Magnetic Wireless Portable Charger, Anker PowerCore Magnetic 5K Wireless Power Bank with USB-C Cable, Only for iPhone 12/12 Pro / 12 Pro Max / 12 Mini https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08TW7B...abc_8GZFRVDESWWBWAZ8Z953?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

Amazon UK in stock

Tempted as it’s more reliable brand. Still got my unbranded above at moment.

The Anker looks very thick though, the unbranded I have is about 15mm and doesn’t feel too bad, I wouldn’t want it to be much thicker, not sure on exact of Anker.

I emailed Anker direct and they told me June for U.K. in stock.

Anyone got the Anker can comment on these questions please? @doubleagent?

Can you use it like a desktop QI charger? As in plug it into the wall and set your iPhone down for overnight charging so both the iPhone and battery pack will be charged in morning?

Can you attach by MagSafe but use a small cable from battery to iPhone if wanted to charge faster but still convenient to carry? Will MagSafe charging be disabled when it’s wired but still safe to have attached?

If charging by MagSafe if using the iPhone, does the battery still charge, as increase or just stay at same level as using it?

How long does it take to charge say 50% with MagSafe attached and not using?

Will it charge AirPods wirelessly, if placed correctly?

Thanks

Here's a cheap one I just ordered. It's one of only two that I've found that are the width or less of my 12mini! Of course, it only charges at 5w but that's ok to just have something for now until a legit fast charger version arrives that also fits the mini! Open to suggestions if anyone has found a better solution yet.... hoping for Apple to get their **** together!

that seems to be the most popular one lately.

I'm STILL livid and waiting on Charge Fast to deliver the 2 I ordered back in Februrary 2wks ago they replied with tracking details that load yet still show in Shanghai yet to have been departed since 3.18TH ... I really want to punch a brick wall as I'm out $120CAN due to this. I actually want to ruin the company - it's about the principle of running a business with courtesy and care to the customer.

This one at first glance only looks promising - but no reviews!

Gotta enjoy some of the descriptions on these

Love the look of that one - corners seem to match up with the phone well... it's about the same width as the mini which is nice. Only worry is that it's 100mm tall which makes it either bump into the raise camera area or spill down below the edge of the phone. Gonna need a smaller version of it for my mini.

Nice! All I really need is something to maybe give one full charge - 3000mah will come real close if it has 75% efficiency.. And all I want is for it to be small enough to keep using the phone normally. Would be nice to charge at 12w, but seems that is asking alot in a really small form factor - maybe only something that designers at Apple can do for the mini... at least I hope so.

Looks good, I am tempted to get one but on the other hand I have not really had a reason to leave the house since October thanks to covid-19 besides dog walks so I might as well wait and see if Apple ever releases an official one

Bought the Anker one after I got my questions answered from Anker.

Attached nice and strong into iPhone even with MagSafe case on.

It doesn’t seem as thick as on the pictures. It’s obviously a lump on back but most will, especially at 5000mAh.

Material it’s made of is much better than the no brand I have, that one is hard horrible plastic. This is smooth texture, would feel better to not scratch iPhone etc.

Like you I have a 12 Mini so my main concern as you've mentioned is how well it fit on the back without protruding beyond the MagSafe area. the one I found recently - no reviews yet and with various different languages of purchases with some form of auto translation I'm hesitant to try.

I'm not down with the Anker far too bulky which will add weight. The portable charger for my use will not just be for use in the hand, and not just in ideal warm weather but will since in my winter jacket chest pocket when I'm out so less weight and bulk is my first choice - 3-6K mAh is my sought after.

I hope Apple makes official branded ones. Then the competition will make further adjustments and better products.

I’m on the look out now for a very short USB-C to lightning cable for those times when want a fast boost. Probably not one as short as needed, maybe 5cm max?

Anker replied to say that’s ok, but yet to test. Not sure on the output using it cables and if PD.

Aliexpress is the place to go, you can find anything about iPhone/mobile accessories
5 cm is too short though
I already bought 30 cm but i think you can find something around 15 cm of length

Anything on Amazon uk that will not protrude over the sides of a mini? I have a 12 but my daughter has a mini so would be good to work well with that as she’s normally the one nicking my portable chargers

You just have to check dimensions: 94mm x 63mm

I have this one arriving on Fri.

Beware on this seller - they made a shipment and it was refused shipping before leaving china. So, they failed to ship it properly. When I inquired they refused to acknowledge that it isnt on its way. I had to file a dispute and was refunded immediately.

I found something on amazon since that will arrive tomorow.

Just arrived and can confirm this one fits perfect without a hair to spare before bumping up against the case protected lip of the camera area on the mini. Would be a bit nicer if it sat lower but I guess magsafe design decides that. In fact, this battery could be longer being 87mm with about 8mm to spare. Feel in the hand isnt too bad at all with it being about the same width as the phone with case, maybe a mm thicker. Not as good as the wallet for sure.

Overall, a good buy so far for fitment and we'll see how it performs.

Ha! Price on US Amazon also went up $10 since I bought it just a couple days ago. It's the wild west out there with magsafe pricing.

Little update on the power bank I got.

Reports I’ve read are that they run hot and that is true. They get a bit hot while charging under 80%. Could be uncomfortable in the summer heat. But it’s about a normal high heat you feel when a phone is working hard.

I would say it does charge pretty well, but obvi not the full 12w. It definitely goes pretty fast up to 80% and then takes a long pause to cool down. I can feel the heat go away.

Thank you.
- I suspect the portal wireless-charge back you purchased is using PD to charge and with such a slim device heat will disappate quite quickly(?) as little room for it to spread out so to speak. The iPhone 4/4s/5/5S would all get warm very quickly when gaming (even the 3GS would) over WiFi (cpu+imbedded gpu+game+wifi … mobile connections being consistent).

Do you feel the same heat when charging the iPhone 12 mini from very low charge level to say 80%?

Bought the anker one. A little bulky but that’s fine for occasional use. Holds securely without a case - don’t have a magsafe case so I’ve had to buy one from Amazon for my daughter as she needs a case on 24/7…

Seems to fits her 12 mini well without protruding or hitting the camera bump. So for what it’s meant to do - charge your phone more conveniently without cables etc - seems fine. Happy to pay a premium for a brand I’ve actually heard of and trust too

Agree with above comments. I have the Anker for my iPhone 12. Holds secure, doesn’t feel too bulky, actually think it looks worse on the promo pictures.

It’s slow charge, would be better if 7.5W suppose, but as a more trusted brand they maybe tested for heat etc. I’d rather have this brand than no name that claim, and maybe do, full 12-15W but imagine the heat is damaging.
