Just noticed that my local Hess has disabled NFC! It worked there a few months ago. Last night, I see the "Please swipe your card" message and when I held phone close to it, tapped on it, nothing happened. :/
What kind of equipment do they use at Hess? Is it like this one:
which is very old and may not work correctly anymore, if you have another Hess try it out there, but if they don't have that one what equipment do they use?

Try another register, the thing could just be broken.

I thought a lot of retailers disabled contactless, but in the end it was a broken iPhone! I need to still get this taken cared of with Apple. Literally none of my cards showed up, but I tried my Apple Watch on the same terminal and it worked just fine! Sad, I can't believe I thought stores disabled it the entire time, LOL!

I didn't see the NFC logo anywhere and my phone worked at a neighboring Subway just fine.

They use a verifone one. Looks very similar to the one at Whole Foods, but a bit smaller.

Whole Foods uses the MX915 which is the smaller version of the MX925, did they use the MX915: http://www.eshcom.com/store/image?id=VFMX915 ? Comes with NFC enabled by default. The MX8xx series have grey on them and don't support nfc without the addon on top.
Looks like Jimmy Johns is adding Apple Pay now! "Jimmy John's ‏@jimmyjohns 16 minutes ago @Oaksandnix I'm adding #applepay to my locations, but stores are franchised so it'll vary at different locations!"

I guess Haggen officially supports Apple Pay now (even though their terminals still show no indication that it works).

Well I noticed that PetSmart now has the Verifone MX925's in their stores, so does anyone want to try out Apple Pay there?? Remember they were an early part of Apple Pay but dropped out of it soon after, but maybe they will support it soon? :D

The drive through at Chick-Fil-A seems to use MX915s just like at the counter. I don't think it can be handed to the customer though. :(

Regardless of the equipment used, here is a tip to let you know if the terminal is active for contactless.
There are 4 led's along he top. During the checkout process, look to see if the first led is illuminated. If so, it is contactless enabled.

The Verifone terminals that Target and others are using don't have LEDs. Sometimes they'll have four circles and/or a NFC/Apple Pay logo on the screen but a lot of the time the store doesn't show any indication at all.

Same difference, but if the first 'light' is not on during checkout, then the terminal is not active for Apple Pay.
Just something to watch for.

Just something to watch for.

Example: No "lights" or logos appear at all at Haggen (just "Please Swipe Card") until you attempt to pay with an iPhone or watch, and they actually have Apple Pay logos in their advertising.

I found a Raley's grocery store here in Sacramento that takes it...kind of. It never actually goes through. Keeps saying the bank rejects it, but have had success with that card through apple pay elsewhere.

Not sure if this has been posted but the Smith's chain of stores (Part of the Kroeger family) supports NFC and has for a while. However I'm noticing that it's been really hit and miss when it works. I would say I'm lucky to get this to work 60 percent of the time and despite making comments to several employees at the store I normally shop at nobody seems to really care that it doesn't work. I've also noticed this at gas stations that support NFC Payments. I'm hoping as this becomes more adopted that there will be more of an incentive to keep these things up and running.

Oh yeah only certain ones in Utah support it, mostly around the Salt Lake City area but some outside of there in Utah have it turned off like the rest of Kroger.

Not sure if it is at all locations but Pei Wei in Addison, TX has new cc terminals that accept Apple Pay...
Oh yeah just used it at a denver location of Pei Wei and they have the Verifone VX820 so same ones as Subway but Contactless actually worked better.

Dollar Tree seems to accept Google Wallet at certain locations with MX915 but I'm not sure about Apple Pay.

Zion Market apparently now "officially" supports Apple Pay. I've been using it there for a while with no issue though but maybe it'll make the experience less awkward.

Rite Aid is working flawlessly and it's way better than Walgreens implementation. For credit cards, there are no buttons to press at all. Debit gives you the option of PIN (which works) but all you have to do is hit the green button o bypass. No confirm amount, no weirdness. It just works.

Cinemark Theaters (at least the Plano, TX location) have upgraded their self-service ticket kiosks and concession checkouts to accept NFC payments...

Well it looks like my local Jimmy Johns accepts Google Wallet and probably Apple Pay too. They use the Verifone VX805 pinpads and it does say to tap with the Contactless logo on the screen. Tap away with Apple Pay there people!

My local Best Buy apparently turned on chip card/EMV support today. There's no indication on the screen that Apple Pay/NFC's supported though so I didn't try tonight. Can anyone confirm whether or not they turned on NFC support too?

I called it! I will be stopping by my local Best Buy tomorrow to see if it's working. Will also be trying Apple Pay. Could it be the first major retailer to have EMV contactless support? Can anyone else confirm EMV is enabled there?

I bought an apple watch charger from best buy two days ago, that particular still has the same terminal like before, and they don't work with apple pay or visa pay wave.
