I bought an apple watch charger from best buy two days ago, that particular still has the same terminal like before, and they don't work with apple pay or visa pay wave.

They don't need to change the terminal hardware to enable Apple Pay or chip if it already has the new Ingenico ones. Also, the cashier made it sound like chip just got enabled today (though of course this probably depends on the location).

Yes, but still, it is very odd that the terminals does not have the contactless logo in the bottom left of the terminal. I own both versions of the iSC480 (both external and internal contactless) and that logo is not a sticker, it's printed on. Maybe they are going to add the bit on top? It's just annoying they are waiting so long for NFC.

I kinda expected it would be on the screen itself like it is elsewhere, actually. Then again I haven't really seen many iSC480s outside Best Buy.

BTW you own merchant terminals? I'm guessing you work somewhere that sells them? (I feel like you mentioned it before but I can't recall.)

Yes I do own multiple payment terminals from different brands, but I don't sell them. I have just gotten into EMV and NFC and the technology behind it. It's become a hobby for me really.

They may have the hardware, but it's not enabled, like I said, it doesn't work. When used with with a pay wave it beeps but the trans won't go through, ended up swiping the card like before.

I thought I was in pretty deep when:

1. I ended up getting specific cards so that I could definitively test a retailer's acceptance of particular CVMs. (Diners Club for offline PIN preference and Capital One 360 for online PIN preference, respectively).
2. I switched to the iPhone from Android mainly for Apple Pay.
3. I visited every Target in my county (15+ of them IIRC) at least several times while they were turning EMV on.

Actually buying the terminals is a whole 'nother level. :p They're not $1000+ like news media have claimed, are they?

I was trying to say that you may have barely missed Best Buy turning on NFC/EMV at your specific location, is all. (Were there any green lights lit on the bottom of the terminal, BTW?)

They are about $1000 for the newer models, but I have gotten most of mine for less than $100 brand new. eBay is a wonderful thing when it comes to POS hardware.

If thats true then both Best Buy and Publix, who have both vowed to support Apple Pay have to install the addons on top, which will take even more time for Apple Pay, geeze.

I feel like I should have gotten into the card terminal industry. That sounds like insane markup.

At least it should be a lot quicker once they have the hardware, assuming the POS software already supports NFC.

I got an email from Dunkin Donuts over the weekend and it sounds like :apple: Pay and EMV are coming soon.

"Over the next few weeks, we're updating your Auto-Reload experience to integrate with the latest and most secure credit card technology..."

That sounds like something in their mobile app rather than something in store.

Savers Thrift Store supports NFC & EMV, the latter I believe as you press sale on the FD35 they then enter the amount on the main FD100Ti, Present card $, Tap, select Credit done and no signature required. FD equipment always works great unless its not configured correctly. Ace Hardware here has iSC 250's but only say "Please slide card" and no light for nfc sadly.

Best Buy has enabled NFC. It looks like it's supposed to launch across the entire US tomorrow. Also, Walgreens has enabled EMV both contact and contactless meaning no buttons need to be pressed when you tap your phone. Just tap and go.

EMV's not at all Walgreens locations yet. For instance, my local one still has the slots covered.
Give it a week, two tops and it should be active. The rollout is going very fast. Not sure why Staples is dragging their feet.

What indicated a nationwide rollout? I've heard "it's coming" for awhile but no concrete details... Would be nice to stack discover's Apple Pay bonus on this week's MacBook sale...

Best Buy corporate has sent an email out to the stores saying it will be launched today.

the mods probably should move this post to iPhone forum and make it sticky.
anyway, I used my Apple Watch at a GameStop store. It asks if the amount is correct, tap yes. Then it asks for pin, but you can choose cancel, then choose credit card.
Not as fast like in mcdonald's, macy's, albertsons, but it does work.

No luck at Jersey Mike's tonight with the watch or phone. Kid behind the counter said he had never seen anyone try and didn't think they took it. I assured him they were supposed to be able to but no luck. The terminal light up like it worked but he said it showed declined both times on his screen. Oh well, told him I haven't had any issues at Subway and Firehouse.

ETA: Just checked the Apple site and it is still listed under "Coming Soon". My apologies Josh the Jersey Mike's cashier!

Jersey Mike's is still "coming soon" so I wouldn't expect Apple Pay to be accepted just yet. However, non-Apple Pay forms of NFC have been known to work there; my AmEx and Diners Club cards (both with NFC/tap capability) work fine there, for instance.

Yep, my mistake. Edited my post too so as not to cause confusion.

Party City seems to accepts Apple Pay, you select Apple Pay from the screen then tap and it works. :D
