a suction cup solution? Custom gecko/3M tape?

I bought the Evutec case which I am happy with, but the magnetic vent mount is huge. There is also only one position (no 360 swivel). Since the magnets in the case are positioned below and above the charging coil, my smaller generic mount with round magnet would not hold up the phone securely. I’m going to try the Pitaka mount which looks a bit smaller and slimmer.

I picked up the karbon aer case myself and love it. I had the same one on my 7. The mount is definitely huge but like you said it is because the plates are spread apart so wireless charging is possible. I ordered the Pitaka regular mount and the QI mount. From what I've read they make evutecs cases(could be wrong, I read that a year or two ago)so I'm hoping their mounts work with the aer case. It will be nice to be able to swivel the mount but I'm worried the back "claw" mount might not be tight enough for smaller vent fins like in my vehicle.

That’s my concern as well. I’m not sure the claw will hold. If worse comes to worse, I’ll just have to use the Evutec mount. I had to order the Magmount off eBay because their site was charging 14.99 shipping (more than the mount itself). Hope it works out for you!

I ended up in Target tonight and found an Evutec case. It came with a magnetic vent clip (all for &29.99). As I mentioned, I use car play so the charger is null for me, but I have a wireless charger at home.

The case is slightly thicker then a minimalist type case and has a textured back.

There are metal plates built into the case around the charging coil in the phone. The only thing I don’t like is the “Evutec” logo on the back of the case, but I will get over it.

The vent clip is bigger then I would have liked, but it holds the phone very securely. Much better then the case and my metal plate sideways I was doing.

Most important, when I got it home the wireless charging worked.

Overall, not a bad setup for those of us just looking for the magnetic mount and not to have it interfere with the wireless charging.

Thanks for confirming! Thoughts on the case over all now that you’ve had it for a bit?

can you post a picture of the phone on the mount without a case or plate.
I think thats what a lot of us are after.
You should just order the mount, then post your result. That Amazon page he posted has a link lower down the page to similar items and the same mount is listed for $9.99 w/Prime shipping. Cheap enough to try and return quickly.

Did you get that mount from pitaka? If you can id love to see some pics of that evutec case and how grippy it feels. I have the aer case but it seems a little slick, however, my iPhone 7 aer case did feel gripper with time and use.

I actually really like it. I think it officers more protection then a bare minimum case, but I also don’t think it really adds any bulk.

The mount is big, but when the phone is on there, it isn’t coming of unless you take it off, and even then you have to put some muscle into it to get it off. I have noticed that the mount will stay in the vent, but it slides off when you try to take the phone off. I have found it is best to slide the phone from the mount.

The logo that I mentioned on the case is actually a sticker and can be peeled off.

I would recommend.

I have a silver Scosche magicplate mounted on the bottom back of my x and the phone is in a clear Spigen case. Ive been wireless charging it since 11/3 and it works perfect. I also have a magnetic mount on my jeep dash and the phone holds great.

Have you experienced any issues with your phone with the Evutec Karbon and the included mount? Or for that matter has any experienced any issues or odd behavior with their phones while using the magnetic mounts?

Here is the issue that I've experienced using the Evutec Karbon and included mount. When mounting the phone up higher on the mount itself, it renders my phone's right button inoperable (can't invoke Siri, can't wake the screen, etc...). I then take it off the mount, and the right button works as expected. If I mount the phone a little lower on the magnetic mount, the issue goes away and the button works as expected. I can consistently reproduce this behavior depending on the mounting position.

I know the solution is to just mount it lower, but given the issue when mounted higher, I'm a little concerned that the magnets are pulling something internally in the phone that isn't allowing the button to function properly. I hope this makes sense. It's made me nervous to use the case & mount, even though I love the case and it has been my go-to case for my past few phones.

Anyone else experience anything similar?

Can't say I have experienced any of that. I have used magnetic mounts on past phones and all worked well for me.

:D Just to clarify that we are an independent brand.
Do our mounts work well with your car vent?

Hello Sarah

I have the iPitaka case for iPhone X. I like it from a functionality standpoint because it does support both magnetic mounting and qi charging. And I have been using it because it is the only option I found which allows me to use it on a magnetic qi dash mount.

However from an aesthetic standpoint I don't like it because it takes a beautifully designed phone and makes it ugly. If you look at these pics, for the white/silver iPhone X it completely ruins the appearance. The sides look bad because the chrome clashes with the black, and the back is completely unrecognizable.

What would be nice is if you could make a similar case with either a clear back, or a partially clear back which has white metal pieces inside or is opaque to hide the metal pieces. Also make the sides of the case chrome to match the actual iPhone.

Here is an example of a case design (another case I also own) which is what I would LOVE to see iPitaka make but with support for qi magnetic charging as well! If you made that it would be THE case to buy out of all cases!
