Just bought some groceries at Albertson's. The clerk ask to see my card.
I was like, WTF? It's a freaking digital, you ain't going to see the numbers. He kept on insisting to see the card.
I decided to cancel apple pay, and just use my regular plastic card.

clerk looking to see the card, now this is new. another was asking for signature on the pad.
apple needs to crack down on this BS, it's neither fast or convenient, and just creates confusion.

If you spend over $50 they will ask for the DAN which is the last four digits of the virtual card that shows up on the paper receipts from Apple Pay purchases. Also what card was this, Visa, MC or Amex? Albertsons needs to fix this yeah and hopefully they do in the next few months.

It was a purchase for $57 Visa. If they clerk has to see my card on my phone, that's neither fast or convenient on the Apple Pay part since I have to pull Passbook, go to my card info and show the digit. I could've done this quicker with my card.
I did one at macy's for $100 transaction. this one they didn't ask to see the card, but asked for signature on the pad. Inconsistency everywhere.
I sent feedback to apple and albertson's.

It'll be fixed once EMV is in full swing. EMV will solve a lot of Apple Pay problems as well as allow for more wide acceptance. Because of EMV, I am even able to use Apple Pay at a multitude of mom and pop stores.

Anyone seen if Best Buy has NFC on yet? I know support is supposed to come this month.

I was at my local one today and think they're slowly messing with it at this point...nothing extra was lit up on the terminal and I didn't want to hold up the line "experimenting" today. That being said, the weird part was that my card was declined (for a $30 purchase, no less) and I had to use a different one - I contacted Amex and they said there was nothing wrong with my card, account, or anything and it was probably a terminal glitch at Best Buy. Perhaps bugs in the transition to get ready for EMV/NFC?

Did they have a touchscreen for their pos, as it should say Toshiba on it instead of IBM, also if your wondering where the built in NFC in located, its in the same place as the ones in Office Max: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/38348368/2015-01-08.jpg (BB probably doesn't have the contactless logo sticker yet if they are using the built in one) You could try tapping to the left of the keypad, and it may light up, but from what I've heard it will be off, but you never know.

Yeah - they had the new Ingenico terminals (replaced a few weeks ago) - wasn't really paying attention to the pos itself, as the cashier was being as by-the-book as it comes (my rewards info was still with an old phone number, so me giving the wrong information apparently made her skeptical of everything, needed to triple-check ID, etc. etc.). As much as I wanted to play the "does NFC work?" game, I suspect she would've thought I was up to something by putting my phone or watch near the terminal... :(

Interesting! I will check back in a few weeks to see if there is any progress.

Any way you could pseudo enable the EMV slot?

Also could you do a Verifone Mx for me of any type? I bought an Ingenico to mess with.

Also on FT you said you did a video of Target. Did you upload that yet per chance?

The Verifone terminals refuse to work with my software. Though I can use any Ingenico or Hypercom/Equinox terminal (ViVOpay possibly soon as well). Yes, the Target video will be uploaded tonight.

"Your software"? Please explain.
Lol should have phrased that better. The software I use that lets me communicate with the terminals and process the card data. It's not my software, it's just the one I use.

Here is the video for Target! Sudo EMV video will be done in a few weeks as I have to get an EMV config write up for an EMV approved device, it will either be an Equinox L5300 (Walgreens) or an Equinox L5200 (smaller version of Walgreens terminals).

The Big 5 by my house had the NFC symbol on the screen (only after choosing Credit on the terminal) yet it didn't recognize my Apple Watch. Hmm. :(

Maybe only Google Wallet works there, as I know that they are on the MasterCard Contactless Locator, but none near me to test it out at. Or the terminal was broken, it can happen even with those MX915's and MX925's, although thats rare. As I've only seen one MX925 with broken Contactless.

It works with Apple Pay just fine for me. I have used it at Big 5 many times.

Might have been a fluke then. I didn't want to do a second attempt because there were people behind me but maybe next time.

I have noticed someone has added Wendy's, have they finally got EMV slots there, or only Contactless readers? If its only the readers, then they look like this: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/B3yiF5eCAAAM4Wt.jpg:large Next month I'll be really close to a Wendy's on the Mastercard Locator, so I will have to try it out then.

That looks NFC only and very old so I don't think anything's really changed.

Just noticed that my local Hess has disabled NFC! It worked there a few months ago. Last night, I see the "Please swipe your card" message and when I held phone close to it, tapped on it, nothing happened. :/

Try another register, the thing could just be broken.

I thought a lot of retailers disabled contactless, but in the end it was a broken iPhone! I need to still get this taken cared of with Apple. Literally none of my cards showed up, but I tried my Apple Watch on the same terminal and it worked just fine! Sad, I can't believe I thought stores disabled it the entire time, LOL!
